A New Friend and Other Stories of a Paladin
WHO: Shiro and You
WHERE: Around Temba
WHAT: Shiro spending some time around Temba, including Glownie
WHEN: The month of June
WARNINGS: None yet
Greenhouse
In order to help out, Shiro had started going to the greenhouse to assist where he could. He wasn't the most knowledgeable with plants, data point or not, but he could handle jobs like watering and weeding. All tasks that needed to get done in order to make sure that the plants they did have thrived so they would grow.
Also harvesting mint as he had been spending time with the Glownies, but that was not today.
Today he had set himself to weeding, humming a little bit under his breath as he did.
Starduck
The kitchen seemed to a safe enough place on the ship to just hang out. Shiro had headed in there, settling himself at a table, sipping at his cup of tea. He was lost in thought, staring at the wall for a moment as though it might do something interesting at any moment.
Of course... it wasn't.
Glownies!
Shiro had been spending time with the Glownies ever since Tommy had introduced him to them. They were rather cute and something about them was very calming to him. Spending time with them was a productive way to look after an animal and take care of them and relax at the same time. Sometimes, he'd talk to them about things and they'd listen but not necessarily really understand and couldn't repeat. Things that were just good to get off his chest... like the fact that he still was trying to process what had happened to Adam.
But it meant that no one else heard it... maybe.
One of the days though, when he was returning back, he found he had a tagalong. One of the Glownies had snuck out and decided to follow him. It was rather happily trotting along after him, tail flipping.
"What are you doing?" Shiro asked it with a smile. "Are you trying to come home with me?"
[ooc: if your character would be around the Glownie pasture, feel free to have them overhear Shiro talking to the Glownies]

Glownies Indeed!
So when she caught sight of a glownie following someone out of the farm, she had to stop and smile to the man.
"I believe you have made a friend," she offered with a warm smile, her hands folded before herself, resting lightly against the deep green of the robes she wore, edged with a band of black triangular fringe near her feet and at the edges of her long sleeves. "Perhaps I could assist in guiding it back to its place?"
Woohoo
He nodded his head at the offer. "Yeah, I'd appreciate the help. Don't really want the herd to wonder where this one went. Right?" He reached out to pet the Glownie with his normal arm. The other was essentially a disembodied, robotic arm that hovered by itself.
Re: Woohoo
At last she caught sight of his arm, though, and her hand came up and over her mouth for a moment. It was like magic, but so much more than any she had ever seen.
Truly the technology here was a wonder. Lark tried not to stare, turning her attention instead to the glownie. It was more polite that way.
"Yes, they seem a very social animal, much like sheep. It would be missed."
no subject
He noticed the attention on his arm, but it was soon gone and back onto the Glownie. A much better place, he thought.
"Yeah, they are. Probably there are a few wondering where it went already. Why don't we head back, buddy?" he asked the Glownie reaching over to pet it again, only to be met by the Glownie trying to play now, practically bouncing between the two of them. "Yeah, this will probably take two sets of hands."
no subject
"Hold it for a moment, I'll leash it."
How could a thread leash the thing? Who knew.
no subject
The Glownie was distracted... also didn't hurt he broke out some mint to get its attention.
He eyes the thread, but he didn't question it. He's learned by this point not to question too many things. Space and other worlds were very different than home.
no subject
"There, if it tries to pull away, it will have to pull me as well. So we'll keep track of it."
no subject
"Luckily, I don't think they are really that strong. So if it does decide to try and run, it probably won't get far. Thanks for your help."
He made a clicking sound, trying to coax the tiny horse to walk back in the direction of the pasture.
"I'm Shiro by the way."
no subject
"I am Lark. It is an honor to meet you on this day, Shiro," she offered, her voice warm and level, just meant to be soothing. Here was someone used to being a comfort and support to others.
"Should I presume you often work with these beauties?"

Starduck
He's not expecting to find someone just chilling in the galley as if it's their house, and freezes like a deer in headlights for a moment.
"Uhhhh, hi."
no subject
"Hi. Not expecting to see someone in here?"
Since he looked rather surprised.

He stood up to begin putting together the offered items.
"Shiro. Nice to meet you, Peter. It's going well. How about with you?"
no subject
He paused, mulling it all over. "But at least I'm getting a sandwich."
no subject
He nodded his head. “Yeah, at least you are getting a sandwich. I think everyone needs one after getting here.”

Glownies!
She'd stopped to soothe Luke after Leia had accidentally hit him with one flailing fist. Holding him in one arm, she was gently rocking him when she noticed the pair. She laughed, "It seems like you've made a friend."
no subject
He smiled, both at her and at the children. "It seems I have. This little Glownie decided he wanted to follow me home." The tiny horse moved over to stand next to him as though curious who had his attention now. "I'm sure he wouldn't mind meeting the children there."
no subject
She came from a planet with far more bizarre creatures than that, and it would be good for the children to interact with animals. They were a little too young to do much beyond stare and burble at them, but as long as the Glownies behaved, that would be fine.
no subject
But it certainly seemed well-behaved, standing and looking at the children, tail flicking a bit as though it were happy.
"What are their names?"
no subject
"Luke and Leia." She gestured to indicate which was which. Though how she could tell them apart was anyone's guess.
no subject
So both for the Glownie and the children, it was better that way in the long run.
“Well, it is nice to meet both of you,” Shiro said to the children. He would certainly try to remember which was which, but he knew he’d probably fail at that. “And it’s nice to meet you as well,” he said this time to Padme. “I’m Shiro.”
no subject
Padme nodded, her smile widening. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Shiro. I'm Padme."
no subject
"Padme," he repeated, committing her name to memory. "Have you been here long?"
