Jedi Temple Tour
WHO: Anyone that wants to come!
WHERE: Jedi Temple on Coruscant
WHAT: A tour of the temple!
WHEN: During the event.
WARNINGS: None. Label your threads accordingly!
It had taken some talks with members of the High Council, but Obi-Wan has delivered and managed to arrange limited access to the temple for the travelers from Agra 10. This included a guided tour! A network post is put out, inviting anyone that wanted to come. A day and time also being with the meeting place being at the steps of the temple.
Before going in, everyone is instructed to behave their best. That means staying in designated areas and not going anywhere off-limits. Also to be respectful and not get too rowdy. This is a home and a place of peace! Anyone causing a raucous and not following the rules will certainly be kicked out. There will be Jedi watching all of them at all times, and there is most definitely a security system in the temple that records everything too.
Weapons are not permitted on temple grounds! Unless you are a Jedi with a lightsaber. If anyone is carrying any they will be taken at the entrance and returned to them when they leave. Beskar armor is not allowed either (sorry Mando!). The temple has been attacked and looted in the past, plus there are children here, so they are simply being cautious with these strangers.
((OOC: This is a mingle log! Feel free to thread with whoever you want! It doesn't have to be Obi-Wan! I will be posting top levels, with descriptions, for everyone to respond to. A few will be closed to Jedi only, but for the most part its completely open! If you have any questions about anything feel free to PM me or contact me on the discord group or on Plurk.

Grogu’s memories of a happy life in the temple made him happy and mirrored his own earliest memories. While Cal’s brought warm feelings as well. He was happy to see such fond memories of their time in the Order.
Though his own memories of his master rose up as well. The joy he felt in being accepted by Qui-Gon and his determination to do him proud. That coupled with the confusion he got from the cryptic and stern teaching method, such as when he had been gifted a rock for his birthday. Though there was warmth there as well, and excitement when he realized the stone was force sensitive and helped through a troubling time under the threat of losing his memories.
Overall his memories of Qui-Gon were up and down. He had struggled to find a balance with his teacher. He was slow and behind in his studies due to not having a strong natural talent in the Force. Master and student often didn’t connect leading to frustration on both sides. Then there was dismay when it was revealed his master intended to pass him off to someone else. Thus followed by the joy when things finally clicked with Obi-Wan and student and teacher became the team they had always been meant to be. Everything he did seemed to be a struggle, but somehow managed to work out in the end.
Obi-Wan was a Padawan well into adulthood though. The memories of finding Anakin and Qui-Gon’s obsession with training him stung a little particularly when he told the council he intended to take him as his student when he already had one. All of that leading to the battle on Naboo. He and his master fighting a Sith Lord that Ezra would be very familiar with, while Obi-Wan had to watch as his master was slain.
There was a deep pain at that memory. One that had been buried for a long time. The young man holding his master’s body, promising to train the boy. Weeping when Qui-Gon had drawn his last breath and became one with the Force.

His eyes fly open, and he says out loud, "Maul."

Ezra's outburst startles him out of his meditation. His eyes open and he turns to look at him quizzically. What?

He could feel the pain of loss, the despair in seeing Obi-Wan's master cut down. He knows that loss personally, and he knows he's not the only one. It still aches, but then there's also that sense of foreboding. It wasn't the first time Cal had seen someone wielding a double-bladed lightsaber in red, but the Sith wielding it wasn't someone he recognized. But someone among them did.
Ezra's break in concentration caused a chain reaction through their connection, and as he felt Grogu slip as well, it felt like trying to grasp at a frayed rope in the wind to maintain it. The attempt showed on Cal's face, but it seemed there was little point in trying to hold onto it when half of their group had already dropped out. He breathed out as he slowly let go, but not without a brief brush of the Force sent Obi-Wan's way, like a hand on one's shoulder.

Though Obi-Wan certainly felt that feeling from Cal and he looked his way as they all came out of it. A sad smile on his face as he knew the Padawan understood, but also grateful for the support. He then glanced at Grogu to make sure he was all right before turning his attention to Ezra.
"You know Maul?"
Could it be that the zabrak was still alive even in his time? He has proven he was too stubborn to die.

