Isn't it amazing what people can achieve when several come together and pool their ideas and resources for a shared goal?

It certainly is in Jon's eyes, whose innate lack of creativity originally has gone as far as bringing some blankets to the beach and hoping for a good mood. What has ended up being set up on the bluish, almost purple sand of the beach is far beyond anything he would have imagined and he won't deny being glad he has reached out over the network with his little suggestion.

Of Barbecues, Grills and other Beverages

Do you remember Cobb asking for a grill to be made for him? Right. That grill can be found at the party. Kyle has offered to prepare burgers to be grilled along with whatever meat selection the diner has to offer and Clarice is the person to thank for the home made ice pops, created from native fruits such as glueberries and mangourd. Of course these are kept fresh under a parasol and in an insulated box mostly buried into the sun. That's how the majority of the drinks offered at this party are being kept cool as well.

If you want to catch one of those fat green lobsters roaming the beach as well and toss it onto the grill, you sure can try.

INTO THE OCEAN!!

You better bring your swimwear, because jumping into the water is an option. No actually dangerous creatures are this close to the shore, making swimming or potential swimming lessons very much possible.

Tony also ensured there is a little kiddie pool for the babies. And Cobb.

Someone brought an inflatable Eyeball?

Before anyone asks, it wasn't Jon. But it's there. An inflatable eye beach ball.

Lounging in the Shade & Music

Parasols, blankets and a guitar borrowed from Cayde's bar. Sit down, relax, chat. And if you know how to play this instrument, you're very welcome to do so.

Let there be BIRBS

Have you wondered yet why those birds are in the banner for this party? It's because they are here.

At first they linger in the trees near the beach, watching and squawking and being colorful parrots. As a little time passes, they leave the safety of their trees and start coming over, sitting on parasols, hopping curiously between this oddly large amount of people gathering at their beach and in all likelihood attempting to steal a snack or two.

But if you pay close attention, you can also observe them swooping down at the nearby lobsters, easily picking them up and carry them back into the nearby forest. Apparently these birds aren't just colorful and curious they also hunt lobsters. Who could have known...

Don't forget the Caves

Actually not far from our little party waits the entrance to the caves. Take a wrong turn in them and you will find yourself in a large chamber filled with those energy crystals that make all your technology glow and go insane or result in your powers to fluctuate greatly. Take the right turn, and you find yourself at those mysterious hot springs only few know about.

To be fair, the actual party is at the beach, but who knows when the need for some privacy arises.

When it gets Dark we gather around the Rainbow Colored Fire Pit

While set up at the edge of the gathering, the fire pit Tony and Cayde have set up to have a bonfire in easily is one of the center pieces of the party. Benches and seats either brought over from Temba or crafted from different material are set up around it and once the sun begins to set and the bonfire gets lit along with the many torches set up around the party, the invitation to remain a little longer couldn't be clearer.

There's more to it than just a cozy fire, a pleasant atmosphere and the company of friends. Next to the fire pit sits a small box. In that box, wrapped in plain tissue paper, are what at first glance are little more than lumps of wax. But mixed into this wax are different chemicals and tossing these into the pit will result in the fire burning with different colors or even sparkle. Way to set the mood and linger as the party winds down.

Due to health concerns Jon does not recommend cooking any food over the chemically altered flames, thank you.

Yeah, he's a giant nerd alright. Enough of one that Tommy, who had left Kyle's side for a bit for more time in the water, came back just in time to want to laugh at Kyle's comment and call him such.

"You know, we do already use them. Or maybe it's 'did'. I don't know what the order is now. Mostly I focus on the greenhouse, you know? I used to gather them some, because it's easy protein no one's gonna bitch over."

But fuck they sucked to acquire, even for him.

"We do? Awww, man. Here I thought I was an innovator."

He sighs and flops back. "I was thinking if maybe there was a young one,you could train it to bring the lobster things back... I guess it must not work very well."

He looks at the birds again, clearly still not completely giving up on the idea. He sughs again and looks back at Tommy.

"You look nice."

"I mean, it is innovative," Tommy countered with a shrug. "Most people can't go after them without risk. So the birds would be a good choice. Do you know about how to manage birds?"

Tommy moves to sit next to Kyle. They aren't quite touching. There's space between them. Too much and not enough all at once.

"Thanks. You look like you're hiding from the sun."

Kyle shakes his head. "Not much. Like, a little bit about rehabilitation? My buddy Stan works in wildlife conservation."

He tips his head back and smiles. "I am, for the moment. I'll get back in the water in a few minutes." Look how good he's being, not ogling Tommy in his swimsuit.

Yeah, it probably is better that he didn't ogle because then Tommy would be the one turning red. And then there would be the denial shit.

