A new life on a new planet
WHO: Padme and YOU
WHERE: The new temple and elsewhere
WHAT: (belated) April catch-all

Jedi Temple 2.0
Padme has done her best to create a nice space for herself and the twins. Obi-Wan had found a good solid building for them to live and she'd spent her free time cleaning it up and making it a home.
Finally, she feels ready for guests. So she's let everyone she's made friends with this far know where she's living and invited them to visit. Advance warning or no, she's prepared to entertain.
Taking a walk
She can't stay inside all day every day. So, once a day when the children are napping, she leaves them under the watchful eye of the nanny bot (or a friend) and takes a walk. Later in the month she might even be spotted jogging (she has to get back in shape, after all).
If she sees someone, she slows down and greets them with a friendly smile. "Hello!"
All work and no play.
Never one to sit idle for very long, Padme takes time a few days a week to explore areas of the city. She's particularly interested in areas that need work. She can be found nearly anywhere, often with the twins in their pram, taking notes. She's going to learn about this new planet and how to help them, no matter what. If she didn't have the twins, she'd be more likely to try to investigate some of the closed off areas... But that will have to come later.

She pauses for a moment to organize her thoughts. This is too important not to get right, after all. "The Jedi do bring children to the Temple to be trained. However, they do not just take the children who are to become Jedi. They speak to the parents and the child and get their convent. They are also allowed to leave at any time. They aren't prisoners." She pauses, giving him a smile. "I'm not a Jedi, but I am very close to some of them. It does seem strange to those who aren't involved, I admit, but they are good people."

He looks glumly up at the sky. "And none of that had to do with what I said at the meeting. I mean... like I just said, I get it when people think your religion is weird or that you kill babies or whatever. I was honestly just trying to be fair."

She hesitates for a moment. "I... Well, it's not really my place to say, but I think there's something you should know that might make things a little clearer." looking away, she pauses for another moment. "Things did get very emotional at the meeting. There is a reason for that... In my time there's a war going on between the Republic and the Separatists. Shortly before I arrived here, the Republic was reformed into an Empire." She turns back to him. "Democracy died before my eyes. The Jedi were accused of terrible things, none of them true. The truth was being manipulated by one man who deceived all of us. There was an attack orchestrated on the Jedi. They were all but destroyed. I saw the temple burning, myself. Those here may be from different times and different planets... But for them, they're the only Jedi left. All of the others..." Her voice cracks and she turns away again. "All of the others... Including the father of my children, are gone." She takes a breath to compose herself. "Please believe me when I say that the Jedi here aren't trying to come together for any purpose other than to be together."

"I understand," he says softly. "And I never said it was bad for them to come together. That's not what I was getting at at all."
He finds another rock to kick. "They SHOULD come together. I saw them at the Temple, that was their spiritual home. Look, where I come from, a bunch of people like me got blamed for a bunch of shit and murdered when a dictatorship arose, too. Like what happened to them, but with countries and not galaxies. So I'm not lying, I really DO understand. I feel pretty shitty that they think I don't get it, or that I hate their religion, or whatever. I'm sorry I upset them."
Kyle looks at Padme evenly. "Thanks for explaining why they were defensive dickheads about it. And I'm really, really sorry about you losing your partner."

"Thank you. I learned about it when I arrived here. From what I can tell, of those of us from my galaxy, I'm from the earliest point in time." She smiles, though her eyes are still sad. "I'm glad that I could help you understand. I truly believe we can all work together to help this planet."

Padme has already managed to get Kyle to like her, because he's always been a sucker for people who come off as intelligent and kind. "I do, too," he assures her. "And I'll apologise to the guys, I think. Sometimes I'm pretty abrasive, I guess."

She likes Kyle, too. Of course, she likes most people. He's passionate and genuine and she can appreciate that. He's also willing to apologize, which speaks of his character. She nods, "I think they would appreciate that. And trust me, I've seen far worse in the Senate."

He smiles. He's seen a lot of weird, but he's still a few weeks shy of being twenty-four. He has a lot more to learn than he thinks. "I bet. Well. Thanks again. Don't let me keep you from your walk."
