Party at the Blue Bantha!

WHERE: The Blue Bantha in Coruscant's entertainment district
WHAT: A party!
WHEN: The last day before they leave.
WARNINGS: Fun times? Probably drunkenness.

After having found this place on an outing with Echo, Obi-Wan had decided he rather liked this one particular establishment they stopped at. So for their last evening on Coruscant, the Jedi had the place rented out. A network post also going up inviting everyone for one last hurrah before they have to go back to Temba.

Welcome to the Blue Bantha Bar and Grill!

Everything is very blue. A bright blue neon sign advertises the joint in the entertainment district. Its letters in Aurebesh with a little bantha head shaped neon light next to it as well. The lighting inside is distinctly blue as well. There is a mounted bantha head placed on the far wall above the bar, its fur having been dyed blue. Clearly it is the mascot of this place.

There are tables and booths in varying locations for people to sit. With the tables having bantha hide rugs under them that look reminiscent of shag carpet, while the booth seats have bantha hide upholstery as well. There's a band playing in one corner with space for people to dance. While on another side there are screens broadcasting sporting events from across the galaxy. Feel free to place bets on who you think will win!

Even the staff are either blue, or are wearing blue. It won't be uncommon to have a blue scantily clad Twi'lek waitress serving you. The long bar also has blue neon lighting with several stools to sit at, in which you can order whatever drink your heart desires on their menu.

Speaking of the menu, everything is made with bantha products. That is what they specialize in. Several types of Jawa Juice, a kind of beer made from fermented grains mashed in bantha hides, can be found here. As well as Bantha Blood Fizz, a sparkling drink made from purified bantha blood in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties. And of course they serve several drinks featuring blue milk, from just the plain stuff to several alcoholic concoctions. There is also food of course! Bantha steak, bantha burgers, bantha stew, and other meat dishes are served as it's pretty much this galaxy's equivalent of beef. You can even get desserts made from blue milk such as cheesecake and ice cream.

"Hey, a bar that won't kick me out for ordering a drink and food? Not passing that up," Cayde laughed. Settling in, he swept up his cards and started to adjust the order in his hand as he started to work out the amounts.

"Overall? Been pretty good. Keepin' busy." These opportunities didn't come often, after all, and with the reminder that they could be sent home any time now, the Exo wasn't going to waste it.

"My guess is the amount of credits everyone's spendin' won't get us kicked out short of shooting someone." Cobb understood money talked and they were spending a lot of it in this place. He didn't think the owner gave a damn if Cayde drank their whole stock as long as he kept paying.

Cobb started with a risky hand. Twenty-two. It would be real easy to bomb with a starting hand that high. He needed to unload some cards.

But he bet high because of it. What's the fun of gambling without a little risk? "Thought I overheard that you got arrested?" Cobb's been listening to the gossip around the hangars at night. Like a good Marshal does.

Cayde absently wondered what kind of dent they were making in the local economy and then figured in a place this big it probably didn't change things too much. He turned his focus back to tallying up the cards in his hand, in reality on the opposite end of the spectrum in comparison to Cobb's, but he tilted his head thoughtfully before flicking another couple loose credits onto the small pile he'd initially offered.

He did however roll his eyes when Cobb mentioned his getting arrested. "What, does everyone know that? It was-" He paused, did anyone really have to know how many times he'd actually been thrown in jail here? "-well it wasn't like I actually did anything to deserve being arrested," he finished with instead, sniffing.

"Eh, I hear things here and there." Cobb smirked. He had done his best to keep his ear to the ground and know what the folks in this motley crew were doing. "And I was real curious how you were gettin' along."

He liked Cayde. He kept an eye on people he liked. If the Exo had found any real trouble Cobb would've come to help him. He seemed to handle it well any trouble he did find.

"I'm sure you're perfectly innocent. They get you for being a droid?" Cobb exchanged a few cards before dealing the next hand.

The Exo grumbled, but it was only halfheartedly as he waited for Cobb to set those cards down.

"Well, I didn't need anyone to hold my hand everywhere I went so that's a plus." He considered his options with his cards, and at being called 'perfectly innocent' he couldn't help but break his poker face to give as convincing a bat of his optics as he could.