"Y-yes. He blinded Kanan. And kind of...stalked me for a while." He grimaced again, shifting uncomfortably. "Because he really wanted me to be his apprentice. But he's dead. In my time, he's been dead for about a year."

"...will you two be all right?" he asked gently. Ezra was the most recent to have dealt with the Sith, and hearing that Maul had still been around somehow after all those years couldn't be an simple thing for Obi-Wan to digest.
no subject
“That does sound like him. He stalked me as well and dragged others down with him just so he could get his revenge. I thought I had killed him when I cut him in half. I’m sorry I was unable to stop him.” If he had then a lot of lives would have been spared. A lot of pain could have been avoided. But alas it seemed Maul’s obsession and hatred for him had extended farther than he could have imagined.
Breathing in deeply, Obi-Wan let it out again before giving a solemn nod at Cal. “Yes, but I warn you it’s not the last you will see of him in my memories. Does anyone need to take a break or shall we continue?”
no subject
He ran a hand over his face. "I think I'm ok. The thing is...when I first met Maul, he tried to get me to trust him by acting like a sad old man who just lonely. Which worked at first," he admitted, with deep regret. Maybe Kanan wouldn't have been blinded, if Ezra had been more wary.
"I think it worked because it was partly true. Maul did care about me in his way." He knew that probably sounded delusional, but even as he said it, he was even more sure it was true. "He played mind games, and hurt other people I care about, but he never even threatened to raise a blade against me. He protected me when he didn't have to. Part of him wanted something more than...all that pain. He didn't know how to get past it. Wasn't willing to actually try, I guess."

But it seemed to underline that people didn't have to necessarily start off in the Dark Side. So many things could warp one to fall, just like Taron Malicos. Perhaps like Maul too. And then there was Trilla...
Cal looked between the other three again. "I don't think our memories and experiences will be as pleasant as the ones we started to share, but then...that's why we're here, right?" He nodded at Obi-Wan. "I'm ready to continue whenever everyone else is."
no subject
"Maul was just as much of a victim of Palpatine as we were," he said, his attention directed back to Ezra. "When I encountered Maul several years after the incident on Naboo, I noticed many of the things you did as well. However, he did make his own choices and there was a great deal of conflict and suffering on Mandalore due to that. I don't know the circumstances in the future, but I can say with certainty that I was right. It was not your burden to bear, Ezra."
no subject
He'll have to think more on that later. For now, he just gives Master Kenobi a bittersweet smile. "He didn't stop making things worse. And he could have. Yeah."
He straightens on his cushion again and closes his eyes. "Let's keep going."
no subject
But Cal and Ezra were right. They had to continue. He nods, closing his eyes and trying to reconnect to everyone.
no subject
Cal nodded as Ezra prompted they continue, casting a glance at Obi-Wan and Grogu before he took a deep breath to prepare himself again as he closed his eyes, reaching out to the others through the Force.

It couldn’t be expected for everyone to understand and relate to all of everyone else’s experiences. But for those that they could, the understanding and support would be invaluable. It was finding those connections that was the point of this exercise.
So when they were all agreed to continue, Obi-Wan looked between the three of them and nodded. Watching as the young ones settled in again before he did as well. The Jedi master closing his eyes and reaching out to complete the circle of connection between them.
It didn’t take long for things to pick up again. Even if they had to start over due to the interruption. Though thanks to the emphasis on Maul, his mind went a certain direction.
Again it was in his younger years. He and his master going to Mandalore. Tasked with protecting the young duchess as conflict broke out among her people. Flashes of memory being on the run, living hand to mouth, and risking his life to protect the girl. All of this leading to a love that blossomed between Obi-Wan and the girl named Satine.
After a year peace was restored and there was the ache of separation. Satine going on to rule her people while Obi-Wan continued his studies as a Jedi. Then there was a jump forward in time, over a decade, where they met again. Petty squabbles, followed by Satine being held hostage. Obi-Wan admitting, due to Satine’s insistence, that he would have left the Jedi Order for her if she had asked.
Yep Master Kenobi had a girlfriend! Do what you will with that information boys.

