Whoever said money can't buy happiness simply didn't know where to shop
Who: Jan Van Dyne, Tony, OTA
What: Shopping, and Petting Zoo
Where: Event Planet
When: Any time during Event
Warnings: TBD
I Need Your Eyes- OTA
Jan didn't have a shopping partner today, and as much as she could enjoy shopping as a solo venture, right this minute she really needed another pair of eyes. (And hands. All these bags were getting to be a bit much to carry.)
But ah- a fellow kidnapee! Jan waved them over instantly and once they were close enough she spun around so they could get a full picture of the swim suit she was trying on.
"What do you think? Is it hitting right? They have it black too, but I was thinking a pop of colour might go better with the sand back home."
Other Worldly Petting Zoo (for Tony)
Excluding (or sometimes including) Jenn and Patsy, Tony was one of Jan's favourite shopping partners. They got each other, and it was fun for both of them, not a chore to be dragged along to like it was with Scott. She could listen him drone on and on about ants, but he couldn't sit still for five minutes of her discussing why these new shoes were entirely different from the rest of her collection. (AND an investment piece!)
So she was all ready quite pumped up from their afternoon of site seeing and shopping when she spotted something unexpected. Was that...some kind of zoo?? Maybe it was more of a petting zoo than a real zoo, but either way, Jan barely had to say a word, grabbing Tony by the wrist and eagerly dragging them to pay the entry fee.
"Maybe they'll have an other world version of a pony ride," she teased excitedly, as though she wouldn't eagerly pay to have either one of them perched on top of some strange creature and get some tacky photo as a memento.

Petting Zoo
"If you wanted a ride, we could be buying you a car. Or a boyfriend," he suggested. "Is that what this is? You're looking for a gentle, single dad type now? I'll keep an eye out."

Jan paid for their tickets to make up for dragging Tony along. "Why, are there any prospects apart from Peter?"
no subject
"Oh, we're talking about longterm, okay, I thought we were just doing a vacation romance," he accepted as they made their way through the first gate. A local single dad would fill the same role as a hot engineer at an out-of-state conference, but Peter was still going to be around when they went back to the ship. Peter was also making Tony's mouth twist dubiously, because he was a little close to the manic scientist that the 'gentle single dad' type was supposed to be the opposite of. "It's a limited selection," Tony had to admit, "So, the standards are going to have to be lower than you deserve. Unless--you know, this Steve doesn't even know Hank, he wouldn't have the same hangups about dating you."
no subject
"...I know we're not- when you're from, but-...you'd want me to...explore my options, right?" She and Tony were generally fairly like minded. She assumed her Tony would understand the complications of unknown alien interference.

"Let's put it this way," he proposed as he bundled their shopping bags against the wall to offer his hands to the blast of antibacterial treatment mounted there. "How do you feel about him sitting around back home waiting for you?"
no subject
"...Guilty," she finally answered, "You're weirdly good at monogamy," she grumbled with a laugh, "I wouldn't worry about him for a second. Even if I told you to."

She has eyes and they are up here
When prompted she considers the swimsuit with a thoughtful tilt of her head.
"I'll have to consider the black for myself, but you are right. A bit of color popping would be better. Perhaps some accessories to go with it, provided it's resistant to tarnishing. Silver perhaps?"
Both are worth looking at
"You're right though, black is definitely your colour. Come try this one on with me, and I'll try the yellow one. Jan, by the way," she adds.
not wrong at all
That had gone poorly.
"I've had plenty of years to figure out my colors. Blues are good too, and a hint of red. But I doubt I'll get exactly what I want here."
But she offers the woman a bow of her head. Considers what name to offer. Back home it would be so easy, she'd just be Dr. Takemi with someone her age, but... Well, she's erring on the side of most humans she meets not being Japanese, and this woman didn't have the look. (And clearly spoke English sooooo.)
"Tae," she says at last. "Let me find one in my size first."
no subject
She starts leading her back to find one in her size. "If we don't find something you like, you can always describe what you're looking for and I can whip something up. Lots of fabrics to choose from here."
no subject
"I like strappy when it's a swimsuit. Not a bikini so much as a one piece with straps and lots of windows for skin," she says.
Does she like to give implications of being tied up? Yes. It was to her taste. Though, now she has other questions.
"You're a fashion designer? Can you really get swimsuit suitable fabric here?"
no subject
She nods, definitely seeing the picture, "There's a few candidates you should try, but I'd love to make you something custom."
There's a grin then and another nod, "Among other things. And we should be able to find something suitable. Depends too if you're looking for one that will get a lot of swimming action or one that's more for lounging and showing off in the sun?"

"Oh yes, it's perfect on you," he says. "But as for back home, do you mean Agra-10 home or home-home?"

"Do you think they've got it in yellow?"

Jan could kiss him. And she does, giving him a delighted kiss on the cheek and laughing. "I knew they couldn't make a Steve I wouldn't like. How are you set for beach wear? Do we need to find you something too?"
no subject
They really don't like him here.
no subject
Jan gives him a pointed once over and teases- "Tsk, you've really deprive us all? Come on, we're going to have plenty of down time between whatever this mess is, once we get back, and I'm going to need someone to lay on the beach with me."
no subject
Jan is just so easy to get along with, it's hard not to go along with what she says.
