Jedi Temple Tour

WHAT: A tour of the temple!
WHEN: During the event.

It had taken some talks with members of the High Council, but Obi-Wan has delivered and managed to arrange limited access to the temple for the travelers from Agra 10. This included a guided tour! A network post is put out, inviting anyone that wanted to come. A day and time also being with the meeting place being at the steps of the temple.

Before going in, everyone is instructed to behave their best. That means staying in designated areas and not going anywhere off-limits. Also to be respectful and not get too rowdy. This is a home and a place of peace! Anyone causing a raucous and not following the rules will certainly be kicked out. There will be Jedi watching all of them at all times, and there is most definitely a security system in the temple that records everything too.

Weapons are not permitted on temple grounds! Unless you are a Jedi with a lightsaber. If anyone is carrying any they will be taken at the entrance and returned to them when they leave. Beskar armor is not allowed either (sorry Mando!). The temple has been attacked and looted in the past, plus there are children here, so they are simply being cautious with these strangers.

Main Entrance

When everyone arrives, it will be on the public landing platform outside of the temple entrance. From there, they will walk along Processional Way and ascend the steps into the grand entryway itself.

Here they will be met by their Jedi guides. Obi-Wan will be there as well to help oversee the tour. This is where everyone will be given the rules, checked for weapons and any other illicit items.

Great Hall

Not far past the main entrance is the Great Hall. This chamber is massive, with four stories of walkways and balconies overlooking the main level. It is used as a meeting place for members of the Order and has varying turbolifts and chambers that connect to it. Most areas of the temple can be easily accessed from this point. Thus everyone will probably be passing through here several times.

This room also contains tombs for many great Jedi Masters. Their graves set into the floor before a pillar with a raised platform. Their names are on lit displays in aurebesh, sometimes with a statue as well.

It's so strange being back here. Emotions still swirl within him as Cal steps up towards the entryway. It's a nostalgic moment. It's also a lonely one, knowing that this is a place, a time unknowing to the horrific events that happen so much farther in the future, and while even Cal hadn't been present in the temple during the Purge, just the thought of how many had to have yet been here during that time is a painful one to think about. He knows most of them were young, given masters and knights had been sent out to fight for the Republic.

He doesn't realize he's stopped there until he hears BD-1's gentle hooting. Forcing a weak smile at the droid in thanks, he reaches up to offer his friend a pat on the head as he continues to where the others await.

Academy

Part of the tour includes a portion of the Jedi Academy. This is probably the most lively part of the temple as there are young children dressed in simple tunics that are found everywhere. Most of them sport a single braid behind their right ear, or something similar for those that don't have hair. Many wide-eyed younglings stare and giggle at the newcomers, but remain respectful.

There are various classrooms that can be seen. Some are lecture halls, while in others there are children practicing with lightsabers.

One of the more notable areas is a gymnasium where some older children and young adults are engaged in competitive sports, particularly smashball. All the young Jedi in the group are encouraged to play with them, and anyone else that feels up to taking them on. It'll be a challenge! Whether that's the case for you or them remains to be seen.

The Archives

Connected to the Academy is the gigantic library that is the Jedi Temple Archives. Here is claimed to be the most extensive collection of knowledge in the entire galaxy. There are ancient books, holocrons, and other forms of media that are stored here. Terminals are connected to the Jedi temple's database as well. You can even access the holonet if you want! There is even a room where projections of the galaxy and star maps can be displayed.

Like with any library everyone is expected to speak in hushed tones so as not to disturb anyone. The only part of the archives that is off limits is the vault where holocrons containing sensitive information are kept. Only the Jedi High Council may enter this area! Also, only Jedi can open holocrons. If there is something you're looking for that would be stored on a holocron, Jedi permission and assistance will be needed.

Room of a Thousand Fountains

The Room of a Thousand Fountains is one of the biggest highlights of the temple. It is a giant greenhouse type room with various plants from around the galaxy, including enormous trees. There are streams, waterfalls, even a lake! It is a lush paradise where anyone can come to as a retreat to relax and explore with simple walking paths and little nooks for meditation. There is even a very realistic looking sky above with a "sun" made up of several lights, though you can't tell from ground level.

Halls of Healing

One wing of the temple is completely devoted to medical care in the Halls of Healing. If you somehow manage to get hurt, or are interested in this galaxy's methods of medicine, then this is a place to check out!

There are various examination rooms, hospital wards, and rooms with bacta tanks. There is a full time staff of healers and some can be observed using crystals and the Force in their healing methods.

Training Halls

Want to catch some lightsaber action? The Training Halls are the place to be. There is a large gymnasium with varying challenges for every Jedi warrior, as well as smaller training rooms for dueling. Only Jedi can use the training halls and any weapons that are found there, but most rooms have a place for spectators to watch be it on an overlooking balcony or behind a window of transparisteel.

The Sacred Spire

The tallest and central spire is the most sacred area of the Jedi Temple. Here is where the ancient mountain peak is covered and a spirit of contemplation can be felt as a Force nexus is found here.

Visitors will take a turbolift up the length of the spire and will be able to view the history of the Jedi Order, up to this point in time, on the way. Mosaics, statues, and other works of art can be viewed as well. At the top can be found meditation rooms and places to view the city beyond as well as the four other surrounding spires.

