WHAT: A tour of the temple!
WHEN: During the event.

It had taken some talks with members of the High Council, but Obi-Wan has delivered and managed to arrange limited access to the temple for the travelers from Agra 10. This included a guided tour! A network post is put out, inviting anyone that wanted to come. A day and time also being with the meeting place being at the steps of the temple.

Before going in, everyone is instructed to behave their best. That means staying in designated areas and not going anywhere off-limits. Also to be respectful and not get too rowdy. This is a home and a place of peace! Anyone causing a raucous and not following the rules will certainly be kicked out. There will be Jedi watching all of them at all times, and there is most definitely a security system in the temple that records everything too.

Weapons are not permitted on temple grounds! Unless you are a Jedi with a lightsaber. If anyone is carrying any they will be taken at the entrance and returned to them when they leave. Beskar armor is not allowed either (sorry Mando!). The temple has been attacked and looted in the past, plus there are children here, so they are simply being cautious with these strangers.

Cal had a point. It was difficult for both him and Master Yoda to be there, yet they had to, so that they could warn other Jedi to stay away. Not even the best of them was immune to such devastation and loss of life. Where there had been peace and tranquility had turned into awful silence and emptiness. The temple had become a tomb. Here and now, it still felt like things had before all of that.

"For you, I would say so. There is no war, no Jedi generals going off to fight the battles of the Republic. It feels like it did when I was young. A place of contemplation and peace, perhaps even more so than what I had known. The Jedi pursuing knowledge of the Force and helping those who need it. I believe we had lost sight of that somewhat during the war, as entrenched as we were in it."

A time without a war. It's only Obi-Wan's words that make him realize that Cal had never really known a true time of peace. His entire time at the temple had been during the fighting, and it was difficult to say that the younglings and padawans hadn't been at least somewhat influenced by that, eager to take their place on the battlefield with the Jedi Knights and Masters, taking the idea of peacekeepers and protectors as something that required a lightsaber in hand.

"Yeah..." Cal murmurs as he looks ahead at the halls, full of Jedi, a distinct lack of tension. "I wonder if we hadn't gotten so caught up in the war, if things would have gone differently."

"It's hard to say," Obi-Wan murmured thoughtfully. "We were put in a very difficult position. One that forced us to make decisions that some Jedi didn't agree with. At the time, it seemed like the right thing to do."

Hindsight is always 20/20, and the Jedi Council certainly was not infallible. There were many times he didn't agree with some of the decisions made himself, and he was part of the council. But he also knew that the war had been orchestrated against them by Palpatine as well. There may have been no avoiding it.

"I certainly missed the days like this," he said wistfully.

Cal nods solemnly at that. They were all being herded into situations, all entrapped in a bigger scheme than they realized, much less had any idea had been happening. It doesn't make the knowledge of what had happened any easier to take, of course. But there's little to be done about regretting the things that had happened.

"...then it's all the more important to enjoy what we can while we've been given the chance here," he says, his smile faint but genuine as he reaches up and sets a hand on Obi-Wan's shoulder.

Little to be done indeed. All they could do was move on, survive, pass on what they knew. That last part in particular was Obi-Wan’s burden. The future of the Jedi depended on it.

“Yes, that’s right. Not only here, but on Agra 10 as well.” Cal’s smile was returned and he placed his hand atop the young man’s as it rested on his shoulder. “Even when we leave this place, we will still have each other.”

It's more than they could have expected to have, which makes Cal more thankful for the opportunity. He gives the Jedi master a nod.

"Yeah. That's true." They had lots to think about, a lot yet to shoulder, but at least they aren't alone.

“But since we are here, I want to make the most of it for all of you. If there is anything you need, I’m here to help as well. We have been offered use of all the temple facilities during our stay.”

He looked at Cal, wondering if there was anything he particularly wished to take away from this visit into the past.

"Really?" Cal wonders how much Obi-Wan had told the Council, but then he wonders that the temple is more open to people in general curious about their ways than how he remembers it to have been.

"I'm...not really sure, actually." As much as he feels more comfortable about being here, it's still overwhelming in its own way. Part of him feels out of place, and not merely because he's not of this time. "I mean, there's still..." His eyes stray to the long metal hilt hanging from his belt. "But I don't know how possible taking a trip outside of Coruscant would be."

“Yes, just to us Jedi. The rest of the group is more limited.” Obi-Wan had managed to get them all in but he can’t work miracles. Much of the temple was still available to Jedi only. But there was four of them here and the council was welcoming to them.

Obi-Wan’s gaze follows Cal’s to the hilt and an understanding comes to him. “You need a kyber crystal.” Of course. That should be forefront on Cal’s mind. They had been discussing making one before they got here. “I don’t know about a trip to Ilum, but the they should have some here.”

That makes sense enough, and Cal nods in understanding of that. "I think I'll have to take a look around and see what's available. Then maybe I'll have a better idea of what all I should do while I'm here."

He lifts his head as Obi-Wan speaks about an alternative to have to go all the way to Ilum. "Would they?" He supposes it would make sense to have spares. Jedi were prone to losing or damaging lightsabers all the time due to circumstances outside of their power. Cal never heard of them having to go all the way back to Ilum to retake a test for replacements though, but then he'd never really thought about it otherwise.

“A wise plan,” Obi-Wan says with a nod. He hoped that Cal would be able to reconnect more with his roots as a Jedi. Though he is well aware how difficult it is for him, and he wouldn’t ever think to push him.

“Yes, there are always spares. The ideal way is to search for a crystal that calls to you. I myself took a trip to Ilum the two times I needed replacements. However, I’m certain you could bond with a crystal that’s readily available in the temple.”

His trip to Ilum was like another lifetime ago, the details fuzzy. Cal knows having to get a replacement all the time is less than ideal, but he also feels that he needs a proper lightsaber if he wants to help look out for those on Temba.

"If I'm allowed to try to claim one, then I think that seems a better option than trying to make one."

“Most certainly. I shall see if I can get it arranged for you.”

He can’t imagine that they would deny Cal when he clearly needed one. Particularly if one of the crystals chose him. Obi-Wan is quite confident that Master Fae would give him that opportunity.

Cal smiles at that. "Thank you." He supposes he'll have to wait and see how things progress from there, but at least it leaves him with some direction and still plenty of time to have a look around.

“Of course. For now, try to enjoy what you can and take the time to learn. We may never have an opportunity like this again.”

Though it pained him to say so, it’s was true. While he hoped to build them a temple back on Agra 10, it would surely pale in comparison to this.