"I just wanted one drink- and then this guy next to me starts laughing so I decided to drink his to prove a point. Suddenly he didn't find it so funny."

Cobb laughed, "Wish I could've seen that man's face."

He did find it rather amusing when Cayde did things droids couldn't do. More amusing was people getting freaked out by it. Cobb only had a slight vindictive streak. Though, he would be one of those people if he hadn't met Cayde before coming here.

"Well, sounds like you made the most of your time here. Ready to go back?" Because Cobb was. Core worlds just weren't for him.

"To be fair it was kinda hard to see his face in general. He had these tentacle things all around here," Cayde demonstrated, bringing up a hand to wiggle fingers by his mouth.

"Hey, we're here for only so long, gotta do what you can do. Hope the kid doesn't get into my stash on the ship." He'd amassed a good crate of drinks to be taken back home and those couldn't fit under a mattress like the weapons he tended to hide under there.

The Exo did look to be giving it some thought on whether he was ready to go back or not. He liked the life here, the busyness of it all. But at the same time, despite there being maybe endless possibilities of things to do, it was still limited. The city was a wilderness in itself, but this was all claimed territory. The unknown had more to offer, even when most of what looked to be ahead of them was nothing but broken down buildings.

"Yeah. Think I am," he finally said.

Cobb had seen some of those aliens around the city but he had no idea what they were called. They looked like the sort to come from an aquatic planet. He had never gone anywhere near one of those planets.

"Just put 'em up high. Kid can't reach." Cobb liked Grogu but... well... he was short. Anything up high had to be safer than leaving it in one of those lockers on the ship.

The buildings wouldn't be broken down for long if Cobb had his way when they got back. He didn't think anyone would stop him. Some might even help.

"I am. Pretty tired of this place. Feel like I'll be more useful back there." In this place Cobb didn't have a purpose. He had all the freedom to explore but found himself really struggling towards the end of the trip.

"You haven't seen him grab fish and cookies, have you?" Cayde smirked. Height wasn't going to stop that kid.

He chuckled as Cobb admitted he was more than done with the place, not that it surprised the Exo. "Less distraction and plenty to do," he said, nodding. Here it was nothing but distraction, and while there were things to do, a lot of it didn't necessarily need doing.

"I've seen him reach for things." Cobb knew Grogu was a Jedi but he was so small and young. He didn't think the kid could do that much Jedi stuff yet. Maybe he could now after spending the trip at the temple but he still thought a high shelf and a good lock would keep the kid out.

"It's a great place for supplies. Could get everything I wanted except a decent caf set." All the ones here were fancy and electronic. None of them were like caf sets back home that only needed hot sand to brew a strong cup. "But I will say this place gave me the motivation to start rebuilding when we get back. Damn tired of living on ships."

Cayde wasn't about to give the kid an excuse to do some practice with those magic hands of his unless they were unbreakable things. That was what those snack packs were for.

"Caf? What's that?" he asked. He was sure he heard the term thrown around at some point, making him drum his fingers on the table as he tried to remember. "Oh! Like coffee? I got a percolator thing at the bar. Them old fashioned kinds that you just put the grounds in and add water and watch it drip when you've got nothing else to do."

He laughed a little as he discarded a few of his cards. "No one said you had to stay on a ship," he pointed out.

"Yeah, that's another name for it." Cobb heard rich assholes call it coffee but he wasn't going to say it. Maybe Cayde heard a rich asshole say it or that's what it was called in his world. "We've got a special way to brew it back home but I can't find the right maker."

Which annoyed him. Everything on this planet was so fancy.

"I know that. Just was trying to get a feel for the place before I went off on my own," he said with a little shrug.

"You got the coffee part at least? Caf, sorry." He couldn't say the latter without thinking of baby cows and wanting to snicker. Maybe it was because of the caffeine? Was that even a thing around here? Cayde stopped that line of thought right there and then before he fell into a Warlock trap.

"I get it. Well hey, we already talked about it. Plenty of places to scout out and fix up. Least you won't be bored once we get back."

"Yeah, I bought a few pounds to bring back and I'm pretty sure others did too." As much as he could Cobb had bought dried goods, things that would keep for a long time without proper cold storage. "We'll have ground caf for awhile."

And maybe someone brought back caf seeds? Cobb hadn't but he didn't have a list of what everyone else thought was useful.

