Night at the Museum (OTA)

WHO: Kyle Broflovski and YOU!
WHERE: The Underground of Coruscant (Level 4)
WHAT: A very wholesome field trip to the lost Galactic Museum.
WHEN: During the event. (Mid-ish?)
WARNINGS: The foulest of language. Injury extremely likely. More as needed.



Kyle's seen aliens before.

A group of them from the Jannex Galaxy, a spaceship full of greys, the Marklar, and Jeff Bezos. This is the first time he's seen quite so many different kinds in one place, but even so it doesn't take him long to feel comfortable enough to talk to a few of them at the Senate Tour that Obi-Wan had suggested he take. One of these friendly aliens had mentioned in passing that it was a pity that the Galactic Museum could no longer be toured, due to it having been lost and forgotten somewhere down on Level 4.

A lost museum seems to Kyle like exactly the sort of thing the Agrii would want them to find. And even if not, well. Kyle really likes museums.

Is it difficult to get to Level 4? Oh, yes. And extremely dangerous. This doesn't deter Kyle one bit, and so he puts out a call on the Network to let people know that hey, he's putting together a museum field trip and anybody is welcome to come! Provided, that is, that you don't mind finding your way down through huge portals/ventilation shafts into a world where sunlight is less than a memory and dangerous people and creatures lurk around every corner.

But hey, if you decide to come down, you'll find a too-tall ginger waiting for you with some flashlights and a notepad.

You bet your ass he's going to force you to use the Buddy System.

Dude, ultimate souvenir. Who wouldn't want a piece of history?

"Yeah, but where is the question..." Stupid space cases. Raphael frowns when his search yields no gaps to exploit. Spinning his weapon around, he pulls back his arm, clearly intent to try bashing the case in with its pommel.

"Waitwaitwait!" Kyle shouts, waving his hands. "Uhm. I mean. Should we really break it? It's priceless history."

Kyle's sudden protest has Raphael's fist yank to an abrupt halt then. Weapon still raised, he gives Kyle a look.

"It's also been left down here to gather dust and space rust for all we know. Look at this place! If it's priceless they shouldn't have left it! We'd be doing these things a favor if we could put 'em to use or something."

"Oh. Okay, that's a good point," Kyle concedes.

He braces himself for the noise. "Go for it, dude."

[rage_on]

"I mean why not-?!" the turtle retorts preemptively, then blinks when he realizes that Kyle's actually agreed with him. He grins. "Right? Glad you see it my way."

Then he resumes his initial plan, swinging the butt of his sai against the case.

Even if it IS priceless history, it's also still REALLY cool, and a childish part of Kyle really wants to see the weapons up close.

When the glass doesn't immediately shatter, Kyle exhales a breath he hadn't been fully aware he'd been holding.

"No?"

Maybe he should have figured there were other reasons the things were left alone for so long. Raphael shakes out his hand. "-oh sewer apples, really??"

He gives a few quicker jabs at the case then. "What's this thing made of?!"

"Dude, I dunno. Looks like glass to me. Plexiglass maybe? Weird alien glass?"

He steps closer to peer at the case. "Dammit, there's gotta be a lock to bust..."

With a huff, the turtle steps back from his thus far fruitless attempts. At this point he might just end up blunting his weapon. "Maybe it's electronic or something? Magnets? I don't know what they use in space cities."

Raphael shoves his sai away as he looks around for some kind of controls. Usually if he stabs those they power down locks pretty fast, at least with the Kraang holding cells.

"Well, I don't know either," Kyle says. "I'm from the really boring earth, remember?"

The room is so dark and so old it's very hard to see anything, but close inspection will reveal a small box on the wall not far from a side door. It could very well control the locks. It could also just as easily be an alarm system, or the lights. Considering that the museum has no power it's very likely none of them would work, anyway.

"Something broke some of the cases," Kyle muses. "So there has to be a way. Or someone used, I dunno, explosives. Or something was REALLY strong."

"That's true. I mean, if there's something like Triceratons here then I'm sure they'd have no problem busting through one of them," Raphael considers. "-do we have explosives?" Those sound really handy.

After a quick search of the perimeter, Raphael takes note of the box. He looks for buttons to push or a switch, or failing that, how to open it up to have a look inside. "Donnie'd probably be able to figure this thing out if he were here," he mutters, grabbing at wires.

