This was too much. His anger was still roaring, his blood pounding in his ears, his thoughts running too fast for even him to catch up to. And Tommy just had to do what he could to calm down. He'd tried his island and stopped that when he's knocked into a tree with too much force. It fell over and he knew he was going to bruise badly from it. Then dove into the water to cool off.

Even that wasn't enough so he did the next best thing he could. He took off to find the only person he could talk to right now.

Which was showing up at Kyle's room at the hotel. Doesn't even bother to knock, or even open the door. Just vibes through.

"Kyle," he called, shocked by how raw his voice was from his distress.

"Can't be," Kyle says with a smirk. He wraps his arms around Tommy's shoulders and pulls him closer.

"You're gonna be okay," he says softly.

"Why the fuck not?" Tommy asked. "No one ever tell you that you could be anything you wanted when you grew up?"

No, he's not. He's broken. It doesn't get better.

Kyle laughs softly. "You know what I learned, Tommy? If you start thinking of yourself as a saint, as a martyr, you're probably just being a self important dick."

He strokes Tommy's hair absently. "Besides, I'd make a lousy stained glass window. Imagine all the red glass they'd need."

[doubled_speed]

Oh no, tha'ts funny. Tommy started to snicker, leaning against Kyle.

"Really? Stained glass? That's why you're saying no?"

[kyley_b]

"Oh, of course," he replies, smiling. "Think of the windowmakers, Tommy."

[doubled_speed]

"You're denying them the pleasure of trying to catch that shade of red. There could have been glass making advancements."

That amused him.

[kyley_b]

"I also feel it's probably sacrilegious for everyone involves, so we'll just spare everybody the headache," he chuckles. Kyle pushes Tommy's hair back gently and kisses his temple.

"Although I'd make a pretty funny statue."

[doubled_speed]

Sacrilegious? Huh, Tommy hadn't thought of that. See, he's terrible at this religion shit.

"I think you'd be a perfectly fine statue."

[kyley_b]

Kyle giggles. "Just me, looking skyward all annoyed." He can picture it too easily. "You feel a little better?"

[doubled_speed]

"A little," Tommy confirms, and he moves to lay back down, pulling Kyle with him.

"I hate this. All of this. I hate this world. I hate not sleeping well."

He can't tire himself out properly to avoid the dreams.

He goes easily, keeping himself wrapped around Tommy as much as he can. "Yeah," he agrees. "This place bites. Is there anything that helps you sleep?"

[doubled_speed]

"Running or working myself utterly exhausted. Not really an easy option here."

So he tries not to think about it too much. Not a good life choice if he does. He just has to deal the best he can

"Jeez. And that probably fucks up how much food you need?" he asks.

[doubled_speed]

"Bingo," Tommy agreed. "We're getting to a point where I can start eating closer to the proper amounts but..."

But. Sure he's blown a lot of energy today, but he's still not what he should be. Surely Kyle can see it. Back in the dream he'd been a properly toned Speed. Now he's not looking like he's starving, but he definite doesn't have hte same muscle definition.

"We'll get there. I'll fatten you up on space lobster. In the meantime, maybe if we find a way to exhaust your brain... that could help."

[doubled_speed]

Space lobster. Tommy wants to laugh.

"And how do you propose to do that?"

[kyley_b]

"Gonna train birds to catch em. Ezra says he might be able to use his Jedi mind tricks or whatever, help me train em." An army of birds! Well, he's just hoping for one or two.

[doubled_speed]

"I meant the tiring out my mind," he offered with a smile. But he doesn't mind hearing about the things Kyle cares about. It's nice. He closes his eyes just to listen.

[kyley_b]

"Oh!" He chuckles. "Duh, Kyle. Well, you know, maybe we can find some books or something, I dunno." He sees Tommy's eyes close and resolves to keep his own open until he's sure the other man is asleep.

"I read a lot growing up, it helped me sleep even when I was stressed out or if I woke up from a bad dream. Like, okay, you know the Lord of the Rings probably, but do you know the Hobbit? 'Cause it's this fun little story, right? Great opening line. 'In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit.'"

And yes, Kyle proceeds to start telling the general plot of the novel, droning on until his throat gets dry, somewhere around when the party gets to Rivendell. He peeks at Tommy to see if he's asleep.

"I read a lot at home too. Reading can work at my speed, if I'm careful with the pages," Tommy answered. But there wasn't exactly a lot of books here for him to work with. Still, he stays quietly and thoughtful while he listens to Kyle.

And the sound of the man's voice was soothing enough that slowly, surely, Tommy nodded off to sleep.

Certain that Tommy is fast asleep, Kyle very, very softly whispers, "I'll look after you, dude." Only then does he carefully shift so that he too can get back to sleep.
