Jedi Temple 2.0

Padme has done her best to create a nice space for herself and the twins. Obi-Wan had found a good solid building for them to live and she'd spent her free time cleaning it up and making it a home.

Finally, she feels ready for guests. So she's let everyone she's made friends with this far know where she's living and invited them to visit. Advance warning or no, she's prepared to entertain.

Taking a walk

She can't stay inside all day every day. So, once a day when the children are napping, she leaves them under the watchful eye of the nanny bot (or a friend) and takes a walk. Later in the month she might even be spotted jogging (she has to get back in shape, after all).

If she sees someone, she slows down and greets them with a friendly smile. "Hello!"

All work and no play.

Never one to sit idle for very long, Padme takes time a few days a week to explore areas of the city. She's particularly interested in areas that need work. She can be found nearly anywhere, often with the twins in their pram, taking notes. She's going to learn about this new planet and how to help them, no matter what. If she didn't have the twins, she'd be more likely to try to investigate some of the closed off areas... But that will have to come later.

Walkin'.

Kyle's on his way from the Agriculture Building to 'the Hotel' - not a far walk at all - when he hears the hello. He turns and recognises the admittedly lovely ambassador from the town meeting. He lifts a hand in return, smiling tentatively back. "Uh, hey," he replies. "Miss, uhm, Amidala?"

If he looks nervous, it's because he is. Ever since the town meeting he's been a little wary of opening his big mouth and alienating people further.

Padme smiles brightly, showing no hint that she thinks anything negative about him. "Please, Kyle, call me Padme. I don't think there's any need for formalities, do you?"

"No, I guess not." And it's not like Padme looks fifty, so it's not like addressing an elder. Her smile seems incredibly genuine so he relaxes further.

"You've got kids, right? Left em at home to get a little you-time?"

In actuality, she's only a couple of years older than he is. She just acts like she's 50 sometimes.

She nods. "Yes. I try to take a little time to myself while they're sleeping." It was kind of him to remember. She tilts her head, "I'm glad our paths have crossed. I wanted to thank you for speaking up at the meeting."

"Yeah, it's about the only time you can," he says, smiling a little. His smile fades and his eyebrows do up at the next thing she says, however.

"You wanna thank me?" he asks, frankly disbelieving. "Oh. Uhm. Kinda... assumed you might feel the opposite. I got the impression it didn't go over so well with some people." He stuffs his hands in his pockets and rocks back slightly on his heels. "I saw Ezra and Mr. Kenobi talking, and Mando was pretty clear about what he thought. Which, you know. Sucks." He shrugs, trying to appear aloof and like he's totally not bothered. The reality of course is that he's hurt.

"It's... whatever. Live and learn."

She nods, "Yes, of course. You brought up good points and it took courage to do so. I've been in politics since I was young, and pointing out flaws and concerns can be a difficult thing do, especially to a crowd."

He might be trying to hide his feelings, but she's been reading people for a very long time. She gestures for him to walk with her. "This world has the potential to be restored to its former glory. We all have to work together to make that happen. You're right that we can't do that if any group of us band together just because of some commonality. That's how conflicts arise. I think we can all rise above that, don't you?"

Walking

Sometimes a person just needs a break from break-neck speeds inside the greenhouse and diner all day. Which was what Tommy was doing, just laying on the rim of the arrival fountain, eyes closed, listening to the water and longing for a hot spring not hidden deep in the caves with the glowy energy crystals.

When he heard a voice he lifted his head, looking around. Seeing Padme he raised a hand and offered a half-hearted wave.

"Yo."

Padme recognized the young man from the meeting. He didn't seem as invested in the proceedings as the others there, but that didn't make any difference to her. Not everyone was interested in politics, just as not everyone was interested in ice sculptures. Everyone had their passions.

She smiled, stepping a little closer. "That looks like a wonderful place to rest."

Oh, he was invested. Deeply invested. But hey, he'd spoken up and he wasn't expecting to be listened to. So, you know, normal political sit. He tilted his head to look at her, eyes tracking her movements.

"It's nice enough. Close as I get to a nice soothing bath. Could get showers on the ship, but sometimes you just want a bath, right?"

She nods, understanding. "I know what you mean. My home planet has so much water. I used to spend summers in the Lake Country. There were some springs on Coruscant I enjoyed visiting, and I'd take baths of course. But there's certainly something soothing about water."

Well he didn't expect her to wax poetic about it. Wow, that was more than he'd expected.

"Sorry, for me it's meant more like I don't like the showers on the ships. I don't like swimming either. I'm a hot soak kind of guy. This is the best I can get to any sort of soaking."

