A New Home
WHO: Obi-Wan Kenobi and YOU
WHERE: The Museum aka The New Jedi Temple
WHAT: Making a new temple for the Jedi!
WHEN: All of April
WARNINGS: None atm
The first days after they arrived back from Coruscant, Obi-Wan was busy. The Jedi essentially hitting the ground running now that he’s been energized by his vacation back home. The first priority was making sure Padme and the twins were comfortable. Then came the task of finding an appropriate place in Temba for a temple.
Before the impromptu trip to Coruscant someone had suggested the amphitheater. However upon looking it over the Jedi decided it didn’t suit the purposes that were needed. So he kept looking. Though he didn’t have to look far as he came across a cluster of buildings that seemed to be a museum complex. After looking over the overgrown and run down grounds he decided that it would be perfect. It would just need some cleaning up and repurposing.
Thus a call is put out on the network. Asking for help in setting up this new home for the Jedi if anyone is willing. Those with the engineering data points would be especially appreciated, as would the advice of those with agriculture for setting up a garden. But really any free hands would do with the promise of the favor being returned down the road.
The time didn’t matter as Obi-Wan will be working on it all month. Cleaning out the buildings and their exhibits. Pieces of artifacts carefully picked up and put away for later sorting and hopefully reassembly. One of the smaller buildings being converted into a holding place for animals and/or potential vehicles. The other intended for living spaces. The largest building was a grand hall and Obi-Wan intended this to be the main structure for learning, sparring, meeting, and whatever else they could use it for. Last but not least the smallest, yet very tall building with a large platform inside was to be made into a place of meditation.
There is a lot to be done and more hands make light work!
((OOC: Feel free to consider this a mingle thread! Obi-Wan isn’t the only Jedi around but I’ll throw him at anyone unless specified otherwise.))

But the padawan hadn't forgotten Obi-Wan's goal, and once the Jedi master had put out his request now that he'd decided upon the site for a Jedi temple, Cal didn't hesitate to offer his assistance, in engineering and otherwise as needed.
Being no stranger to clearing things out and dismantling as needed, Cal can either be found doing either of those tasks or working on some loose wiring here and there. The museum isn't one of the places he'd explored to scavenge, so he takes the opportunity to collect things that might be salvageable or used for parts, having brought a cart from his workshop and set it off to the side of the main room for anyone to deposit anything.
Naturally BD-1 is accompanying him, dangling off the padawan's rigger harness. True, he'd gotten some new clothes in Coruscant, but if he's to be doing some dirty work, his old set's durable enough for that.

Dismantling a lot of what was already here so it could be rebuilt and reorganized was a big task. Obi-Wan let Cal work where he wished while he was off working in another building. Eventually though the Jedi Master came to check on his work. Not surprised to see him with his droid and a cart as they gathered scraps. The Jedi walking over and taking a look around.
“How is it going, my young friend? I see you’ve made a lot of progress.”
no subject
"I'll have to do some welding up there for the power, just a minor fix thankfully." He points out an open paneling off on one side of the room. "Kind of wish we could have seen how the place looked when it was operational."
no subject
“Yes, it would have been nice to see this place in its former glory. I hope we can do at least some justice to what remains.”
Moving over to one side he picks up some stray debris and places it where Cal seems to have sorted what he found. “Which also has me wondering. Do you have any plans for staying with us here when it’s finished?”

"That's quite the collection you're gathering there."
no subject
"Yeah, I guess it is," he chuckles. "Figured it couldn't hurt to do some scavenging while we're clearing things out. Hopefully we'll be able to make some use out of it." He wipes his hands on a rag tucked into his belt, head tilting at her.
"You're Senator Amidala, aren't you?"
no subject
To Cal, she nods. "Yes. But, please, call me Padme. I hold no office here."