"You're probably more interesting the scouting than the fixing." He didn't get the sense Cayde liked construction as a hobby.

Farming was definitely not up his alley so finding seeds hadn't even crossed his mind. The most he'd considered was if they had some prepacked meat or something since he didn't really think there'd be some kind of livestock place around a city like this. But who was actually thinking of bringing livestock from here anyway? ....

Cayde took another drink from his mug, beaming. "You know me well enough already. I'm not much for being stuck in one place for long if I can help it. Finding stuff for the bar was like a big ol' scavenger hunt at least."

Cobb was a quick judge of people. He had to be most of his life. Cayde had a good spirit and a wild sense of adventure. In a tough situation though Cobb felt he could rely on the Exo.

"Might ask for that scouting knowledge when we get back," he mused outloud as he dealt another round. "To try and find the right place to rebuild. Didn't get to see too much before we got brought here."

"Now that I can do," Cayde said, lifting his mug at that. "Given how unsettled you were in the bar, I probably won't suggest a lakeside property but other than that, if you have any particulars you're wanting to work with for a place, I'm all ears."

Picking up the next few cards, he fanned them in his hand with the rest as he tallied them up. "Ranch space, picnicking area, playground for the kiddies..."

"No, I need land for the glownies but if there are good houses to fix up around the lake I'll fix 'em for other folks." As much as Cobb was tempted by the water he was still uneasy around it. He couldn't swim and didn't trust what was hidden by the water. Those fish could eat a person. Maybe.

He chuckled at the idea of a playground. Cobb didn't think there'd be many kids where he settled. "Might wanna put that by the Jedi temple. I think most of the kids will be around there."

Kids needed somewhere to play though, absolutely.

A big field, maybe a few trees to climb. Not much different needs for a child's space than raising animals. The Exo chuckled at the thought.

"Plenty of space for glownie grazing. Someone had a pen for 'em already- I think it was probably broken when all the critters started going nuts on us. Anyway," Cayde continued, waving a hand. "I'll look at the map and make some notes of what I can remember and then once we get back we can go from there."

"I appreciate the help, friend." This couldn't be done by just one man, no matter how determined that man was. Cobb needed help to do this. There wasn't the unifying factor of everyone being slaves like in Mos Pelgo but being trapped might be enough.

It might be the start. Cobb hoped it was that much, at least.

Feeling bold and reckless Cobb tossed another handful of credits onto the table to raise the pot. Why not? "I hope to see you in the kitchen with me at some point. I really want to figure out that ramen you keep talkin' about."

The Exo dipped his horned head in a nod. He might even help with some building but if there were people with more specific skills in that department then he wasn't about to take away from that.

Cayde considered his hand and the pile on the table, then decided to add a few more credits and three restraining bolts. He grinned as he dropped the latter.

"Oh yeah, I'd be up for that. I'll even draw you a picture of it. And then we'll see how much of a mess we can make of it," he laughed.

Cobb chuckled at the restraining bolts. Those weren't legal betting currency but who cared? This was a friendly game. No reason to get worked up over Cayde betting the bolts. They might even be pretty important to the Exo.

"A picture ain't as helpful as you taste testing things for me. But sure, whatever you think would be good to figure this out." Cobb raised his bet with just credits. The valuable things he'd gotten this trip he wanted to keep.

Truthfully the things were like loose change, and he really had no use for a pocket-full of the them.

"Ah, but a picture does give you an idea of what we're shootin' for," Cayde said. "Maybe your idea of a bowl of noodles topped with stuff is completely different from the one I pictured!" He eyed the credits Cobb added to the pile. "Not to say I won't be taste-testing, of course. So, we callin'?"

"Yeah, yeah, we're callin'."

They'd have plenty of time to experiment back in the city. Right now, they should play the game. Cobb could easily get distracted with a friendly game and friendly conversation.

He was more interesting in relaxing than winning anything.

Cayde was of a like mind when it came to their current game. It was nice to wind down some after everything, a middle ground between their city ventures on Coruscant and whatever awaited them back on Agra 10.

He laid out his cards on the table in front of him. "I'd say Blackjack if we were playing to twenty-one, but I don't think it wouldn't be the same with this many cards anyway," he chuckled.
