[The video opens on Poe's face, edges of his jacket still dusted with salt and red earth.]

This is Commander Poe Dameron of the Republic fleet. I'm looking to speak to whoever's in charge here. I've got some pretty pressing issues to deal with back home, and uh...I really need to be getting back. Or at the very least if someone knows of a long range transmitter, or a ship, actually? A ship would be good.

...Or caf. Do you guys have caf here? Or maybe something stronger? That whole...glowy ball thing..., the data point- that happens to everyone, right? [He taps at his temple with a frown. He didn't particularly enjoy that experience.]

What issues would those be? Sacrificing more of your team?

[There's a notable a delay. Yeah, that one hurts. And...he knows that voice...]

...Hugs?

[There was a slight smirk, knowing that he got to Poe easily with the comment. That smirk was quickly replaced with the sound of grinding teeth.]

It's General Hux to you. You're little friends aren't here. It's just you and me.

How is that even- I'm sorry- wait- is that supposed to be intimidating? Just you?

[Poe gives an amused snort, a biting tone to his voice.]

[ The face that greets him is that of a sympathetic young woman--a girl, really. ]

Hi, Commander. I'm Katara, and I've been here for a while now. Believe me when I say I know how you feel about having some 'pressing issues' to deal with. Luckily, it seems like the people who took us are able to put us back right where we left off, no matter how long it's been. Several people here come from different points in time.

[ She smiles kindly. ]

I don't know what 'caf' is, but there are 'space ships.' [ The air quotes are easy to detect. This girl isn't used to dealing with technology, it seems. ]

[Hux can't help but laugh darkly at the comment that was meant to insult him.]

Meet me at this location face to face. All you pilots are always the same with your cocky attitude and always flying off the handle.

{/insert location and time.}

[Poe smiles warmly.]

Just Poe's fine. Good to meet you, Katara.

[His head tilts curiously, but some of the tension seems to leave his brow, and he gives a soft hum.]

Huh...Well that's....reassuring, I guess.

[The unfamiliarity is definitely strange, and Poe's brow furrows briefly, but it can't quite dampen his eagerness.]

There are?? Where are they? Are they operational?

What, you seriously expect me to show up?

[He scoffs, as though they don't both know Poe's not about to back down from such a direct challenge.]

...your best soldiers couldn't break me, Hux, you're not going to do any better.

All talk and no show.

--Never compare me to that fool.

What, Ren? [Evidently not who Poe had meant, as he had ultimately broken him. A fact that makes Poe breathe a tense huff.]

...I'll be there.

[And true to his word, Poe follows the coordinates at the appropriate time, hesitating briefly as he approaches the building. This is most definitely a stupid decision. Hux has the upper hand here, but Poe can't find it in himself to back down, even knowing he's walking into a trap.

He steps inside, eyes skirting about, and he blows on his hands to try and warm them from the chill of outside as he looks for Hux.]

Nice to meet you, too, Poe. I felt that way too, when I found out. I was taken from the aftermath of a battle. I'd just finished healing my friend, but I was still really worried. Am still really worried, but I know he'll be waiting for me when I get back.

There are six ships. I can show you where they are if you'd like. They have power and the food goo machines work. I don't know if you can fly them, though.

[There's a sympathetic look, and Poe nods. He very much understands how she must be feeling.]

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure he will be.

[Of course, he misunderstands her next words, flashing a cocky sort of smirk.]

I can fly anything, kid. You show me to a ship and I can get it off the ground.

[A small handmade mouse droid greets Poe at the entrance and chirping away it leads deeper into the power plant.

Hux is standing on top of a bridge looking down when they enter. Poe would be able to see how much of a disarray the building was in, but it was obvious that a lot of work was being done to make it habitable. Mint had also managed to break it's way through much to Hux's dismay.]

I was beginning to think you weren't going to show up.

...Hey Buddy. [Something like a smile pulls at the corners of Poe's lips at the chirping of the droid, and he follows after it. It's...impressive. Not that he'll admit it out loud.

