This is Commander Poe Dameron of the Republic fleet. I'm looking to speak to whoever's in charge here. I've got some pretty pressing issues to deal with back home, and uh...I really need to be getting back. Or at the very least if someone knows of a long range transmitter, or a ship, actually? A ship would be good.

...Or caf. Do you guys have caf here? Or maybe something stronger? That whole...glowy ball thing..., the data point- that happens to everyone, right? [He taps at his temple with a frown. He didn't particularly enjoy that experience.]

[There was a slight smirk, knowing that he got to Poe easily with the comment. That smirk was quickly replaced with the sound of grinding teeth.]

Hi, Commander. I'm Katara, and I've been here for a while now. Believe me when I say I know how you feel about having some 'pressing issues' to deal with. Luckily, it seems like the people who took us are able to put us back right where we left off, no matter how long it's been. Several people here come from different points in time.

[ She smiles kindly. ]

I don't know what 'caf' is, but there are 'space ships.' [ The air quotes are easy to detect. This girl isn't used to dealing with technology, it seems. ]

[Poe smiles warmly.]

Just Poe's fine. Good to meet you, Katara.

[His head tilts curiously, but some of the tension seems to leave his brow, and he gives a soft hum.]

Huh...Well that's....reassuring, I guess.

[The unfamiliarity is definitely strange, and Poe's brow furrows briefly, but it can't quite dampen his eagerness.]

There are?? Where are they? Are they operational?

Nice to meet you, too, Poe. I felt that way too, when I found out. I was taken from the aftermath of a battle. I'd just finished healing my friend, but I was still really worried. Am still really worried, but I know he'll be waiting for me when I get back.

There are six ships. I can show you where they are if you'd like. They have power and the food goo machines work. I don't know if you can fly them, though.

[Republic. That is grounds for pause, but not too long ago, he worked alongside the Republic and it went alright. And besides, this might not be the Republic he knows, and besides even that, going about making enemies in a precarious situation helps no one.]

Chances are you'll be here for the long haul regardless of pressing business at home, I'm afraid. It's like that for everyone here.

There are ships, but none that are inclined to work. Though that is likely by design rather than an inherent fault in their construction.

[A pause.]

Can't help you with the caf, I'm afraid. I can help with something stronger though.

[Assuming he's willing to trust a person with an Imperial accent, that is.]

Yeah, that seems to be the reigning opinion.

[Poe sighs. He's finally coming to accept the repeated assurances that he's stuck here, whether he likes it or not. The accent at least doesn't mean quite as much as it used to. Though it is one that gives Poe brief pause as he considers.]

Yeah? I have a feeling I could use it after today.

It's unfortunate, to say the least. But we have no choice but to try and make the best of it.

[He's not happy about it either, but. Not like there's any choice but to move forward with the cards they've all been dealt.]

I've been experimenting with making alcohol, so yes, I can help with something stronger than caf. If you're looking for something stronger than what I have, there are certain fruits that will get you drunk in a hurry. I don't recommend them.

[Eli greets Poe in his olive grey uniform. Although it appears a little damp and he's carrying some fish in his hand and a roughly made spear in the other. He speaks in a soft, polite tone with a heavy accent. Poe may recognize it as somewhere from the Wild Space or for Earth people southern accent.]

We have a way to communicate as you have discovered, but unfortunately no long rang transmitters. At least not yet.... This place is not exactly put together and we're having to start from scratch in a lot of areas. I miss the technology we had back at home.

[The uniform earns a definite pause, Poe's expression uncertain, but the figure wearing it is so polite and...soft, he seems to land on a begrudging sort of willingness to give him a chance.]

With the right parts we could probably jury rig something...not anything like back home, but maybe enough to get a signal.

That is an idea. I'm sure there are enough people here who would be able to collaborate and put something together. We did just manage to get the power plant back up and running. Hopefully we can find the right parts for it.

They can transport matter across the galaxy, but don't have working ships or communications. Sounds about right. [Poe sighs. This whole thing is a mess.]

Caf? It's uh...it's a drink. Hot, bitter, wakes you up. [Maker he misses caf.]

[He considers, and then:] I think we call it coffee.

And we... kinda have some. It's... not the best, but it's better than nothing. Well. Carol Danvers has some. But she's willing to share.

Welcome, Commander. I am afraid no one is in charge, though as you have probably gathered we do have ships. We have as yet been unable to break atmosphere with them, but they are designed for long-range space travel.

Communications are currently limited to the device you hold, and can be directed to other kidnapped parties or the Agrii. The tall building near the data point you accessed is a comms tower, but it is in poor repair and does not appear to be able to send and receive transmissions to other types of devices.

Comms tower, huh? I'm not the best engineer, but worth taking a look. If we can get a message out there then someone can come to us.
