There's been a disappointing amount of actual enemies aboard the ship. It sort of renders stealth mode a bit moot, but despite all, Raphael's stuck to habit and training. The bridge hadn't been difficult to take, although there's just been something bothering him for how easy it's been. Things just aren't adding up, and he's not sure what to make of it.
Add in the strange amount of life that had come up on the ship's scans for the cargo bay, and it just makes things more baffling.
Raphael's headed that way now, the rest of the team more than welcome to tag along- it's too big a ship to be splitting up anyway. There's only one way to get to the bottom of things, and whether it's some giant alien party or a trap, the easiest way to figure it out is to go down there and have a look themselves.
At least the corridors are mostly empty, but there are still some scattered Graq about.
And some point the colors stopped screaming at him.
Jon can't exactly remember when where or why that change had occurred, but it did. Thankfully. A noisy silence had taken over form there, dousing him generously with something that might have been cotton candy. At least it felt about as sticky. A passing whale scared away a family of arachnid file folders and the weight of a ray of sunshine impaled his head for what smelt like a century.
He can't remember the moment everything faded away for good. What Jon remembers instead is feeling terrible. Exhausted and worn down in ways that are the exact opposite of pleasant. It costs some effort to blink a single eye half open and the light that is presented to be part of the world existing on the other side of his eyelids results in an incoherent groan that may well be an attempt at a more elaborate complaint. He has a very vague idea where he is - And that he wants to leave. So the moment the Archivist stirs, is also the moment he tries to roll himself out of the bed that is several times too long for a person of his size.
I'll be honest with you, I feel like I've got even more questions than I started out with when we came here...
The Exo sits across from the beds, pencil in hand as it forms the curving words on the sheet of paper he's propped against his knee. Compared to the chaos that had erupted in the Green Room some time ago, the stillness and timely beeps of equipment in the medical facilities is a jarring contrast, although even the Exo won't say he finds it such a bad thing.
He's been back and forth between here and the Green Room since then, making sure his friends were safe before making sure their fuzzy visitors were secured. He's personally seen to putting away those weapons as well, both habit and out of practicality. Now that he's found a moment, he's decided to do a bit of writing.
Noticing the stirring from the man in the bed, the Exo lifts his head, glancing over at Jon. He's both relieved and perhaps just a little anxious, hoping that the medical treatment has done it's job.
"Welcome back," he greets anyway, returning his pencil to paper.
The Archivist stops any attempts at moving at the sound of Cayde's words - Words that feel way too loud and way too heavy on his skull at the moment, but he still recognizes the Exo's voice and squints in that direction.
For a moment Jon is silent, then sighs a grumbles 'Hm.' before fully forcing one of his eyes open to catch sight of the other. "...Cayde." He manages with a brief delay, then gives up attempting to keep his head up. "...w-wha- what happened...?"
What a loaded question. Still, just hearing his name spoken by the other is enough of a relief.
"You attempted to make contact with the fuzzballs, something happened in between and we found ourselves in the middle of a spitball fight," he says after writing a few more lines. Slowly he gets to his feet, rolling up the paper as he steps over towards Jon's bedside.
"Long story short, we managed to knock them out and get things under control, not without a few problems. Turns out? Aside from being corrosive, their spit induces hallucinations."
He looks down at Jon as he takes up a new position leaning against the wall nearby. "How're you feeling?"
Leaving his head to lie on the mattress, Jon listens to Cayde's words, wincing a few times while refusing to try to nod.
Right. The Graq... The spit... ...the flaming monster.
Hallucinations, Cayde says, and Jon takes a moment to piece that together before making a more physical attempt to push himself into a sitting position. The nausea is real, but Jon refuses to remain lying there.
"Dreadful." He replies with an exhale once he can finally take a look around the room. It's him and Cayde and strange devices he used to know how to operate before switching away from the medical data point. Reminding himself that he has no acceptable reason to feel disappointed at the absence of a certain person, Jon takes a slow breath, then exhales again before looking at the Exo, a certain dread creeping into his voice. "The Graq... D-did you kill them?"
[Wanda scrubs a hand over her face. Honestly, she hasn't been this exhausted in years, since her last proper Avengers mission.]
