Party at the Blue Bantha!

WHO: Everyone!
WHERE: The Blue Bantha in Coruscant's entertainment district
WHAT: A party!
WHEN: The last day before they leave.
WARNINGS: Fun times? Probably drunkenness.

After having found this place on an outing with Echo, Obi-Wan had decided he rather liked this one particular establishment they stopped at. So for their last evening on Coruscant, the Jedi had the place rented out. A network post also going up inviting everyone for one last hurrah before they have to go back to Temba.

Welcome to the Blue Bantha Bar and Grill!

Everything is very blue. A bright blue neon sign advertises the joint in the entertainment district. Its letters in Aurebesh with a little bantha head shaped neon light next to it as well. The lighting inside is distinctly blue as well. There is a mounted bantha head placed on the far wall above the bar, its fur having been dyed blue. Clearly it is the mascot of this place.

There are tables and booths in varying locations for people to sit. With the tables having bantha hide rugs under them that look reminiscent of shag carpet, while the booth seats have bantha hide upholstery as well. There's a band playing in one corner with space for people to dance. While on another side there are screens broadcasting sporting events from across the galaxy. Feel free to place bets on who you think will win!

Even the staff are either blue, or are wearing blue. It won't be uncommon to have a blue scantily clad Twi'lek waitress serving you. The long bar also has blue neon lighting with several stools to sit at, in which you can order whatever drink your heart desires on their menu.

Speaking of the menu, everything is made with bantha products. That is what they specialize in. Several types of Jawa Juice, a kind of beer made from fermented grains mashed in bantha hides, can be found here. As well as Bantha Blood Fizz, a sparkling drink made from purified bantha blood in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties. And of course they serve several drinks featuring blue milk, from just the plain stuff to several alcoholic concoctions. There is also food of course! Bantha steak, bantha burgers, bantha stew, and other meat dishes are served as it's pretty much this galaxy's equivalent of beef. You can even get desserts made from blue milk such as cheesecake and ice cream.

Have fun! The Temba group have this establishment all to themselves for the night!

((OOC: This is a mingle log so go nuts!))

Cayde was of a like mind when it came to their current game. It was nice to wind down some after everything, a middle ground between their city ventures on Coruscant and whatever awaited them back on Agra 10.

He laid out his cards on the table in front of him. "I'd say Blackjack if we were playing to twenty-one, but I don't think it wouldn't be the same with this many cards anyway," he chuckled.

"Blackjack, that a card game from your world?" Cobb considered Cayde's hand and laid out his. Nineteen. The pot was Cayde's.

"You wanna teach me that game?" If it could be played with sabaac cards, that was. Cobb might as well get someone else to teach him cards for a change.

Or they could play another round of sabaac.

They hadn't been playing very seriously but that never stopped one from being happy to win. Cayde scooped over his winnings, beaming.

"It's a lot easier with less cards. No negatives, twenty-one's the hot number. Over and you're out. I think we can probably work something with a sabacc deck. Just needa remove the face cards, and say the ranked cards all hold value of ten except for the ace- that's and eleven or a one." He tapped his fingers against the table as he thought things out. "Probably take out the elevens from the suits, then that oughta work out all right..."

"Why not just leave the elevens and say the ace is always one?" Cobb suggested with an eyebrow raised. Might as well use the cards they had. He was right about the face cards. Those would just complicate things.

He gathered the deck again and started to remove cards, neatly stacking them off to the side. "How do you gamble with this one? Same style?"

Betting between rounds, he means.

"Too many elevens and aces are wild," Cayde replied. "Also keeps people guessing. You can either get an instant Blackjack if your other card happens to be a ten, or if you're over then it's your lifesaver as a one."

He gestured idly with a hand. "Eh, kind of. There's different ways to play Blackjack too so that can affect when you bet. Initial bets're the same though. You open, then everyone gets two cards, it's a hit if you want to be dealt another one, or you can choose to stay."
heypartner: (Gonna Be Great)

"Ah, you want the randomness." Cobb could see the appeal. Sabaac had so many cards it was hard to count the deck. At least, that's what people liked to say. There were a few ways to cheat it.

This seemed a little simpler. Two cards, though, upped the risk. There were a lot of numbers that wouldn't get you close to twenty-one that fast. He was curious to play.

"You wanna deal this one?" he asked as he offered the modified deck to Cayde.

Grinning, Cayde accepted the deck and shuffled it. Not as smoothly as when dealing with regular rectangular cards, but they were still manageable and he'd had some time to practice.

Given how it was only the two of them, Cayde decided to go for more casual play. He dealt a card to Cobb and one to himself, then repeated before setting the deck aside. "We'll just play a few rounds for fun. It's a lot simpler than Sabacc but a lot easier to go over too. Lemme know if you want another or if you're good," he said as he picked his starting two up.

"So, the game is more about how much risk you're willing to take," Cobb mused as he picked up his town cards. He looked them over. A seven. Not a great start but safe enough. "Do you ask for more or settle for something safe?"

Sabaac felt more strategic. This had a lot luck and chance involved. Maybe it was easier to count? Of course Cobb had to wonder how to cheat this game.

"Another card." He could really use it.
deal_me_in: (That's good right?)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-04-06 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
The Exo considered his own hand. "Depends. Sometimes I'll push my luck as far as it'll get me," he said, reaching over to slide Cobb another card before taking one for himself.

"If we were at an actual gaming table you just have to tap your finger to signal a hit for another card," he added, head tilting in query of whether that was the case or not. Sitting at fifteen himself, he figured he could risk another hit.
heypartner: (Considering)

[personal profile] heypartner 2021-04-06 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"What's the point of gambling if you aren't willing to take a little risk?" Cobb grinned slightly. He liked the risk of gambling and outsmarting his opponents. This Blackjack felt more luck based than reading tells and doing numbers.

It was different. Not bad but different. He could see it being popular back home just for being a different game to play.

"Call it a hit instead of a deal. Interesting." Cobb tapped his finger on the table. Not close yet. "How many times can you hit?"
deal_me_in: (Then I shot that guy)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-04-06 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
The grin that Cayde wore in response was testament enough to how much he liked to dance with risk. Blackjack was a quicker game than poker or Sabacc, with one card being able to change things in an instant.

He flicked over another card and after some consideration picked another for himself. "No limit. You go as much as you think you need." His hand was positioned to deal more cards as he waited to see what Cobb wanted.
heypartner: (Pouring)

[personal profile] heypartner 2021-04-06 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Or you bomb." Cobb was settled pretty well in his hand now. A seventeen. Too easy to go over in his opinion with most of the deck sitting next to Cayde's hand.

Maybe he was more of a careful player than he thought himself.

"I'll stay with what I've got." He even tossed a few more credits in the pot because hell, he could. It was an old trick to intimidate the table as well. Sometimes it work, sometimes people called his bluff.

"You sure?" Cayde asked, grinning as he waited to see if Cobb would definitely stick to his guns. A moment later he was throwing his cards on the table, the last draw putting him at twenty-five.

"Well that was a bust. Your game, Vanth."
heypartner: (Smug)

[personal profile] heypartner 2021-04-07 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, if there was one thing that Cobb could do and do well it was stick to his guns. He didn't need to draw again. The risk wasn't worth the reward in this case. Might be different the next game.

"Thank you kindly, Cayde." He drew the latest winnings over to him. "Another round?"

They could play for awhile until someone else joined them or Cayde left the table. Cobb might get up soon and mingle. Should be more social with folks he needed help from.