He doesn't really understand why this feels like such a source of conflict, and his puzzlement rings clearly through the Force. He shuffles through his own memories, of Hera and Kanan: hanging back and giving them space while they had quiet, private, intense discussions, of the warm sense of belonging he got sometimes when they teased each other or gave each fond looks.
But then his memories skip to Kanan, kneeling to meditate, but pausing to twist to talk to Ezra, sightless eyes not hidden. I can't think clearly because of how I feel about her. I might make a mistake. Ezra had ignored his own flicker of trepidation, then and with determination had taken point in planning the mission to rescue Hera.
And that was the mission Kanan had died to complete. Ezra eases back from his connections to others, trying not to show them directly the bloom of fire across the sky, and the hearts stopping horror of knowing there was no way to get Kanan out of there, even as Ezra had held onto Hera - to narrow that feeling down to one of finality.

He understands the implication of Master Kenobi's memories of the woman. More than that, he recognizes the armor being worn in those memories... Mandalorians. His own mind turns to memories of his Mandalorian protector.
He remembers the moment when his pram was opened and he saw the Mandalorian and the droid for the first time. Din decided to spare his life, killing the droid. Him using the Force to save Din's life from the mud horn. Hearing blaster fire and outraged shouting before Din burst into the room where he was being held, rescuing him from the Empire scientists. From there it was nearly a montage, flashes of moments of Din protecting him, of the lengths he'd gone to keep him safe. The growing affection Grogu had for his protector, the trust that he was safe with him when so many were trying to kill him. The memories slowed and ended in a forest. Ahsoka floated a rock over to Grogu and asked him to float it back. He looked at Din, uncertain of he was ready to leave his protection. Uncertain if Din was ready for him to go. Instead of using the Force, he dropped the stone to the ground. It wasn't until Din crouched down and held out the silver ball, speaking gently to him in a tone he'd never heard him use with anyone else that he used the Force and pulled the ball to his hands. Din was so excited, so proud that he'd done it. He was thrilled... He wasn't ready to leave, then.

His own memories carried them through a terrified escape through the Venator's maintenance shafts, finally to the escape pods where he watched his master take multiple shots as the tall Lasat tried to protect him from the hail of blasterfire while the young padawan tried desperately to get the pod hatch to open. In fear, in desperation, perhaps even in a touch of anger for not understanding what was happening, Cal had reacted in the Force, hands flung outward, slowing the movements of the oncoming troopers before he helped haul the injured Tapal into the pod. The weight of the damaged lightsaber of his master as it was pressed into his hands, and all at once that sense of being alone and lost.
It had taken time for him to be found, to find others. The memories shifted to a more recent time, Cal in his familiar rigger's worksuit and poncho, dangling precariously by a foot entangled by a cable over the many-toothed maw and flailing tentacles of something almost akin to a sarlacc, reaching out for the Force for the first time in years to pull a hover barge beneath his falling friend to save him. It was a pebble tossed into a calm pond, the repercussions immediate as the Empire was quick to follow up the sighting of something so unusual. The black-uniformed Inquisitors came to Bracca then, killed his friend who had sought to protect him. There was no hiding, not anymore.
He'd found refuge, purpose, with those who had come to save him, but there was a careful sort of trust there, fragile, held together only for the common goal- to seek out a holocron containing the names of Force-sensitive children. The first key to the vault it had been hidden in was lost to the Inquisitor, but the search of a second would take Cal to Dathomir. The way was treacherous, the Nightbrothers didn't take kindly to a trespasser. Still Cal prevailed, finally gaining access to the tomb of an ancient Zeffo in hopes of finding the other astrium that would help them open the vault on Bogano. Maybe it was the darkness of Dathomir, maybe it was a test, perhaps even both- but it was then that Cal met his master again, an imposing shadow that made nothing but accusations, goading the padawan to attack. There was a shudder through the shared connection between the other three Jedi as Cal braced himself for what he knew would come in that memory, one he was not proud of, one that he still struggled with, for it was the most recent of his experiences before he was brought by the Agrii. He ran his master through, but Tapal only grasped the lightsaber, crushing its emitter in his hand as he proclaimed words that threatened to crush the padawan himself: You are no Jedi.