I talked to the Graq. They don't want to be here any more than we do. It sounds like the same thing that happened to us happened to them.
They live on a nearby planet. We take them home, they stop fighting us.
[A beat, she's already bracing for pushback, but once she understood, there was only one thing to be done.]
I told them we would. It is the right thing to do. They are luckier than we are to be able to just fly home.
We still need to get the Agrii off those ships as quickly as we can. They can't stop the self-destruct. But if you run into any trouble with the Graq, call me. I can try to talk to them.
Oh! Well that makes me feel loads better that I didn't shoot any of 'em. But I kinda got the feeling that they were kind of clueless about things given the way they didn't seem to even know how to use the guns they had.
All right, good to know. Can you ask 'em to help us clear out the Agrii? The more help, the better.
...all right, fair point. Just tell them to line up or something, or fill in their pals so they'll be ready to move. And that it'll go way faster if they're not spitting on us and making us go crazy.
Aaaaand maybe check on the ones we rounded up on the Agrii ship. Things kinda went pear-shaped there so our only option was to knock them out. -no hard feelings?
It's at a hobbling pace at best, but Cayde and Jon eventually do make it to where they'd all first started on this strange mission. Anyone would be hard-pressed to stay put what with all the alarms going off, and although given the state of the latter of the two would probably have been better left in medbay to rest, it's hardly the worst decision of all their questionable ones already made the past couple of days.
"Whatever happened, I swear I didn't touch anything!" the Exo announces once they arrive, still somehow managing to sound his usual perky self despite having gotten shot and nearly melted but a day ago. In afterthought he cheerfully adds, "Also- honey, I'm home!"
It had become increasingly clear that this whole thing could officially be classified a shitshow. Without hide nor hair of Steve or Wanda passing through the shuttle bay where everyone else seemed to be showing up and expecting answers and, ideally, directions, and instead what seemed to be new information by the minute, Tony leaned anxiously with both hands braced on the console and jaw tight as he watched the far too still communication from Cloud's device and tried to organize everything they knew so far on flickering projections darting and scrolling around him. He glanced up hopefully as the doors opened again, but it wasn't an Avenger leader-- "Cayde?" The last time Tony had checked, he had been securely in the med bay, and, "Where's...?" Glancing instinctively to his screens first to check the sensors indicating where everyone was, updating his own calculations around them-- he didn't have to do that anymore, the systems were back online and stable and Tony could keep checking these readings as he jogged away from the console to meet the pair. He stopped short, hands up like he didn't know what to do with them first, gaze darting between them and obviously mapping everything from Jon's pallor to Cayde's newest scorch marks to end up directing at both of them, "What happened to him?," in equal exasperation with the other.
At least Jon doesn't have to argue with Cayde about staying in the medbay to rest. Being forced to do so only would have resulted in an even more restless Archivist and he would have wandered off first chance he saw. Which is now something Cayde successfully managed to prevent.
Upon entering the shuttle bay, Jon's attention is initially drawn towards their own ships - One of which is already missing and it appears a second is getting ready to take off as well? Are they evacuating?
"...what-" He starts muttering, but is interrupted by Tony's appearance, the familiar voice making his heart jump for a split second, only to freeze and nearly choke him upon noticing the seemingly scrutinizing look he finds himself targeted with and the man's tone that feels like an open accusation. It does make Jon glance over to Cayde, however, who appears to be the one Tony is concerned about. Which... Adds up. Especially now that Jon finally notices the fresh scorch marks himself and can't help but wince a little.
"Christ, I- I'm sorry." Is all he gets out as he ducks away to move on past Tony and leave the man to go fuss over the Exo while setting his own goal to find that pile of tools and scrap pieces and sort them back into Tony's belt where they belong. He can be useful- He will be useful!
Cayde offers in turn the most exaggerated shrug that he can while still keeping Jon supported. "I thought I told you!" Maybe not in great detail- a lot of that conversation was a little fuzzy now that he thinks about it, but to be fair, when you have things spitting at you and were under threat of getting melted upon contact, your attention was effectively split.
