Party at the Blue Bantha!

WHERE: The Blue Bantha in Coruscant's entertainment district
WHAT: A party!
WHEN: The last day before they leave.
WARNINGS: Fun times? Probably drunkenness.

After having found this place on an outing with Echo, Obi-Wan had decided he rather liked this one particular establishment they stopped at. So for their last evening on Coruscant, the Jedi had the place rented out. A network post also going up inviting everyone for one last hurrah before they have to go back to Temba.

Welcome to the Blue Bantha Bar and Grill!

Everything is very blue. A bright blue neon sign advertises the joint in the entertainment district. Its letters in Aurebesh with a little bantha head shaped neon light next to it as well. The lighting inside is distinctly blue as well. There is a mounted bantha head placed on the far wall above the bar, its fur having been dyed blue. Clearly it is the mascot of this place.

There are tables and booths in varying locations for people to sit. With the tables having bantha hide rugs under them that look reminiscent of shag carpet, while the booth seats have bantha hide upholstery as well. There's a band playing in one corner with space for people to dance. While on another side there are screens broadcasting sporting events from across the galaxy. Feel free to place bets on who you think will win!

Even the staff are either blue, or are wearing blue. It won't be uncommon to have a blue scantily clad Twi'lek waitress serving you. The long bar also has blue neon lighting with several stools to sit at, in which you can order whatever drink your heart desires on their menu.

Speaking of the menu, everything is made with bantha products. That is what they specialize in. Several types of Jawa Juice, a kind of beer made from fermented grains mashed in bantha hides, can be found here. As well as Bantha Blood Fizz, a sparkling drink made from purified bantha blood in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties. And of course they serve several drinks featuring blue milk, from just the plain stuff to several alcoholic concoctions. There is also food of course! Bantha steak, bantha burgers, bantha stew, and other meat dishes are served as it's pretty much this galaxy's equivalent of beef. You can even get desserts made from blue milk such as cheesecake and ice cream.

Have fun! The Temba group have this establishment all to themselves for the night!

Padme had heard about the gathering and, despite any protests from the Healers, decided to leave the twins in their care for a short while so she could attend. It would be the perfect opportunity to see and get to know the others she'd been brought to Agra 10 with.

She's dressed for the occasion in a flowing white and purple dress. It drapes down from a gold choker around her neck and two matching ones on her biceps. Her hair is in loose curls, held out of her face by a metal headband. Still tired, she's found a comfortable seat and is nursing a glass of wine. If anyone approaches, they'll be greeted warmly with a smile.

Having caught sight of Padme from his perch at the bar, Obi-Wan took his current mug of Jawa Juice and meandered over to where she sat.

"Hello Senator," he greets with perhaps a hint of a teasing smile as he bowed politely to her in the traditional Jedi way. "May I join you?" He knows full well he doesn't have to call her that, especially being out of time as they were, but he did anyway.

She can't help but grin at the formal greeting. She'd been correcting everyone who knew her, but in this case it seems to her that he's speaking with tongue firmly in cheek.

As such, she erases her grin and coaches her face into the well-practiced neutrally pleasant Senator Amidala face before giving him a nod. "Master Jedi."

Obi-Wan chuckles as he takes a seat across from Padme, her suspicion very much correct. Reaching out he took her hand and brought it to his lips to press a kiss on her knuckles.

“And you’re looking lovely as always.” You wouldn’t never think she had just given birth to twins, and he is so happy to see her doing well. “How are you feeling?”

She flushes a little at the kiss. So bold, Master Jedi. She smiles warmly at him, dropping the Senator façade.

"Why, thank you." It's a wonder how quickly one can recover when one has access to Jedi and Coruscant medicine. "I'm tired, but I imagine that will be the case for some time, now. How are you?"

He is a bold one, and not above flirting a little bit either. Though it’s really all quite harmless.

The Jedi nods and he agrees she’s probably got a bit of recovery time to look forward to. He’s honestly a bit surprised to see her here but she’s always been resilient.

“I am well, and admittedly the most content I’ve been in some time. I’ll be a bit sad to leave our world behind.”

Of course it is. They're friends, after all.

She's resilient and quite stubborn. She'll likely pay for the outing tomorrow, but she didn't want to miss the occasion.

"As will I." She agreed. "Though I am quite curious to see more of this other world we're meant to help save."

“There’s not much to see,” he says with a solemn tone. “Aside from ruined buildings and some natural features outside of the city.”

He sighs quietly, knowing that were about to go back to a desolate world where all sorts of strange things could happen. Though he wasn’t so much worried for himself as he was the new babies and their mother. It will be difficult raising them in such a place. Even Tatooine had better access to supplies.

She reaches out a hand to take his, giving him a reassuring smile.

"A place is more than the buildings, ruined or no. We've both seen war-torn planets that have thrived, no matter what damage had been done to them." Sorry, Obi-Wan. You're not going to bring Padme down. She's been through hell and still finds some reason to smile every day.