"What's a Triceraton?" Kyle asks as he approaches another of the cases. He's looking very carefully for anything that resembles a lock.

"Dude, I don't think the power is on, but be careful! You could get electrocuted!"

He shakes his head. "That's one of your brothers, right?"

"Eh, a giant alien dinosaur that hits like a bus," Raphael says offhandedly as he tries making any sense of the wiring. He looks back at Kyle then, wrinkling his nose, but he extracts his hand from the mess anyway, sighing. He hadn't even tried yanking at them yet. The guy would probably be screaming if he'd decided to take to it with his sai first, but he knew better than to do that.

"Yeah. He's the tech geek." Turning away from the box, he kicks at a broken piece of tile. "Any luck?"

"Right. Silly me."

Kyle absolutely would have started screaming if Raphael had tried such a thing. Screaming is sort of Kyle's natural state.

"Is he older? And yes, I think maybe so. Look, there's a slot here, looks like a card reader. Must need a keycard to work, which would be in an office of some kind."

[rage_on]

Raphael would be glad he hasn't been completely subjected to Kyle's natural state. There'd be a lot of slapping upside the head in that case.

"Younger...ish. I mean, we're all the same age and all but you know." He shrugs. "We all got interested in different things. He was always super into electronics and stuff."

Nearing where Kyle's been poking around, Raphael squints at the slot, giving a thoughtful nod. "Guess that'd make sense. So...what? We go office hunting now?"

Kyle is one hundred percent the type of guy to actually try to hit a ninja back.

"Oh, right. Turtles. So you were all hatched at the same time." He nods. "That's cool, though. I understand that."

Kyle nods again, looking around. "That door by that box you were looking at, it screams staff only to me. Maybe we can bust it down."

Oh, Kyle just said the magic words. Raphael's face practically lights up at the suggestion. He eagerly cracks his knuckles.

"My specialty!" he grins, turning to lead them back in that direction.

Kyle follows along, grinning. He doesn't want to break the exhibits, but watching someone bust a door down is pretty cool.

He gestures at the door in question.

"Go nuts, dude. I can't do it, I'm just human."

[rage_on]

"You don't know until you try!" Raphael smirks, then pauses as he studies the door and then Kyle. "-on second thought, you might break something."

He gives the thing a knock and a push just to test how solid it is, then moves back to give himself enough space for a running start. Then he charges the door, angling his shoulder towards it first.

Kyle tries not to get offended by the truth.

The museum might be futuristic by Kyle and Raphael's standards, but it seems that a door is still a door. It shudders on its hinges, and with another good hit will splinter off. Beyond it lies a very dark hallway.

Rolling his shoulders, Raphael stands back, looking proud of himself. He does look a little surprised when the doorway doesn't reveal an office at all, however.

"Huh. Well that looks fun. Who wants to go down the creepy hallway first?"

[kyley_b]

"I'll go." Because THAT'S wise, but he's feeling a little emasculated. He marches down the hall with his flashlight; it's empty, with a few other doors further down.

The first door is unlocked and turns out to be an ancient staff bathroom. The next is indeed an office, so Kyle sets about rummaging for keycards.

"So, like. You miss your brothers?"

Grinning, Raphael follows after him. With the door having been closed as it was, he doubts anyone might be hiding this way. Then again he didn't exactly try and open it the normal way. Eh, it's probably fine.

Once the office is located, Raphael pokes at a few boxes on the side as Kyle sets to work elsewhere.

"...yeah. Usually we're everywhere together. It's been super weird not having them around and being annoying."

"Yeah," Kyle says as he sets about jimmying open a desk drawer. "I get it. I've got a little brother, and when I first moved away it was super weird. I missed him like crazy even though he drove me batshit half the time at home. Teenagers, you know? But I sure wish he was here, now."

The drawer pops open and Kyle digs through it, grinning. He holds up several flat rectangles of a plastic-like material.

"These sure look like keys to me, dude."

Not finding much of interest himself, Raphael leans against the other side of the desk as he watches Kyle. "Heh, yeah. But then we're still teenagers- although I don't think Mikey ever grew out of his preteens so there's that."

He arches a brow and then grins back as Kyle holds up his prize. "Actually they look like plastic cards, but sure, we'll go with that." Space, man.
