Video
[The video opens on Poe's face, edges of his jacket still dusted with salt and red earth.]
This is Commander Poe Dameron of the Republic fleet. I'm looking to speak to whoever's in charge here. I've got some pretty pressing issues to deal with back home, and uh...I really need to be getting back. Or at the very least if someone knows of a long range transmitter, or a ship, actually? A ship would be good.
...Or caf. Do you guys have caf here? Or maybe something stronger? That whole...glowy ball thing..., the data point- that happens to everyone, right? [He taps at his temple with a frown. He didn't particularly enjoy that experience.]

[Action]
...Are you looking for my approval, or just making conversation, Hugs? Hux-sorry.
[He arches a brow and shrugs a shoulder.]
You're the one who did the inviting.
[Action]
[He shrugged off his Great Coat and hung it on he railing of the stairway and took off his own gloves.]
Yes, but I believe you were the one who said I wasn't intimidating?
[Action]
Honestly, Poe wasn't sure he actually expected Hux to fight until the man began to off his coat, and his brows arched in faint surprise.]
I'd leave the coat on if you want to maintain any illusion of that. [He confirmed, unable to drop that snark, though his gaze shifted to properly observe the space they were in.]
[Action]
That had been your last chance to get out of this. Again I'm not surprised that you failed to see that opening.
[Hux growled as he proceeded to sucker punch the pilot.]
[Action Forver]
Well- you got Leia beat there-
[His quip was interrupted with a groan, stumbling back with an arm curled at his ribs, and now at least he seemed to be taking the threat Hux posed seriously. And he was maybe regretting not coming into this more prepared.
He gave a breathless sort of laugh, and spread his arms welcomingly.]
That all you got, Hugs?
[Action Forver]
Instead of aiming for the chest, Hux gave a wide kick with his right leg at Poe's legs hoping to throw him off balance. He was hoping the other would be too focused on the possible impact of the chest instead of the rest of his body.]

With a pained huff, Poe pushed after him, fist catching at Hux's shirt to try and limit his movement.]

In order to not loose more momentum he turned and shoved Poe backwards with a free hand.]

[Hux couldn't help but to sneer down at Poe was he loomed over him. He was seeing red at this point and his main focus was seeing Poe unconscious or dead. Any logical reasoning was forgotten.
When he tried so hard to improve on his old ways, all of them were coming back now with the face of his enemy before him. The one that had caused him so much grief.
He made a lunge at Poe's throat. He was bent on wanting to strange him, keep him from making snarky come backs. Feel the same abuse he suffered from.]

Hey!
[ Steve races up and over to grab Hux by the back of his neck and drag him off. ]
What the Hell is goin' on here?
no subject
It's none of your buisness! Now let me go! You just interfered in something that was not yours!
[Hux angrily retorted. There was no attempt to hide his reactions or his intentions.]

Poe was left wheezing as the pressure was abruptly tugged away, hand at his throat as he looked to his unknown savior, attempting to push upright.]
I can handle this- [He argued, for once seeming to agree with Hux, despite how clearly he could not handle it.] Let him go.

What in the world--?
[ Jadzia had been off in her own corner of the power plant, tending to the maintenance of a rather delicate system when she'd heard sounds of the scuffle. She exchanges looks with the men present as she strides up, then crouches down to help Poe to his feet.
Except she's not just helping him to his feet--she's restraining him, too. It's not every day that a newcomer walks into the plant and starts a fight with her colleague, and frankly, that's not the kind of thing she's going to put up with. ]
Clearly you've handled enough already. Would you care to explain exactly what it was you thought you were doing here?
no subject
He told me to come. [He nods towards Hux with narrowed eyes.] And like...an hour ago my time they were about to kill what was left of us, so I think I'm justified in wanting to settle this.
no subject
That and a nickel, pal. Everyone has their justifications.
[ Still, Steve's more than a little wary hearing about someone trying to kill someone else. He doesn't know this guy at all but, from what he can gather and what he knows from Hux, he can make a few guesses. ]
Look. An hour your time coulda been two years for us. Why don't we start at the beginning and figure out what's going on? Being stuck on this planet doesn't need to be made worse with a war starting up.
no subject
[Hux is still struggling to free himself from Steve's grasp. He knows he doesn't have much of a chance, but it was more for show at this point. Had it been anyone else he would have stopped struggling. His face was still flustered, but he was no longer glaring daggers and wanting to kill the other.]
no subject
[Nope. Not important. Poe shakes his head.]
He doesn't just get to walk away from all that, I don't care how long he's been here.
[Poe's eyes narrow then at Hux's choice of words.]
One of them? What did you tell them about us, Hux?
[He doesn't know these people. Maybe Hux has told them everything and they're still on his side. Poe's expression darkens, a distrustful look on his face.]
I said I wasn't intimated by you.
no subject
I don't care who said what or who started it. This ends now. You. [He pulls Hux a few steps away and releases him.] You stay here and you. [He points at Poe] Stay right there and stay quiet till we get both sides of this.
Now, Hux. From the top, what is going on, here? I want all of it out, now.

