Jedi Temple Tour

WHERE: Jedi Temple on Coruscant
WHAT: A tour of the temple!
WHEN: During the event.
WARNINGS: None. Label your threads accordingly!

It had taken some talks with members of the High Council, but Obi-Wan has delivered and managed to arrange limited access to the temple for the travelers from Agra 10. This included a guided tour! A network post is put out, inviting anyone that wanted to come. A day and time also being with the meeting place being at the steps of the temple.

Before going in, everyone is instructed to behave their best. That means staying in designated areas and not going anywhere off-limits. Also to be respectful and not get too rowdy. This is a home and a place of peace! Anyone causing a raucous and not following the rules will certainly be kicked out. There will be Jedi watching all of them at all times, and there is most definitely a security system in the temple that records everything too.

Weapons are not permitted on temple grounds! Unless you are a Jedi with a lightsaber. If anyone is carrying any they will be taken at the entrance and returned to them when they leave. Beskar armor is not allowed either (sorry Mando!). The temple has been attacked and looted in the past, plus there are children here, so they are simply being cautious with these strangers.

Ezra sighs, then raises a hand to rest on Obi-wan's upper arm. He's thought the ordeal of the group meditation, and meditated on his own impulses to take blame for unpleasant outcomes.

"That was a group effort, Obi-wan," he says firmly. "For better and for worse."

“Yes, I suppose it was,” he admits. A smile being given to the hand on his arm. Deep down he knew this of course, but it still bothered him a bit.

“That was not something any of you should have seen. Grogu especially .”

"See no, probably not," he admits, dropping his hand away again. "And I could have handled telling you about Vader better. I'd...hoped you did know everything you needed to know." And Master Kenobi did need to know Anakin still lived, in case he ever went back to when he'd come from on Tatooine, Ezra thought.

"And then we could just not talk about it," he says, with a sheepish shrug. "Pretty dumb, huh?"

Obi-Wan sighed softly and shook his head. “If it had been up to me, I never would have talked about it.” But it was true that he would have needed to know that Vader was still alive despite that.

“So perhaps in a way it was for the best. If I can’t be honest with my padawans, then I don’t know who I can be.”

He would be a rather poor example to them otherwise. And being a Jedi was never easily. They carried burdens most people didnt.

The corner of Ezra's mouth did a funny twist at Master Kenobi calling him one of his padawans. How could it both feel right, and make his heart feel like it was clenching as he reminded himself of what Obi-wan had said about not replacing Kanan? But it did.

"After the whole disaster that was Malachor - being tricked by Maul, Kanan being blinded, and believing Ahsoka was dead...I started hiding things from Kanan. He was struggling too, because, well. Blinded. I blamed myself, but I was angry with him, at the same time." He shook his head. "Things didn't get better until we started really talking to each other again. So, yeah. I hope we can be that kind of honest with each other. There are such things as necessary secrets - I never told anyone I found you on Tatooine."

He raised both his hands. "And I don't why there, or what. I don't expect you to tell me. I got enough from the Force to know it's important. Not the same as just...holding things in."

Yes... talking to each other was important. Being honest with each other. Perhaps this was indeed a lesson the Force was trying to teach him. He felt he didn’t talk to Anakin enough, and as a result they were never completely honest with each other. After all, Anakin had tried to hide his relationship with Padme from him among other things. It had hurt, but Obi-Wan never said anything and gave him his space. That had been a mistake. One of his many regrets. So as he listened to Ezra, he vowed that he could never do that again.

“No, I think we will start there,” he says after Ezra insists he doesn’t have to tell him his business on Tatooine. Turning to face the young man so he could look at him directly. “Padme’s children, they are Anakin’s. After everything that happened, I took the boy to Tatooine. That’s why I was there.”

Ezra was quiet for a moment, thinking that through, and trying to put together different pieces.

"I saw Padme in your memories - Anakin hurt her," he said, tone low and, yes, a little angry, but he was letting that go even as he said it. "Was that Mustafar?" he realizes. "And then...Luke was only one of the three to survive?"

He assumes. It made the most sense to him.

“Yes, he did,” Obi-Wan confirmed. It was deeply tragic how Anakin had turned on the woman he himself claimed to be saving. The woman he supposedly loved.

“And yes it was Mustafar. Padme was all right, but instead she died while giving birth to the twins. Leia did survive, but she was sent off with Senator Organa. We felt it best to split them up so that the emperor wouldn’t sense them.”

Ezra straightened, eyes going wide. "The Princess of Alderaan? I thought maybe it was just a popular name in the Core. Oh. Oh, that's so weird," he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck.

"We have to assume time has...split or something. Right? But the Leia I met, she was pretty amazing," he said, earnestly. "She did a mercy mission for Lothal, but it was also an op to let us steal cruisers for the rebels. All her plan."

“Yes, I suppose she would be a princess,” Obi-Wan mused. He hadn’t thought too much about that. Only that she had been trusted to a friend who had promised to love her. That’s what had been important.

“And I really don’t know. Between the two of us you are the expert on how time travel works.” He said this with amusement but it was true. Ezra had more experience in that than he did. “Very cunning of her, but then I would expect that of Anakin and Padme’s daughter.”

He then paused with a frown. “But I must ask you not to mention any of this to Padme. She doesn’t know yet, and I think it would be better if she heard it from me.”

He huffed in amusement at being called the expert. The World Between World had, strangely, intuitively made more sense to him than everything they're caught up in now.

Then he sobered at Obi-wan's request, and nodded. "Yes, Master Kenobi. I wouldn't. She hasn't mentioned Anakin by name, at all, and I'm sure she has her reasons."

The older Jedi nodded gratefully. He trusted Ezra with that, as he had never given him reason not to. The boy was sharp and thoughtful. He was not all worried. In fact he liked him quite a bit.

“She does. Padme is a dear friend of mine and I know her quite well. She is a strong woman, but she will need our help.”

Obi-Wan especially felt it was his duty to look after her and the twins.

"I think Ahsoka and Rex talked about her a few times," he mused. "They would do that. Talk about the old days, people they missed, but not always name names. Even about Anakin, Rex would usually just say 'my general'."

And under the shadow of the Empire, that sort of habitual secrecy made sense.

He shook his head again, but smiled. "I'd help just because, but it's sort of...nice. I've had two families so far. I lost my parents, but I got a new one by choice. And, ok, Ahsoka and Rex weren't always around; we all had our duties. But they were part of that. This is a chance to meet some extended family that I just didn't know about before."

It was good to know that they talked about them just as fondly as Obi-Wan did. Or would, considering he hasn’t spoken much of the “old times” just yet. It wasn’t that old to him.

His smile only broadened as Ezra began talking about family. “The Jedi were always like one big communal family. That’s all I’ve really ever known. But I would be honored to be part of your extended family and to have you as a part of mine.”

Even if Obi-Wan wouldn’t and couldn’t replace Kanan, he could at least help fill some of that void for him. And maybe Ezra could do the same. Making new bonds didn’t mean you forgot the old ones.

It had hurt a little, making the decision not to tell even Rex that Master Kenobi was alive. At least he knew, now, why Senator Organa had confirmed the death - to protect the twins.

He broke into a grin. He'd thought Obi-wan being included already was obvious enough, but hadn't they just got done talking about how saying things out loud could be a good thing?

"Likewise, Master Kenobi. Of course," he teased. "For as long as the Force keeps us together."

Of course.

That hit Obi-Wan’s heart in a way that hadn't in a long time. In a good way. The way that Ezra so easily accepted him was touching. So much so that he reached out to the boy to pull him into a tight embrace.

“For as long as the Force keeps us together.”