That but of confusion on Ezra’s end was met with a gentle assurance that he would explain later. There was much for all of them to talk about and discuss when this was over. Probably for a long time to come as they would sort out their feelings. But then Obi-Wan felt a sense of wonder and respect as he saw Ezra’s memories of Kanan. He had been close to someone, intimately so. Yet he also realized his limits and how his feelings conflicted with his ability to be a Jedi. So much that he held back on his impulses. The master couldn’t help but be impressed. It would also give him something to think about.
Then things shifted to Grogu and they all got a brief history of the little one with the Mandalorian. A sense of understanding coming from Obi-Wan as it shed light on their relationship. But as they saw Ahsoka there was clear emotion from Obi-Wan’s end. Again he was happy to see her alive and so grown up. He was so proud of her, and he missed her terribly. A few brief flashes of her as a Padawan filtering through as a result.
Then Cal’s memories came through like a tidal wave, threatening to overwhelm the master as a deep pain was felt. Seeing the young boy struggle and feeling his keenly through those experiences, particularly involving those during the purge. Obi-Wan reached out to him through the Force, enveloping the young man in what could be interpreted as a hug. Offering his support and comfort even as there was a feeling of guilt resonating from the Jedi.
This was my fault.
But that feeling was whisked away as soon as it came when Cal’s memories shifted to the night brothers. Again thoughts of Maul were kindled even as compassion was given for the supposed failure of his trial. Bleeding into Obi-Wan’s own memories again.
A snarling Maul flanked by his larger brother. Both wielding red lightsabers as they ganged up on him. Taunting him with the death of his late master which caused a rage to erupt in Obi-Wan. Cal not being the only one who didn’t always act very Jedi-like. These memories then leading to conflict of Mandalore. Maul leading the Death Watch in their takeover of the planet. Grogu would probably recognize Bo-Katan as she sought out his help. She was younger, but it was unmistakably her. Obi-Wan felling one of the Death Watch’s members and taking his beskar armor. Which he wore while rescuing Satine, only to get caught and brought before Maul. The zabrak wielding the darksaber as he ran the duchess through with it. Leaving her to fall while Obi-Wan gathered her into his arms. Satine’s hand reaching up to touch his cheek. I’ve always loved you, and I always will. Those being her last words before she died in the arms of the Jedi who couldn’t save her.

He sends firm rejection of Master Kenobi accepting blame for the massacre of the Order with the clear thought: It's his fault. - along with the image of Palpatine, face half hidden under a dark hood, and half lit by blue flame dancing along a Sith altar, but then...
Ahsoka, expression defiant, firmly shoving Ezra behind her, to stand between him and the Sith Master. After that crisp memory comes flickers of other memories, steeped with Ezra's appreciation and affection for her: other moments of her leaping between Ezra and danger, her sneaking a grin or a wink in his direction, or dropping a comforting hand on his shoulder.
From there he turns deliberately to other memories of her - the way she'd flung her arms around Rex (older, bald, and bearded but clearly a clone) and how her face would light up when she spoke of Obi-wan.
It's not just pain that ties them together.

Taking a deep breath, he tries to focus less on the details he doesn't recognize or understand and more on the feelings they stir up.
Seeing Ahsoka makes him happy. He liked her a lot. He brings up the memory of sitting and communicating with her through the Force. It was the first time he'd been able to properly communicate with anyone since he went into hiding. He also shared the moment when Ahsoka told Din his name. After traveling for so long, Din could finally call him by his name instead of just 'kid.'
He did recognize Bo-Katan. His memories went to the trawler and being attacked by the Quarren. His pram had been the only thing to save him from being eaten by that creature, before one of the Mandalorians saved him. He showed Din's disdain as the trio of Mandalorians removed their helmets and his reluctance to accept that they were truly Mandalorians. Ultimately, though, Din agreed to help them with a mission to steal weapons in exchange for information about where to find a Jedi who might be able to train Grogu.