At the lower levels of the spire, there are transparisteel corridors that overlook the intact mountain slopes, while paths can be taken into the mountain where ancient chapels and temples are found.

For Obi-wan

Maybe, Ezra considers as he follows Master Kenobi and the rest of their group through the entrance of the temple, he shouldn't be gawking.

But he is, gawking, a little bit. This is almost nothing like the Jedi Temple on Lothal. Sure, there had been spaces in that temple that were, as far as he could tell, impossibly big on the inside and full of stars. But until you stepped into those special rooms, the temple had been dark, and full of narrow passageways.

His gaze lingers on the memorials in the Great Hall and he takes a couple of quick steps to catch up to Master Kenobi.

"Master Kenobi, do-" he says, then hesitates, then pushes on. "Do Jedi have a particular funeral ceremony?"

Hearing Ezra call out to him, Obi-Wan pauses and turns to him. His question drawing a look of understanding. He has a feeling he knows why the boy is asking.

“Yes, actually,” the Jedi Master replies as he glances at one of the tombs they’re close to.

“The bodies of most fallen Jedi are cremated on a funeral pyre. Their closest friends and peers looking on to pay respects. It is a symbol of leaving the body behind as they become one with the Force.”

He then gestured to the nearest grave. “An exception to that is the bodies of our most respected members are laid to rest here in the temple.”

For Lauri-Ell

Of all the places in the temple, the Room of a Thousand Fountains was perhaps the one he missed the most. Obi-Wan had spent a great deal of time here throughout his life. Thus he lingered here for quite awhile, taking in the sights, smells, and the feeling of life all around him. It brought him a peace and calm that few other places could.

Strolling through the gardens, he came upon a pretty space. A carpet of velanie and hai-ka flowers stretching out before him. Their delicate scents wafting through the air. Deciding to rest there, Obi-Wan sat himself beneath a blueblossom tree and quieted his mind. Content to meditate there unless someone happened to come along.

"There wasn't a body," Ezra explains, in a hushed tone. "I mean, I assume there wasn't one to recover even if we retook all of Lothal. Kanan died in a fuel depot fire."

His suspicions were right and Obi-Wan reached out to place a hand on the boy’s shoulder.

“And you’re wanting to know how you can pay tribute to him despite that.”

It was certainly understandable, and he felt deep compassion for Ezra in this regard.

"We didn't have time then. And it could be a long time, if ever, before I'm back with the rest of our family to do it with them. This seems like the right place to do it?" Ezra says, glancing sideways at Master Kenobi. "His first home."

Obi-Wan nodded approvingly, stroking his beard as he considered the matter. They were certainly in a different time, but it would be fitting to honor a fallen knight in this place.

“I’m certain we could arrange a ceremony, and I would be honored to witness it. Do you want anyone else there? Or would you prefer it to be private?”

"There's not anyone else I want there - you're the only other one who remembers him, unless maybe Grogu does? Nut I guess it doesn't have to be private."

Taking another moment to consider, Obi-Wan glances at the group as they continue on through the hall. His gaze going back to Ezra.

“Come with me. We can catch up with them later.”

This was a personal thing, and he doubted Ezra would want to make a spectacle of such a thing in front of others who wouldn’t understand. And he was right, Obi-Wan was likely the only other person here who remembered his master.

When everyone gathered at the front of the temple, there were a couple people Obi-Wan had specifically been looking for. He managed to catch sight of Ezra, and then saw Cal having paused on the steps.

With a bit of concern, the Jedi Master quietly approached the young Jedi as he started walking again.

“Cal, I’m glad to see that you came.”

She had been wandering for nearly an hour now. This place was... well, it was illogically arranged to a Kree mind. But she would not claim she was lost. That would be inaccurate. She knew where she was, just now what where she was happened to be.

That said, she had found this place, and here Lauri-Ell had smiled.

"Oh there are flowers!"

Cal smiled lopsidedly, shrugging as he met up with Obi-Wan. "I figured I should." His eyes trailed towards the entryway. "I'm not going to lie though. It's difficult being here. I know it would be so easy to just turn right now and leave."

But he knew that this was an opportunity he couldn't miss, as hard as it was.

“That would be easy,” Obi-Wan agrees as he walks side by side with Cal into the temple. It had been hard for Obi-Wan as well, particularly when he first set foot in here.

“However, healing often means facing the past. It may be difficult, but it must be done in order to move forward.”

The appearance of one of their group was not much of a surprise to Obi-Wan. Though he had never formally met this particular woman. A smile touched his face as he observed her delight over the flowers.

“There are indeed,” he says from where he’s sitting. “I take it you have a particular fondness for them?”

"Yeah, I know..." Cal says quietly as they continue on. "...I don't think I really let myself think too much about what happened at the temple back then. My master and I were on the Albedo Brave over Bracca." He can sense the life, the Force in these halls, a strong presence of Jedi. Had it been like this, before he left? Before everything happened? He can't remember.

"...but coming here now made me wonder. It just...hurts to think about how many were lost."

As they walked, Obi-Wan nodded in understanding. It was difficult to think about. Something he had tried to put out of his mind, but it was easier said than done. The nightmares and the episode he’d had earlier made it impossible for him to forget.

“Though I was on Utapau when it happened, Master Yoda and I managed to return here after the attack.”

He paused, as it was still so difficult to speak of.

“Let’s just say I’m glad you were spared the sight we came back to.”