"We're on opposing sides of a war. A war that my people started believing that we were trying to bring organization to the universe. We waited for the Republic to take action on fixing things and doing what they had promised after the war with the Empire many years ago. Not much has been done but a lot of talk and a lot of regulations that hold them back. When the timing was right we started to make our move in, but there were others who didn't believe in our cause.
My father started a program on how to train soldiers into the best they can be. He based it off of how the Jedi trained their students. It gave many people a chance for a better life by joining us. Most went willingly some didn't go willing. Again the Jedi were the same way. Most went willingly some didn't. We trained kids to be these soldiers and to fight for our cause.
Some how one of our soldiers broke through their training and looked to get out of the First Order. At this time we had captured him due to the fact he had vital information that could have given us the upper hand. Yet, he escaped with the help of our soldier.
We weren't able to get the information needed. They also defeated my weapon the Starkiller. That yes, I had used to destroy an entire system. I had hoped their sacrifice was enough and we wouldn't have to go further. It did bring his people out of their hiding in which with the soldier's help they destroyed my weapon before I fired it on their base. My leader wanted me to destroy the entire system of that base not just the planet. I fought back. My weapon wasn't meant for this. If my leader had his way he would have destroyed the whole world.
Poe also sacrificed half of his fleet to destroy one of my ships. We had already lost many people when my weapon was destroyed as it took out the whole planet. I have to say I was surprised that he would do such a sacrifice with his people. Both sides have lost a lot of people and continued to do so. I had created a device that allowed us to be able to track others in hyperspace. Meaning we could follow them where ever they went. It was the only reason why my leader didn't kill me for my failures. Yet, I still dealt with his wrath and disappointment.
When we had them corned I learned our leader was killed and replaced by someone incompetent. Our new leader was too distracted by an illusion of his former master to pay attention to the actual war. And even lost in his fight against the illusion. When all it was was a distraction to allow them to escape. It's the last thing I remember."
He held his gave with the group, waiting to see how they would judge him.

Nor does he look pleased as Hux speaks, though he keeps silent through out. It's strange to hear the story from Hux's point of view. It doesn't sound nearly so damning as if Poe had been telling it, but the details aren't exactly wrong either.
There's a twitch of his cheek, gaze dropping away at the mention of the lives Poe had cost his fleet. Heroes. Dead heroes. He can practically hear Leia's voice in his mind.
His head lifts again at that parting detail, hope reigniting in his eyes. They escape?]
...You enslaved and ended countless lives. That's not order. We were fighting for the freedom of everyone.... they knew what they were- [He breaks off, voice catching, over emotional, and he narrows his eyes at Hux as though it's his fault.] ...They were good people. My friends. And they died to keep hope alive.

She has to school her expression into neutrality. This isn't exactly the kind of thing that Starfleet trains you for. It isn't something that lifetimes of experience as Dax could have prepared her for. Poe might feel her grip on him tighten, but she eases up just as quickly.
Regardless of how she feels, however, she knows for a fact that letting her emotions get the best of her is the wrong way to go. They have to be pragmatic, which she knows might not fly over well with either of them. ]
I know this is ... an untenable situation for both of you. [ An understatement. ] But listen--we can't afford to be at each other's throats right now.
[ She releases Poe, then, crossing her arms sternly as she meets their eyes again. ]
On this world, we all have to cooperate if we're going to survive. If that means the two of you avoid each other entirely, then that's what you'll have to do. I don't expect you to become friends, but this violence? It has to end here.
no subject
Jadzia is right. I don't care if you two need to comm each other to make sure you never meet up again, but this fighting stops now.
[Steve turns to Hux, knowing that he must be smarting from saying all he had. Steve pats him on the shoulder lightly even if he doesn't manage a smile. He turns to Poe next and nods at him as well.]
The goal right now is just survival. I know this can't be easy for either of you, but the war isn't here. We gotta work together. And if you can't, fine, but no more fighting or antagonizing. Got it?

Some of the news though that Poe shared was a surprise. At the same time with it being Captain Phasma he understood her methods of handling things. Had he been there he would have kept her from destroying the village. Really the command was only destroy if they protected the person they were after. It didn't sound as if they had done that. They probably fought because of the First Order presence. That itself was to be expected. To argue this would be pointless now.
He flinched at Steve's attempt to offer some support. He was never one for physical contact and it was still new to deal with. He did admire Jadzia's attempt to keep neutral to everything despite the information she learned.]
I particularly don't care how all of you judge me in the end. I know many of you won't fully understand the purpose of the war or what happened in itself. However, I do appreciate the fact that you took the time to listen to both sides and to hear everything out despite how much it was hard to accept.
What I've done in the past can't be undone and it's a fate I've accepted when I gave the orders. I had only hoped it would pave for a better way in the end. My people have never left the war or the military way of life. I had no choice in the matter, but had been raised among it. It's the only thing I know.
Having been part of the Fleet and now being taken here, I have had a chance to view life differently. It's been a learning experience and a challenge. I've been making an attempt to redeem my ways.
[Hux paused briefly so everyone to take the time to digest what he said. His gaze fell back on Poe but not with hatred, but in a nonchalant manner. He then continued on.]
I had never imagined I would eventually see someone from my own world and time. Needless to say, it was a shock to find out it was the one person that caused me much grief. I can't promise we will get along, but I will do my best to not drag the war here.

He knows that Hux isn't the height of the First Order, he's not responsible for every one of their actions, but he's responsible for a fair few, and he's not prepared to forget that any time soon, however much he may have changed in this place. ]
...Old rules then, I won't engage unless shots are fired first.
[That had been the policy before they were openly at war with one another.]