OTA
While he works, the juvenile brown spotted tooka he'd made friends with is often nearby, finding bits of things to bat around, and occasionally getting underfoot and into things in ways that makes Ezra yelp or call out to her scoldingly. He doesn't immediately settle on a name or nickname, relying on the slight but lingering connection through the Force he'd made when he first came across her in the streets of Coruscant to convey his attention and intent.
One project in particular he tackles, with some input from Master Kenobi, is blocking out a stall to house the Jedi Master's varactyl companion, Boga. Ezra's tooka friend, in turn, is perhaps a little too interested in the large colorful lizard for Boga's comfort.
Another project he focuses on is the garden. While he's pondered switching to the piloting data point, for now he makes use of the knowledge from the agricultural data point to get the garden started with seeds and other off world supplies he procured that he's concluded are compatible with Agra-10's ecology.
It's not unusual to find Ezra flopped out in the grass between buildings for a breather or quick nap as the day winds down. The combination of physical and psychic activity is satisfying but tiring. Oftentimes the tooka joins him, curled up again his side or shoulder - playing and investigation is also hard work!
no subject
"No, probably not a bad idea," he says, responding to the inquisitive beeps of his droid buddy. "Maybe soon though." They'd gotten a lot of work done for the day.
no subject
A second later the tooka's head pops up, and she tilts her head at BD-1.
no subject
BD-1 swings off Cal's harness to grasp onto the material of his sleeve as he tries to get a better view of the curious creature. He finally drops down to the grass with an inquisitive hoot. Cal gestures with a tip of his chin. "Who's your friend?" he asks.

That's a warning tone for the little Tooka as Echo takes a second to make sure she isn't getting too carried away in bothering the Varactyl. He chuckles, however, then looking back over to where Ezra is still figuring out the stall situation.
"Everything okay over there? You've been quiet."
no subject
He steps back from measuring materials out with rope as a make shift ruler.
"I don't think I've thanked you for helping out with all this, So, thanks, Echo."

She probably waits until Ezra's hands are fully occupied with the garden before she materializes next to him in a fog of green ichor. Her expression is impassive, as usual, though her head is tilted at an inquisitive angle.
"Ezra Bridger. You need help," she says, her tone somewhere between a statement and a question.
no subject
But after staring a second, he shakes himself out of startlement to give her a sunny smile. "Hey, Merrin. Sure, I could use another pair of hands. Done much gardening? I'm kinda new at it, myself."

“Yes, it’s good to see you too, my feathered friend. I see you’re keeping Ezra company.”
Despite all the hard work, the Jedi master has been in good spirits overall since the trip to Coruscant. This moment was no different. He was ready to make this place a home to live and learn in.
“I came to see how you are doing. Good to know you have two helpers,” he says to the Padawan as he inspects Ezra’s handiwork.

Said tooka comes out from peering around the half built stall and trots closer to Obi-wan, tail up with a curl at the end like a question mark.

OTA
When the garden is being set up, she decides to add a personal touch. Finding some lumber, she begins to construct a trellis. She's not skilled enough to build a greenhouse, but she can manage this much. On one particularly nice day, she's got the sides up on saw horses and is leaning over them with a small tool. If anyone comes closer they'll notice she's carving small leaves and vines into the wood. They're not perfect (art was never her strong suit) but they're recognizable enough.
no subject
"Oh, hey, way fancier than what I've managed to do so far," he says, delighted by the detailing.
no subject
She looks up when he speaks, smiling. "Thank you. I'm not as good as my friend Sabe. She could carve vines that would look positively alive." Straightening, she smooths a stray hair back from her face. "I can't do much of the work needed here, so I thought I'd make the space a little more beautiful."

Thus he is glad to see Padme working on her own little project in the garden. It also allows him a moment to sneak away and pick up something he had set aside for such an occasion. This was perfect actually.
Eventually the Jedi came back, his voice calling out to the senator as he came close. “That’s a lovely structure you’ve put together. Do you think these will look nice with it?”
What Obi-Wan was carrying with him was a couple of hanging pots. Both of them spilling over with red blooms that she would know very well. He had found some Queen’s Heart for sale in one of Coruscant’s greenhouses.
no subject
"Hmm?" Padme looks up at the familiar voice. When her eyes fall on the flowers she gasps. The woodworking tool tumbles from her fingers as one hand flies to her mouth. "Obi-Wan... How?" She steps forward to meet him, her other hand reaching to touch the petals of one of the flowers she loves so much and never thought she'd see again.

Owning a beast of burden, like the blurrg, didn't hurt either. The beast was coming in real useful moving and clearing debris with the cart that had been built for it. The two of them could be found working either the temple or the housing. Today they were at the temple, or at least Din is, helping where he needs to.

He was in the process of hanging some wind chimes on the building he had dubbed as the meditation site when he caught sight of Mando. Clearly the Jedi is in good spirits as he’s back to teasing the other man. “It’s good to see you here, and your companion there.”
There was indeed a lot of work to be done still and the Jedi was always happy for more help.

He's not the smoothest of talkers, most of the time, but he is sincere.
