A new life on a new planet

WHO: Padme and YOU
WHERE: The new temple and elsewhere
WHAT: (belated) April catch-all
WHEN: April
WARNINGS: none yet.

Jedi Temple 2.0

Padme has done her best to create a nice space for herself and the twins. Obi-Wan had found a good solid building for them to live and she'd spent her free time cleaning it up and making it a home.

Finally, she feels ready for guests. So she's let everyone she's made friends with this far know where she's living and invited them to visit. Advance warning or no, she's prepared to entertain.

Taking a walk

She can't stay inside all day every day. So, once a day when the children are napping, she leaves them under the watchful eye of the nanny bot (or a friend) and takes a walk. Later in the month she might even be spotted jogging (she has to get back in shape, after all).

If she sees someone, she slows down and greets them with a friendly smile. "Hello!"

All work and no play.

Never one to sit idle for very long, Padme takes time a few days a week to explore areas of the city. She's particularly interested in areas that need work. She can be found nearly anywhere, often with the twins in their pram, taking notes. She's going to learn about this new planet and how to help them, no matter what. If she didn't have the twins, she'd be more likely to try to investigate some of the closed off areas... But that will have to come later.

"Nothing more interesting than a mineshaft vent that needs to be secured again," Ikora said with a little shrug of her shoulder. For all of Ophiuchus' worrying she really hadn't been in too much danger. She could have Blinked out.

Ophiuchus, meanwhile, floated closer to Padme, his shell spinning slowly around his eye as he looked down at the children. "Oh! Those are very young. Are they... safe here?"

They don't spend much time around children. If it isn't obvious.

"Oh! I didn't mean to make it sound like I was accusing you!" The ghost bobbed back a little bit. "Where we're from little humans don't leave the city walls because it's not safe."

"He's not used to seeing them," Ikora added to be helpful. Ophiuchus' people skills sometimes left things to be desired. He was mostly used to dealing with Ikora.

"He tends to worry about those without the Light to look after them."

"We could report back?" Ophiuchus offered because really, children should stay behind the City walls and not explore like Guardians. Ikora was amused by her Ghost's protective nature but they were assigned to protect humanity. He was simply following his directive.

She gave her Ghost a look and he floated back to her, making a sound like clearing his throat even though he didn't have one.

"The Light is a power in my universe. It allows me to heal injuries and even come back from the dead." Ikora could go into paracasual abilities and changing timelines but she knew Warlock lectures could be boring to most people.

"For the Light, it is." Ikora nods as she quickly thinks of a way to explain the Traveler, the Light, and everything that happened in her universe without boring someone to tears. "I don't know if you have powers or magic in your world but you can think of it like that. A power that can change reality. Change destiny. Including death."

It was hard to demonstrate that so Ikora didn't offer.

"Now, we are very distant from the Light here. I'm not sure if I could come back with that much distance."

"Let's hope." Ikora would still risk her life if the situation called for it. She wasn't afraid of her true death anymore. She would test the theory for the right reason.

She leans in a little to study the sleeping children. They're cute enough though Ikora's never felt terribly material. She still likes children.

"You seem surprised," she says, studying Padme. "That something like that is possible."

"We didn't find the power. It found us." Before then, her world did have to fear death and destiny. Now, things were more flexible for some but not all.

"And you have to be chosen by the power. And be dead first." That part was always the catch. "Their father wouldn't remember them. Or you. He would be a different person."

And that was a tragedy for a family like this.