Absently he reaches out to catch a hold of Jon's collar when the man tries to slip away from them. "He's all better. We treated everyone that got Graq-spit on. This?" He gestures loosely to the darkened side of his armor. "-all cosmetic, nothing terrible. Whatever weapons the Graq were using were thankfully not set to maximum damage."
He waves a hand as though to get past that line of conversation and avoid further questioning. "But more importantly why is everything on the alert and where's my ship." Well not his ship but it's the one he rode in on and has all his stuff. Of course he's going to ask.
En Route to Docking Bay with Cal; It's certainly been eye opening, exactly how much surveillance the Agrii apparently have. Oh, he'd been used to knowing that every breath they take (and every move they make) could be fair game for the Atroma but it's still a shock to see exactly how much recorded footage they had — and the Agrii in turn had obtained. He's less than pleased about it, especially considering that really, this amounts to nothing more than a fancy kidnapping, but apparently the only option right now is gathering as much information as possible and bringing it back to the others. There's far too much here to untangle by himself, and far too few resources.
At least the little robot Cal set with him has been helpful, recording away and probably doing half a dozen other tasks as well. While it seems to understand him he can't really understand its beeps, but they're making it work. Privately, he finds it a better conversational companion than some of the people he's met over the years, which likely says a lot.
Still, there's only so much they can do in the theater-type space and with the knowledge gained therein. After a final sweep of the space to ensure they haven't missed anything — and after viewing that disturbingly empty transmission from Cloud — it seems clear that it's time to leave. Once BD-1 is secure on his back once more, the Soldier sets out to make his way back to the docking bay.
A few moments later it's clear that he's not the only one with that idea, and he hails Cal with a silent wave when the other man comes into view.
Elsewhere; Don't you hate it when people say they're up for almost anything? Well guess what: I'm up for almost anything. The Soldier will be making his way to the docking bay with Cal; from there it's assisting where needed. Likely that super strength will be put to use carrying Assholes Agrii over to the ship, but if the engineering crew needs an extra pair of hands to "hold this" or "tighten that" he's more than willing. Drop a starter here if you have an idea, or if you want me to write a starter hit me up in PM or at sometimesamuse. I will match your preferred tagging format.
There's been so much data to dive into and with only so few in their little impromptu research party, BD-1 had downloaded and copied everything he thought interesting, or anything the Soldier had thought might be good to be reviewed for later. Things had gotten a little strange with the theater, but with help from their friends back with the ships, they'd managed to grab the previously inaccessible mystery episode.
But now there are alarms and things, and if the little droid hadn't been anxious to get back to Cal before, he definitely is a bit now. It seems he's certainly gotten used to hanging onto the Soldier, or perhaps it's the other way around, but either way, he beeps his concern at the flashing alarm light that have been going off as they make their way back to the others. He gives a little bounce and a whistle as the Soldier spies Cal.
Turning, the padawan looks relieved to see the two as he returns the wave and redirects his steps to meet them. "Good to see you two. BeeDee keep out of trouble?" he asks, but the quick smile makes it clear he's teasing on the last. His expression sobers almost immediately. "Guess we can't catch a break. The readings from the ships out there indicate that self-destruct mode's been activated. You heading down to the ships too?"
It's probably lucky for BD that the Soldier has kept his tactical gear in good repair, and defaults to it for things like this. As such there's plenty of purchase to be had in the leather straps and empty gun holsters, and the added weight doesn't bother the Soldier at all. But he's glad to be able to return the little robot to its proper owner, in one piece and carrying everything they were able to gather in data. He helps in handing the little unit over once they're close enough to make the exchange.
"In his defense, we didn't have too much of the fun kind of trouble to run into," he replies with a faint smirk. Actually, aside from that energy pulse that took out his arm for a while, they've encountered precious little trouble. Clearly that means they're well overdue — a due that's just come around for payment, if the alarms are anything at all to go by.
Still, the alarms are almost a relief; this whole thing has gone suspiciously easier than he'd anticipated. Maybe the other teams are encountering more problems or more in resistance, or maybe they're just waiting for The Big One. Either way it seems that Cal has a similar idea in heading back, and the Soldier nods in acknowledgement. "It seems to be where we could make ourselves most useful." Or at least get the best idea of what, exactly, seems to be going on.
