[Open] November log
WHO: Link and you!
WHERE: Temba, Sh'Ka, the Beach
WHAT: Link attempts to celebrate 'Halloween', searches for things Dustin left behind, and attempts to build a raft.
WHEN: Somewhere during November
WARNINGS: None so far
i. Treat or Treat?
One evening, as the people of Temba and Sh'Ka reside in their homes - wherever that may be - many will find that they suddenly have a pointy eared visitor. He hasn't bothered to knock, or make his presence known before entering. He's just walked - or climbed - right in without any hesitation.
Once inside, he'll find you. And then he'll hold out his hands a small package filled with small cakes, honeyed fruits, and candies.
"Treat," he says, as he presses the package towards you.
Link may have gotten a few of the details about how 'Halloween' was meant to work a little wrong. And also the date.
ii. Mementos from Dustin (cue Get Item sound effect)
Link missed Dustin.
The other teen had been grumpy. Constantly irritable. Downright unfriendly really, most of the time. And yet...Link had still liked him. He'd been a friend, even if Link doubted Dustin would ever admit that.
But Dustin was gone now. Link wasn't sure where. But Link felt...compelled, to try and do something to look after what Dustin left behind.
Most of it was under rubble. But Link was stubborn enough to shift all the debris and rubble that was once Dustin's workshop, and search some of Dustin's other hiding places. Not that Dustin had told Link where his hiding places were. But Link spent a lot of time climbing up the sides of buildings. You could see a lot, that way.
Eventually, Link's luck and stubbornness pays off. From within the rubble, he pulls free his prize - a large sack. Reaching inside, he pulls forth an exiting find - large volcanic rocks, and clippings from plants. He holds one of the rocks, making a soft noise of appreciation as he admires it's shiny surface. Treasure!
iii. Get the duct tape, we're building a raft
One day, while at the beach, Link looked out at the ocean. Looked at those islands, just barely visible off in the distance. And wondered, what's over there?
And of course, now that he'd wondered, he just had to find out.
Over a few days, Link could be seen pulling all sorts of things to the beach. Logs from trees he'd chopped down with the Master Sword when Zelda wasn't looking. Rope he's scrounged up. Large, massive leaves from the greenhouse.
When he starts using the rope to tie everything together, it won't be difficult at all for an observer to tell what Link's building: a raft.
[[ooc note: If you'd like your character to explore the islands with Link, feel free to have them express IC interest here! Alternatively, you can just let me know oocly that you'd like to get involved - PM, discord and plurk are all good. Once I know who's in and have the info from the mods, I'll put up a separate log for the actual exploration.]]

II.
When Link finds his sack, Radley happens to be around again, and he comes over. "Hey ... is Dustin gone?" he greets, realizing now that may be the case. He's not sure why rocks are the big treasure here, but ... okay, so they do look cool.
no subject
Wherever Dustin is, Link hopes he's okay.
no subject
"... I'm sorry," he says at last. "He probably went home...."
They couldn't know for sure, though. That was one of the most distressing things about this.
no subject
“Need to look after his things,” he says softly. The ones that he could find, anyway.

The turtle stares at the intruder who's just...invited himself into the empty factory Donnie's been working on fixing up. The windows have just been bumped up on the list of priorities.
"...wha?"
He looks down at the package that's passed over to him, blinking.
no subject
He says nothing about the fact that he’s breaking and entering in order to give said treats.
no subject
Looking down at the package, Donnie still looks uncertain but he at least takes the thing since Link is being quite insistent. "Uh... Thanks?" he says. "Should...I open it now?" Maybe the Hylian is practicing for being Santa or something? He has no idea.
no subject
“…Is that what you do for Halloween?” He asks. Maybe Donnie knows?