"Stan, the one with the forever girlfriend or whatever?"

Knowledge not shared this life but still in his head.

[kyley_b]

"Yeah!" He beams. "Her name is Wendy."

He draws his knobby knees up to his chest. "I betcha I could catch one. A bird, not a forever girlfriend." He grins. "Obviously."

"I'm sure you could catch a forever girlfriend if you tried and there were women around who were your age," Tommy suggested as he laid down to look up amid the birds.

"How would you do it?@

"There was one," he concedes, "but I meant...ah, nevermind."

Kyle watches the birds, thinking.

"A basket trap. Just wait for it to take bait and then bam! I think that's the best way to do it without injury."

"There was? Maybe you should tell me about them. Put us on more even ground and all that.

A basket trap, huh? Tommy considers it, then nods.

"Have to be a sturdy basket, so they can't just flap it off. And at the same time, not too heavy so if it falls on them wrong it doesn't hurt them badly."

[kyley_b]

Kyle shrugs. "You already know. I think Sansa was literally the only girl our age around here, and now..." A shrug. "We didn't sleep together, for the record. Might have eventually, if things had been different, but I dunno."

He nods, grinning. "Yeah! Legit, something like a laundry basket is what I was picturing. I bet I could figure out how to like... weave a wicker type thing. Then I just have to chill out, wait, catch a bird, and train it! Bam, lobster for everyone!"

Kyle and Sansa. Yeah, that might have worked. Gingers together.

"I'm sorry she's gone," Tommy answered, his voice soft. "She's a good person, and you two would have worked I think."

He doesn't say 'she'd be better for you' because he's not allowed to insult himself or some shit. So he instead turns his attention to Kyle's plan here.

"Okay, but how do you get the bird to go under the basket?

[kyley_b]

"Yeah. I mean, I dunno about THAT, I was sort of on my best behaviour the whole time. I didn't want her to see what an asshole I am sometimes." He cackles. "You already know!"

He snaps his fingers. "Bait! Birds gotta eat."

[doubled_speed]

Tommy shakes his head.

"She didn't deserve an asshole. But that you were trying is good too."

He misses her. Again. But he'll do his best to not feel bad about all of this.

"They can get their own food."

[kyley_b]

"Yeah, but easy food is good food. Look, I'll try it, and if it doesn't work you can make fun of me."

He tips his head back and smiles at Tommy. "But it'll totally work."

[doubled_speed]

"I'm not going to make fun of you for that, Spitfire," Tommy answered quite readily.

Still, he's smiling because Kyle is confident, and he believes in the guy.

"And you'll catch us lobsters. Wait, can you eat lobsters?"

[kyley_b]

"You might," Kyle replied, a little touched in spite of himself.

He laughed and nodded. "Yeah, I only keep kosher for important dates. I kinda love bacon. And pepperoni pizza. And cheeseburgers." He shrugged. "And, you know. This is a planet with limited resources! God can forgive me for eating alien lobster, I'm sure. Especially if, as you say, your brother is god. I'm pretty sure he'd eat space lobster, too."

Logic!

Kyle looked at Tommy, smiling stupidly. "This is nice."

Important dates. Tommy barely even knows what the important dates are. Not for real.

"My brother is god in our world. And I don't even know how that works. It's a thing. But I suppose he might eat space lobster. And I'm glad I dont' have to give up the cheeseburgers I'm not getting."

[kyley_b]

"Shh, let me pretend I'm clever," Kyle says, giggling. He gestures to the grill.

"Not quite the same, but we're doing good! It's almost like a real barbecue." He looks back at Tommy. "Are you having fun? For seriously."

[doubled_speed]

"You are clever," Tommy answered, letting his gaze go toward the grill. That said, he had liked the barbecue, it was a flavor he had missed.

But then he turned back to Kyle and grinned. "Did you see me earlier, when I was running? The plumes of water I kick up are hella impressive."

[kyley_b]

"How could I miss it?" It's obvious by the light in his eyes that he thinks the display was awesome.

"You're pretty fucking impressive. I guess."

[doubled_speed]

That look makes Tommy quite happy as well. He looked excited by the approval.

"Say it. It was cool."

[kyley_b]

He leans in a little closer.

"It was cool," he says through a smirk.

[doubled_speed]

Tommy just beamed at him, like Tommy on their dates, or Crimson Speed when doing something he thought was a real rush.

"Smart guy, appreciating that shit. You been in the water yet?"

[kyley_b]

"A little. You wanna go back in?" Godammit, Tommy had a cute smile.

[doubled_speed]

"I mean, I don't much like swimming unless I've got someone to do it with. It's boring."

So he's not going back in.