Like Padme, Merrin also spends a lot of time exploring Temba, but it's mostly to familiarize herself with the lay of the area. Back home, she knew practically every nook and cranny of Dathomir, and so she definitely feels the lack of familiarity here, on what's supposed to be her... new home? For the time being, hopefully.

That's how she runs into Padme and the twins somewhere in the northwest section of the city. Not that Merrin realizes there are babies in the pram—or even what the pram is. Or why someone is even out here in the first place, let alone standing around taking notes. That's probably why she stops and stares for a moment, her brow furrowed.

Unfortunately, she is woefully inept at approaching strangers—in a non-threatening manner, at least—and so she hovers a little awkwardly before saying, "You are far from the town center." Which is... the obvious.

Padme looks up at the voice, setting down her tablet with a smile. The question doesn't surprise her. She's met species who are quite literal and blunt, so this doesn't seem out of place at all.

"Yes, I am. I'm trying to learn more about this place and what it needs."

Ah, a friendly smile, even in spite of the fact that Merrin essentially interrupted her. Even though Merrin has met many other friendly people here, it still catches her a little off guard, which shows in the way she blinks and frowns slightly.

"What it needs?" she echoes. "You also seek to rebuild this place?" Cobb has said something similar, about fixing things up.

She's friendly to everyone! Unless, of course, that person is trying to kill her or something.

She nods, "Yes, of course. That's why we're here. We're meant to help rebuild this planet so the natives can return."

All Work and No Play

Ikora emerged from one of the closed off areas, lightly dusting some red powder from her purple robes. Her ghost circled around her, clearly scolding.

"I thought you said we were going to be more careful. I don't know if I have the Light to bring you back."

"That was careful."

"You almost fell down a mineshaft!" The little black and red ghost bobbed in front of Ikora to make her stop ignoring him. "Ikora..."

"It's alright. You warned me in time. Relax." She gently nudged him aside and spotted the young woman and her children. Cayde hadn't told her there were children around. That surprised her a bit.

"Hello," she said with a slight incline of her head. "I wouldn't recommend going the way we came from."

Padme smiled at the woman and the being bobbing around her. She'd heard parts of their conversation and couldn't help but be reminded of C-3P0's nagging.

"So I gather. Don't worry, I'm keeping my exploring in far less precarious areas. Might I ask what you found?"

[cannot_flinch]

"Nothing more interesting than a mineshaft vent that needs to be secured again," Ikora said with a little shrug of her shoulder. For all of Ophiuchus' worrying she really hadn't been in too much danger. She could have Blinked out.

Ophiuchus, meanwhile, floated closer to Padme, his shell spinning slowly around his eye as he looked down at the children. "Oh! Those are very young. Are they... safe here?"

They don't spend much time around children. If it isn't obvious.

Padme nodded, "That's good to know. We certainly wouldn't want to risk someone falling in."

Her attention turned to Ophiuchus. She smiled, "Yes they are. They were born shortly before we left Coruscant. Don't worry, I'm keeping them quite safe. I have no intention of taking them anywhere dangerous."

[cannot_flinch]

"Oh! I didn't mean to make it sound like I was accusing you!" The ghost bobbed back a little bit. "Where we're from little humans don't leave the city walls because it's not safe."

"He's not used to seeing them," Ikora added to be helpful. Ophiuchus' people skills sometimes left things to be desired. He was mostly used to dealing with Ikora.

"He tends to worry about those without the Light to look after them."

Kaz had been going about the task of learning literally everything about Temba when he noticed Padme. He had been in the process of exploring the northwest side and taking detailed mental notes of the tower that once had a blue light at the top. At the moment he was picking his way back onto the border road.

"That cart won't be good for much other than getting the wheels caught beyond the cleared roads. That's really not a good place for kids anyway."

Padme smiles, "Thank you for your concern. This is from Coruscant so it can hover. I just try to preserve its battery life whenever possible."

The other comment gets a nod. "Perhaps. Though it doesn't seem to be much of a place for many people right now. Don't worry, I don't intend to bring them anywhere dangerous. I'm just trying to get a feel for the planet and how I can help."

One of the twins was fussing and working himself up to a good cry. Kaz glanced at Luke.

"Think he's disagreeing."

Whether it was with going anywhere dangerous, getting the wheels caught or helping, Kaz didn't say.

Padme leans over the pram, gently picking up Luke. "Awww, you're okay. Come here."

Smiling at Kaz, "If he's anything like his father, he'll be exploring as soon as he can walk."

The crying is getting more insistent despite Padme's shushing.

"You should invest in one of those toddler leashes then."

Leia was starting to fuss some too. Ah, the joys of twin syncopation. Kaz didn't have the patience that Padme did, though.

"Has he been doing that all day?"
