This was too much. His anger was still roaring, his blood pounding in his ears, his thoughts running too fast for even him to catch up to. And Tommy just had to do what he could to calm down. He'd tried his island and stopped that when he's knocked into a tree with too much force. It fell over and he knew he was going to bruise badly from it. Then dove into the water to cool off.

Even that wasn't enough so he did the next best thing he could. He took off to find the only person he could talk to right now.

Which was showing up at Kyle's room at the hotel. Doesn't even bother to knock, or even open the door. Just vibes through.

"Kyle," he called, shocked by how raw his voice was from his distress.

It's not really about sexy, Tommy.

This is a horrible idea and Kyle will judge him and not love him and there are so many things he could say and will say and doesn't know what to do about the saying of it, but Kyle wants to know, and Tommy hasn't spoken of it much except with Wanda and...

His mind circled like d dog chasing it's tail until he finally sighed.

"After I accidentally blew up part of my school, well, everyone got that my powers meant I couldn't go into a normal jail. Turned out there was an organization that kept powered teens off the streets. Except they weren't all nice people."

"So basically a maximum security prison for a children, no doubt free from any of the already dubious protections prisoners usually get," Kyle said. He sounded pissed.

"Which means that they were allowed to do whatever they wanted to you. Oh, Tommy, I'm so sorry."

[doubled_speed]

"Worse than just a max security prison for kids," Tommy answered, his voice soft. "Mary and Frank signed their parental rights over to them, Kyle. I belonged to that place and they could do what they wanted. And they wanted weapons."

He was supposed to be one. Had come out just short of it.

Kyle slid down to the ground to pull Tommy into a hug.

"They made you do really bad stuff, huh?"

"I know what force it takes to make a heart explode," Tommy whispered. "I know exactly how much food I need to still tap my powers, but feel like I'm starving. I can't stand dogs because of them."

Kyle hugged him tighter. The implications were horrifying, and his heart ached for Tommy then, going through so much terror and pain, and Tommy now still dealing with the trauma.

Hurt doesn't go away, Kyle thought. It burrows deeper.

"I can understand why you're so worried."

[doubled_speed]

Everything he knew and had ever known about people looking closely at mutant powers was pain and suffering. So of course he didn't trust it.

"If it wasn't for Billy and his team showing up, they would have won."

[kyley_b]

"I'm so sorry, dude." He rubbed Tommy's back in slow circles.

"It's not okay that that happened. And it's okay you're scared. It's a little different this time, but... I understand why you're freaked out."

Why is it different? Tommy wants to demand just why it was different. Something told him he wouldn't get an answer.

"My brother is powerful, Kyle. Imagine someone here, not just the Atroma, getting their hands on him."

[kyley_b]

"Do you think it's likely he'd show them anything that could put him at risk? Because if so, he's putting the rest of us at risk too, potentially."

[doubled_speed]

Tommy curled his legs up against his chest. This was horrible.

"Billy doesn't use his powers unless he has a very specific image. He knows better than to do it. Because he knows how it can go wrong."

[kyley_b]

Kyle sighed and finally sat back a little. "Well. Then we probably shouldn't be worried. But I am."

He thought for a moment, hand finding Tommy's knee.

"Tell me what you think they'll do."

Tommy was absolutely worried, but it came down to the fact that he wanted his brother safe from people like that.

"This guy can't even accept the idea of people spending the day at a beach, so why should he care about not hurting my brother? And someone that makes his big fluffy guard dog that angry is probably not trustworthy."

[kyley_b]

"At the very least, I worry about his ability to be emotionally sensitive," Kyle said.

"Will Lauri-Ell recognise when Billy is upset?"

[doubled_speed]

"I don't know. I don't even know her other than she considers him more important than the rest of us."

Simple as that in his mind.

"What if the guy hurts him?"

[kyley_b]

"I can talk to her," Kyle offered. "See if she can grasp any nuance in his feelings, you know? So he won't have to SAY if something is uncomfortable."

Kyle squeezed Tommy's knee. "Then we beat his ass."

[doubled_speed]

"I try my best not to hurt people," Tommy whispered, squeezing his legs again. "But him? I threatened him, Kyle."

[kyley_b]

"Of course you did. It's your brother. Shit, I threatened him too, and I meant it."

[doubled_speed]

Wait, Kyle threatened him? Tommy's eyes shot up and he twisted quickly to look up at Kyle.

"You're so hot right now."

[kyley_b]

Kyle snorted laughter. "Because I told him I'd kick his ass? I'll do it, too. I'm human, nobody can say it ain't a fair fight."

[doubled_speed]

Tommy would approve of that, quite a bit. With a sigh he leaned more against Kyle. This guy was fucking the best.

"You're a good guy, Kyle. I hope you don't have to beat him up."

[kyley_b]

Kyle grinned. "I'm not THAT good."

[doubled_speed]

Good enough to make Tommy say it, though he knew it was quite likely that Kyle wouldn't care.

"We can beat him up together."

[kyley_b]

"That's hot," Kyle said honestly.

But then he shifted to put an arm around Tommy.

"I'll listen, you know. If you wanna tell me stuff. Like if something bothers you, or whatever."