Poe continues to scan as the droid leads him, taking in all the work that seems to have been done on this place.

He frowns when they finally make it to Hux and he's forced to incline his head to meet his gaze.]

I said I'd come, didn't I?

I'm surprised you managed to find the building.

[He greeted in a dry tone. As he spoke, Hux slowly took his time down the stairs that lead from the bridge.]

I've been working on this place since my arrival. There was help, but not many. Nor was it an easy task. In order to have an operating city, you need power.

Now, exactly what purpose are you trying to prove here?

[The slow decent definitely earns an eyeroll, shifting his weight to watch him, and Poe folds his arms against his chest impatiently. Is all this for his benefit, or can Hux just not help himself but show off, he wonders.]

...Are you looking for my approval, or just making conversation, Hugs? Hux-sorry.

[He arches a brow and shrugs a shoulder.]

You're the one who did the inviting.

I have no reason to seek approval the likes of you. I was merely providing you a brief history of what you're about to deal with.

[He shrugged off his Great Coat and hung it on he railing of the stairway and took off his own gloves.]

Yes, but I believe you were the one who said I wasn't intimidating?

No? [Poe gave a small laugh, and flashed him a look as though he very much didn't believe him. Hux clearly had something to prove.

Honestly, Poe wasn't sure he actually expected Hux to fight until the man began to off his coat, and his brows arched in faint surprise.]

I'd leave the coat on if you want to maintain any illusion of that. [He confirmed, unable to drop that snark, though his gaze shifted to properly observe the space they were in.]

[Hux glowered and with in taking two steps forward, he slapped him hard across the cheeks. Hard enough a bruise would be left behind.]

That had been your last chance to get out of this. Again I'm not surprised that you failed to see that opening.

[Hux growled as he proceeded to sucker punch the pilot.]

[It was an action Poe clearly wasn't prepared for, even as he watched Hux approach, and he swore sharply as his head snapped to the side, touching his palm to his cheek with a surprised (and pained) expression.]

Well- you got Leia beat there-

[His quip was interrupted with a groan, stumbling back with an arm curled at his ribs, and now at least he seemed to be taking the threat Hux posed seriously. And he was maybe regretting not coming into this more prepared.

He gave a breathless sort of laugh, and spread his arms welcomingly.]

That all you got, Hugs?

[ Katara smiles thankfully at his reassurances, though her expression shifts to one of amusement more than anything when speaks of his flying prowess. ]

Sure. [ She sounds entirely unconvinced. ] There are other pilots here, too. You need to get the skill from the right datapoint or it won't work for you.

[Republic. That is grounds for pause, but not too long ago, he worked alongside the Republic and it went alright. And besides, this might not be the Republic he knows, and besides even that, going about making enemies in a precarious situation helps no one.]

Chances are you'll be here for the long haul regardless of pressing business at home, I'm afraid. It's like that for everyone here.

There are ships, but none that are inclined to work. Though that is likely by design rather than an inherent fault in their construction.

[A pause.]

Can't help you with the caf, I'm afraid. I can help with something stronger though.

[Assuming he's willing to trust a person with an Imperial accent, that is.]

[Ah. Poe frowns very pointedly at that. First because he is still sure there is nothing he can't figure out how to fly, and secondly, he really didn't like how the last one reminded him of Ren forcing his way into his mind.]

Well, we'll see about that.

Yeah, that seems to be the reigning opinion.

[Poe sighs. He's finally coming to accept the repeated assurances that he's stuck here, whether he likes it or not. The accent at least doesn't mean quite as much as it used to. Though it is one that gives Poe brief pause as he considers.]

Yeah? I have a feeling I could use it after today.

[ Katara gets it--it's frustrating not to be able to do something you should by rights know how to do without assistance from a glowing orb that puts new knowledge in your brain. She nods and chuckles softly. ]

Look, I come from a world where the most technologically advanced nation on the planet only just figured out how to use balloons as a means of travel. [ To make war, but that's less relevant here. ] Maybe you're right and you'll be able to figure it out, no problem. It's worth a shot, right?