As the memories from the others filled in again, it allowed Cal a chance to breathe, some distance in the form of unfamiliar people and more positive experiences. He saw the same faces echo within the memories of the other three and while he was happy for them, happy for the knowledge of more survivors, he also felt more alone. It was a feeling he brushed away; there was no being lonely when he was here among them, now knowing more intimately the things they had gone through. He could believe that, but it didn't completely erase that initial sentiment. There was still a lot he was working on, but at least Cal was trying. They could show happier things, proof that things could still turn out all right, that not all hope was lost. He needed to not focus on the negative things, difficult as it was.
Memories of Kashyyyk flowed forth from him, of a literal birds-eye view of the immense forest greenery that still covered the planet despite the Empire's attempts, marked by a smudge of black smoke. Cal rode with BD-1 atop the back of the great Shyyyo bird, considered an ancient guardian of the Origin Tree, a tree that grew so impossibly tall that it towered even above the leafy canopy below. A rare moment of peace, knowing that here was a place, that even on this world, there was still so much untouched by the Empire.

But that didn’t matter at the moment as both Ezra and Grogu shared their memories of Ahsoka. It touched him to see her so vividly in their thoughts. She was a bright light even in their minds. It touched him even more to hear her talk about him with such fondness. He could also see her mannerisms. The way she put her hand on her chin when she thought, just like him. He could also see Anakin in her, and that brought him both grief and joy. To see him living in on her. Hopefully the kids wouldn’t see the tears that now streaked his face.
Cal’s sense of loneliness didn’t go missed though, if his own feelings of guilt. Obi-Wan passed a sense of warmth of him. While they didn’t all share the same experiences, or know the same people, none of them were alone. They all had many things in common with each other.
But oh... Anakin. Memories of his old Padawan began to surface. They were truly at the heart of this Jedi. There was visions of the two of them standing at a funeral pyre, with Obi-Wan promising a little boy that he would become a Jedi. There were also those of training, of good times and bad. Anakin accusing him of not wanting him, of being stuck with him because of his promise to Qui-Gon. While later Obi-Wan admitted he thought Anakin had been stuck with him. Their bond growing after that point. The two of them always being at each other’s side as the years passed, even after Anakin was knighted in what was Obi-Wan’s proudest moment. Fighting together in the clone wars, their brotherly bond clear as they seemed perfectly in synch with each other. They had been unstoppable together, and shared so many light hearted moments. Even if they did butt heads occasionally. There was no mistaking how close they were.
Which is what made his fall so painful.
His mind ripping him from those happy memories to ones of pain and destruction. A Jedi temple littered with bodies, a hologram of Anakin cutting down children before kneeling down to the emperor. A fiery planet where Anakin choked a young pregnant woman who some might recognize from her recent arrival. “You turned her against me!” Anakin shouted in blame. His anger and seething hatred completely opposite of the previous memories. A duel followed that spanned an entire complex surrounded by lava. The two knowing each other so well that they were evenly matched. Neither one of them able to get the upper hand even as Anakin fought viciously in a clear attempt to kill his former master.
But no... no no no he knew where this was going. A panic rose in Obi-Wan because the children shouldn’t have to see this, yet the memories flowed from him before he could stop it. Anakin trying to leap over Obi-Wan despite his warnings. The Jedi then cutting the young man down to land, writhing in pain, on the shore of the lava river.
“You were the chosen one! It was said you would destroy the Sith not join them! Bring balance to the Force, not leave it in darkness!”
These words followed by a spitting hatred from the prone man on the ground. “I HATE YOU!”
An agony washed over Obi-Wan. “You were my brother Anakin! I loved you!”
Then suddenly the fallen Sith Lord caught on fire. The flames consuming his body entirely as he screamed. It was a horrendous sight. So much that Obi-Wan had to look away.