Falling into step next to the other man, he focuses on the conversation but nevertheless seems to be constantly watching the corridors for possible ambush or other forms of trouble. Old habits die hard and really, if something were planning to attack this would be the time for it.
The droid hoots happily at Cal as he's handed over, Cal extending an arm for BD-1 to use as a bridge to clamber over his shoulder and to his usual place behind the padawan. "Welcome back, buddy."
Cal nods at the Soldier. The most trouble the rest of their team had come across was a door jam, although whatever had hit their ship later on had definitely given a fair share of problems. "Seems to be," he agrees.
"Tony didn't give much detail about the situation, just requested that we steer the ship closer to the other ships out there," he explains as they continue to walk on towards the docking bay. "But from that strange footage from Cloud's comm, I'm assuming we've got more rescuing to do. Somehow his signal's coming from one of the two ships."
The cockpit was crowded with more than the pilot in it, but this was background noise to watching the incremental approach and circle of the second of the ticking time bombs. For a moment, the vastness of space around them more than made up for it, making this whole crisis seem ludicrously small in the awesomeness of it, or maybe that was just Tony that felt small in opposition, until their vision narrowed to the dark docking bay of the unfamiliar ship.
No one was there to greet them. The armored boots that Tony wore thudded heavily onto the metal floor as he jumped down to investigate, but no one responded to the sound. "Maybe they left," Tony proposed as he approached the doors, which would have been a sensible thing for a crew to do if their ship was about to explode, but so far not much of this had been sensible. There had to be something nearby that would help Tony get is bearings, scan the systems and find the Agrii, but so far he was working his way along a tightly shut door and an unforgivably flat wall. If they were going through here, they were going to make some noise.
He could have made the trip back and forth several times over with his jumpship while they waited to make a single one in their current ride. The Exo tried not to let his anxiousness show, although drumming fingers and staring out the front viewport as though he could will the ship to go any faster were telltale signs enough. This wasn't a poker game, he wasn't trying very hard.
Aboard the supposed enemy ship was even more anticlimactic than when they'd gotten to the Agrii one. "If they left wouldn't we have caught 'em on radar?" Cayde suggested. "If it's the Graq, they got no idea what they're doing. I feel like this is a giant frame job and I'd very much like to shoot whoever's pulling the strings."
He didn't find much interest in anything else around them, not wasting any time either as he headed towards the door that Tony had reached, eyeballing it. "...out of grenades and tapped out of solar," he muttered. "Anyone got a lock pick?" Not that there was any physical lock to do so...
"I can try it with the Force. I cannot guarantee results," Ren warns. Helping is a strange feeling; it's been a long while since he's cooperated with a team for anything. He's always been alone and, later, with Rey because of their strange connection. Even still, this is something completely foreign to him.
He waves his hand across the door and it jiggles a bit, indicating that more power might move it but Ren has a more expedient answer.
"I could just slice it through with my lightsaber but then we no longer have a door. Your choice."
"Wouldn't we have caught Cloud?" Tony pointed out to Cayde. The methods of transport at work here, from the start it should have been noted, were the great mystery. Radar was not going to provide those answers, and Cayde was right, it didn't seem like the Agrii were prepared to, either.
Tony stepped back cautiously as Kylo tugged at the door in that unseen way that Cal seemed to do so effortlessly, not sure what to expect from this power. Far more exciting was the chance to finally see the lightsaber, making him look in surprise to Kylo, about to ask if he knew the kid, but that was at the bottom of the priority list. Lightsaber first. "Don't need a door if the whole ship's blown apart," he said, and waved an arm in welcome.
ABOARD "ENEMY SHIP"
Add in the strange amount of life that had come up on the ship's scans for the cargo bay, and it just makes things more baffling.

He didn't find much interest in anything else around them, not wasting any time either as he headed towards the door that Tony had reached, eyeballing it. "...out of grenades and tapped out of solar," he muttered. "Anyone got a lock pick?" Not that there was any physical lock to do so...