"But tonight isn't about that. Tonight is about being together and celebrating our time here."

Holding her hand he smiles back at her, glad that she could remain she optimistic.

“You’re right,” he said quietly. There would certainly be more time to see and talk about Agra 10 later. They should enjoy these last few moments while they had them. The Jedi looking up as the band went from playing an upbeat tune to a slower one.

“Perhaps you would like to dance then?” She should be able to handle something like that. Because she was also a reason for him to celebrate.

She has to be. She has to have something to think towards, otherwise she'll be left dwelling on the past... On... Well, the past.

His invitation is met with a laugh and a joyous smile. "I would love to." Giving his hand a squeeze, she lets him help her to her feet and lead her to the dance floor.

So true that is, and Obi-Wan has had to press forward himself. Yet so many things remind him of the past, especially here on Coruscant. It was nice to have her here with him.

So he’s delighted when she accept his invitation. Taking Padme by the hand he led her to the floor and into a slow and easy dance. His other hand placed on the small of her back. It had been awhile since he had done anything like this but he remembered how.

She appreciates the slowness of the dance. She might be healing well, but she's still moving much more stiffly than usual.

One hand gently comes to rest on his shoulder. It's remarkable how easy it is to fall into step with him. It's been so long since she's just danced with someone. It's a wonderful feeling.

"You dance very well."

"Pardon my sayin' so," Clarice smiled, sliding up beside Padme in the green dress she'd worn earlier that month to the opera, "but you look damn good for a woman who just had twins."

Padme chuckles, giving Clarice a bright smile. "You're very kind. I assure you it's all due to the wonderful Jedi Healers." She leans in, whispering conspiratorial, "And carefully applied makeup."

Normally she wouldn't have been so candid. But this woman was by her side as she went into labor. That certainly put her in a category all her own.

"You look very lovely. Did you get that dress while you've been here?"

"Wonderful, nothin'," Clarice chuckles, still amazed at the healers' abilities and technology. But Padme's quiet aside makes her laugh outright. "One thing's universal, I guess," she grins, matching that conspiratorial tone. "God bless whoever invented concealer."

At the compliment, her smile dims a bit for modesty's sake, but inwardly she's extremely pleased that someone as clearly fashion-forward in the culture as Padme thinks she's made good choices. "Thank you. I did, yes - I couldn't read the name of the boutique, but it was a few blocks from the market. The one with the Twi'lek mannequins in the right-hand window." She's very careful with the pronunciation, wanting to get it right.

There was certainly still some discomfort, and she would call it a night long before some of the others, but she was doing far better than any woman would have been after giving birth in Clarice's time.

She nods in agreement. The dimming of her smile gives Padme a moment of concern before she realizes Clarice is being modest. She smiles warmly, nodding both to acknowledge she knew the place and that Clarice had pronounced Twi'lek correctly. No bad for someone who'd only been in the Galaxy a short time. "I got a few dresses from that shop, myself. They have an excellent selection. I'm glad to see you found something that suits you so well."

"Believe me, so was I. I wasn't sure at first that I'd find anything that would - some of those skirts were a mile wide! I couldn't have gone anywhere in them without an entourage..."

She laughs, nodding knowingly. "An entourage does make it easier. But they generally have a support structure built into them. If they're made right it's easier to walk in them than they look."

"Wow. Just like Gone With The Wind," she marveled, then immediately realized the reference would be lost on Padme. "It's a book, where I'm from, a really famous one. Written in a time where women wore a lot of skirts that big. The support structures for those were almost heavier than the dresses, though."

She paused as something about what Padme had said registered. "... So, you had an entourage, then?"

Padme is thankful for the clarification. She nods in understanding. Some of the terminology might be different, but she understands the explanation.

She smiles, nodding. "Yes. I had handmaidens to help me both as a Queen, then as Senator. Ceremonial clothing on Naboo is historically quite cumbersome."

"Wow. You've had a pretty distinguished career for someone so young, if you don't mind my sayin' so. Don't get me wrong, I'm impressed. Women usually have to fight their whole lives to get that kind of clout where I'm from. I get the feeling if I'd been born in this world I'd be a very different person."

She chuckles, "While I was the youngest queen in Naboo's history, it has been customary for queens to be young. I remember thinking that the queen who succeeded me was old, and she was in her early twenties." Clarice's other comment gives her pause, "I understand. Every planet is quite different. I've been to worlds where they are completely scandalized to learn that any women hold positions of power. Alternately, there are worlds where men are practically slaves."

Clarice's mouth hangs open for the briefest moment in surprise. "I guess it's not just the Jedi who start folks off young here," she says. "People don't even start choosing a profession until they're maybe sixteen or so on Earth - at least, in my time. But ... those slavery planets sound terrible. No one should have to live like that."

She laughs, "Every planet does things differently. There are some where the races live for hundreds of years. They generally do things much more slowly."

The slavery comment makes her smile disappear. She looks down and nods, "I agree. I've been doing everything I can to change things, but thus far nothing has worked."