1 (presuming he's coming in through the hotel window for the laughs)
"The FUCK!?" he shouts, dropping one of the shirts - stained with blue blood on it from the incident - before backing the hell away from Link.
It takes a moment of processing and then he gets it. Relaxes a bit. Scowls. "Are... are you doing trick or treat? In reverse? Halloween was last month buddy. And who the hell climbs in that way to give out treats?!"
no subject
“They said people give treats?” And look, here Link is, delivering the goods. Through the window. Was it the window part that he got wrong?
no subject
York walks over to look over the items. "You leaving those for Richie? Maybe I’ll tell him the boogeyman was here looking for him." Because York could still be a dick sometimes. He looks up at Link.
"Where’d you get all these sweets anyways?"
no subject
But rather than question it, he considers what to give York. York looks different from how he did in the Calibrations dream, but Link still knows it's him - and that he's a machine. Like a Guardian, but a person. If he can't give food, what can he give him?
"What do you...eat?" he asks. Is 'eat' the right word, for a person who is a machine?

He does have it wrapped pretty tightly though, or at least he did before he decided to go for a run. He's pulled over for a pit stop on the beach to fix this wrappings, which brings him to Link and this fun little project of his. He comes to a stop near him, managing not to kick sand everywhere like a jerk.
"Hey, bud! Plannin' to hit the waves?"
no subject
He just takes it in stride, and nods his head.
"Want to see the islands," he says.
no subject
"Islands?" Sonic takes a second to look out across the water, sure enough there's some islands out on the horizon.
"Well, what d'ya know! I never noticed them before, guess I musta been distracted exploring the mainland! And, y'know, distracted by all the other, more horrible things."
no subject
“The raft is so I can go look,” he explains. Link’s not a Zora, after all. He can swim pretty far, but not that far.

3; assuming 1 happened shortly previous
After a moment he came forward to steady the far end of the logs while Link attempted to tie them; it'd hopefully be easier on the other man to have things held still.
no subject
That was then, though. This is now - where Link just gives the Soldier a grateful nod when he lends his assistance. Now the logs are nice and still for Link, as he winds the rope around them to keep them nice and steady.
no subject
The logs are sturdy, if roughly hewn on their ends; his companion must have used that sword to hack them down. That couldn't be good for the blade! The Soldier knew the importance of keeping ones equipment in good shape. Maybe he could offer the use of his whetstone when they were done.
"What are your plans with the raft?" Well, maybe he'd just approach the idea after this.

i. Treat or Treat?
She stops the tape player and removes her headphones just to look around - checking if there's anyone else - to ask, harshly, "How did you get in here? When?" Pause.
She looks at the offered package, "And why? Is that," she points at it, "going to explode? Spiders going to pop out?" Once she finds out what's actually in the package, she's going to want it, so bad.
Re: i. Treat or Treat?
Then he looks down at his package, a faint frown on his face. Why does she think it’s going to explode or reveal spiders? They’re not the sorts of things you give people. Well, most people. Beedle would like the spiders, Link was pretty sure.
“It’s treats?” he says again. Perhaps she missed it, the first time. “Little cakes. Honeyed fruits. Candies.”
no subject
Max heard him, but she's still confused, stunned. Why would anyone do this?
"Why?" she asks, and slowly takes the package, now staring at it much like she had the window. She has an idea, of course, since Link kept saying "treats" perhaps this was related to Halloween? But this is way off.

ii
The warlord stands there, statue-still. He recognizes the bag, its contents as Link goes through them. There's nothing to say, however. So he turns his hidden face to observe the rest of the broken remnants of the building Link had found it in. It makes sense that Dustin had sought out other places to squirrel away his treasured belongings. And Felwinter's well aware of how protective the boy was about his things.
Finding Link here picking things out confirms what he's already known, but with it comes a sensation he isn't certain how to place.
no subject
He slowly twists and turns the shiny rock in his hand, silently looking at the way the light catches. There is no attempt to hide it from Felwinter - he is welcome to look too, if he wants.
no subject
But he isn't here to loot. Eventually he looks off elsewhere, expelling something of a sigh.
