[ action | closed to Lance ] Valentine's Date - Forward dated to the 14th
WHO: Keith & Lance
WHERE: Diner, hot spring cave
WHAT: Valentine's Date for the newly weds
WHEN: Valentine's Day, Feb 14th
WARNINGS: Just overwhelmingly sweet fluff... sorry. LMAO
[Sure... resources were kind of low, but they at least still had some nice clothes from various missions in the past to wear for the night. And the diner was a decent place for dinner, even if it put their mushy romantic moments in Tommy's sights and made them potentially ripe for teasing. But there was also the hot spring pools... and, despite the stupid blizzard before the date, they had a teleporting wolf that Keith probably would have brought along anyway for part of the date.
And gifts? Well, with Keith, it was more about the time spent together, so finding a present was hard. He wasn't good at physical gifts. But, he did manage to get a gift for his husband that he felt would work. He always spent a lot of time trying to figure out material gifts, but he'd managed to decide this one was a good one.
So, wrapped gift in hand, he went to go catch Lance once they were ready to go, but before they left.]
Hey. [He held it behind his back, like that was going to make it more surprising or something.]

Hey. [He held it behind his back, like that was going to make it more surprising or something.]

Aside from that once incident, their family managed fine enough during the snowstorm, although digging out enough snow from outside the front door to get it properly open was a chore. Especially on a day like this! A day they had plans on! A very special, romantic date, and their first as husbands!
Eventually they'd gotten everything done and gotten dressed nicely, and Lance stared at himself in the mirror as he combed out his hair. When he hears Keith, he smiles and turns around.]
Hey, gorgeous. Ready to go?
no subject
Yeah.
[He smiled a little, still holding the gift behind his back.]
Are you?

no subject
Come on. We've been stuck in this house for days because of the stupid storm. Even if we have to cook our own dinner, I'm taking you out for Valentine's. Now that powers are back to normal, Kosmo can take us over there.
Besides... [He held out the box.] You need to open this. It's more important than your hair.
no subject
Okaaaaaaaay. I'm not complaining about going out, aside from it being butt cold. Cabin fever's gonna drive me crazy.
[But then he looks at the box Keith hands out to him, and takes it.]
What's this...?
no subject
[Keith fidgeted in place.]
I mean... just because we're married doesn't mean we don't do that anymore, right?
Or... does it?
[Please don't confuse him.]
no subject
[He knows Keith isn't much of a gift kind of guy, so he hadn't been expecting something physical like this for the holiday. Lance looks down at the box, then back up at Keith, looking guilty.]
I didn't... I didn't get a chance to get you anything yet... Man, I am a jerk.
no subject
You're not a jerk.
[Keith huffed a small sigh.]
Look, I... I know you like gifts. So, I wanted to try to get something for you. But, you know me. It's not a big deal if you didn't get me something.
[He reached out and took Lance's free hand.]
Just coming with me to do this is enough. I wanted to do more, but that stupid storm messed up any chance to prepare, so... it's not gonna be as good as a date as it could have been, but... it's still us, being together, on our first Valentine's Day as husbands. And that means it's already perfect. Okay?
no subject
Thank you. And you're right. As long as I've got you, it's perfect.
[And with that, he moves to open the box, and pulls out the wooden board inside. Lance just...looks it over, left to right, back and forth and back and forth, with widened eyes. It's not at all what he'd expected, and yet, quite possibly the best gift he's ever gotten.
He's not gonna cry, he's not gonna cry.
(He's totally gonna cry.)]
Keith, I... I'm gonna put this down right here so I don't stab you with it.
[He very carefully places the board on a nearby table before throwing his arms around Keith, kissing him hard.]
no subject
Stab... him...? Oh. That was definitely a hug and a kiss. Keith wrapped his arms around Lance in return as they kissed, smiling into it.]
I guess you like it?
no subject
[He'll just give him another hard kiss. Or two. Or three.]
I... That's the sweetest thing anyone's ever gotten for me. I'm hanging that up right in the living room where I can see it all the time. And I'm gonna sit there and just, like, stare at it any moment I'm not staring at you.
[Lance is only partially exaggerating.]
You might have won this battle, but the war's still on, hubby.
no subject
Hey... it says it right there. I won.
[Keith smirked.]
no subject
[He reaches up to wipe a few tears away from his eyes before smiling more at him.]
Thank you... Thank you so much.
no subject
Well, then... Guess I can't let me guard down.
[He leaned in to steal a small kiss before pressing his forehead against Lance's.]
I love you. [He rubbed lightly at Lance's cheek with his thumb, wiping away the last tear.]
no subject
[He smiles, pressing their foreheads together.]
Always and forever, got it, husband?
no subject
Of course. That's why I married you.
[Another kiss, and then he pulled away a bit.]
Okay... grab a coat. The closer it gets to night, the colder it's gonna get, and I want to make sure my husband doesn't turn into popsicle on our first married Valentine's day.
no subject
[Appreciate him! Because it's all he can do not to! Lance just grins at him before going to grab his coat, shrugging it on.]
no subject
[Keith just smirked in response as he went to get his own coat, and then grabbed the blanket he'd converted into a rough dog coat for Kosmo by cutting it down to size and then using some strips from the discarded pieces as ties to make it stay on. Kosmo didn't mind that. But he refused to wear booties. He kept teleporting out of them. So, bare-pawed he was for the trip.
Normally, Keith wouldn't have brought him along for something like this, but it was going to help them get around while everything was still so heavily covered in snow.
He then grabbed a small bag that he had with some other stuff in it... stuff he wasn't letting Lance see just yet.]
no subject
Note to self, knit Kosmo a sweater.
Like ten of them.]
Okay! Ready to go!
no subject
There was a glow and then a flash... and they were at the diner.
It looked like several people had taken shelter from the storm there, which was fine. There was enough room that they could find a small spot for themselves. Some had even already started digging their way out, but it looked like most people were taking a break for the moment.]
I'll go see if the kitchen's working.
[He stole another kiss from Lance, and then untied the bag from Kosmo, leaving the wolf with Lance.]
no subject
[He smiles, settling in and petting Kosmo, staying close to him for the warmth. Though the situation was far from ideal considering the intense blizzard that had only just stopped, it was alright. Nothing could ruin today.]
no subject
[And Keith pushed through the doors into the kitchen, disappearing for a bit.
Thankfully, all the electronics and things were back in operation after the storm had passed. So, anything in the kitchen that had been malfunctioning was pretty much back online. Keith settled in and started working on what he wanted to do.
Oh... Lance wanted warmth? Kosmo could do that. He pressed himself against Lance's legs, resting his head in the human's lap. That made it easier for pets, too, right?]
no subject
You're such a good boy, you know that? So good to us, getting us around on Valentine's Day...
[And he'll just be eagerly giving Kosmo all the pets and ear scritches he deserves. Which are a ton.]
no subject
Thankfully, it wasn't super long. Keith had picked something fairly easy on purpose, between being able to get the available supplies, and then the weather messing up having it done for them. But, this worked, and it was nice that he was getting to cook something for his husband.
He was no "amateur gourmand" like Hunk claimed to be, but he could make a decent meal.
So, once he was done, he brought it out to serve. He didn't have anything fancy for them to drink, but they had to make do, and it was still a good meal overall.]
Okay... here we go.
no subject
Oh, wow... That looks super yummy, Keith!
