July catch-all
WHO: Link and you!
WHERE: The diner, various locations
WHAT: Link watches a mountain, and catches up with a few people
WHEN: After Calibrations
WARNINGS: Violence for Wesker's thread
i. Food glorious food [open]
There's a few things Link does right after getting out of Calibrations. Run around in a circle bigger than the waiting room. Climb a building, and then jump off of it. Jump into the lake, just for the hell of it.
But there's two things of real note he does. The first is change from the cozy winter clothes Lark made him into the light, breezy Gerudo Outfit he arrived in. With this much warmer weather, it's a lot more suitable. But it's a much more feminine look than what Link's been wearing before now.
The second thing he does - after doing a little hunting and gathering a few ingredients - is head straight for the diner and start cooking.
He makes fish pie. Apple pie. Meat stew. Sausages and creamy mashed potatoes. Glazed meat and pepper steaks. All the meals he made in the Calibrations dreams - except this time, they're real.
He brings them out into the diner. Sets them all out on a table, for others to share if they would like. Then grabs a bit of everything for his own plate - and settles down to eat with a happy sigh.
ii. Hylian dressup simulator [closed to Lark and Zelda]
Link does, of course, like wearing his Gerudo Outfit. It's nice being pretty, nice to wear shiny things that glitter and jangle musically. It's nice, for when he feels like being a vai.
But Link doesn't always want to be a vai. And he doesn't want to wear the Gerudo Outfit all the time. So he was already planning to ask Lark to make him something else that he can wear in this kind of weather.
And then, Zelda arrived. With only one outfit, and one not suited to this heat at all. And suddenly talking to Lark wasn't just something he should get around to at some point, but something he needed to do right now.
In his usual fashion, Link does not bother to knock on Lark's door. He just arrives with Zelda in tow, opens the door, and walks right in.
iii. Gotta shield them all [closed to Ash]
With this heat, Link decides that later in the afternoon - when the sun's gone down enough to take at least a bit of an edge of the heat - is the best time to start teaching Ash to use a shield.
He brings Ash to dunes just south of Temba. There's space to move - and dunes that they can use later, for shield-surfing.
Once there, he holds out his left arm - once which has the bracer Tony made attached to it. On his back he has a second shield - one made by Dustin - but it's the bracer which Ash will be using.
"Watch," Link tells Ash, as he balls his left hand into a fist. Brings it back up against his chest, in an emphasized flick. A soft hum, and the bracer actives - creating a hard light shield, in the shape of slightly squat oval with a ridge down the centre.
This is what Link wants Ash to learn how to use.
iv. Rocks fall, everybody...does not die? [locked to Wesker]
Link had just been hanging around on the top of a building when he spot the man, just down below. The one from the Calibrations dream, right before they'd been released.
The dream had been more than enough to show Link that this man was dangerous. Not just because he'd immediately moved to kill Link in the dream. Because also because of the memories he'd seen - ones that showed that this man was a killer.
He's right below. Just next to the building Link's on. And there's a few loose pieces of stonework up here.
He grabs one. It's large - bigger than Link's own torso. But not so large that Link can't lift it up, and drop it down below.
Down where it should land right on the man's head.
v. Wildcard!

no subject
He can make a good guess where the man plans to go.
A quick glance around - taking note of the nearest buildings, places where he can paraglide to quickly if need be - and then Link moves silently towards the doorway to the roof, where he knows the stairwell will lead. There, he waits.
And the moment the door opens, he snaps his fingers - releasing all around Link a sphere of crackling electricity. It bursts forth to stun Wesker, along with the brief ghostly visage of a tall, imposing Gerudo.
This, Link immediately follows up with a sharp stab of his stolen piece of rail towards Wesker's abdomen - although before it can connect, it disappears completely. As if it were never there.
no subject
He would not have been able to dodge Link's added physical attack, only even notices it when the metal the younger man is trying to impale him with disappears the very moment Wesker finds himself dropping down onto one knee, snarling angrily at Link.
"You." He growls, eyes flaring up in a positively furious red.
no subject
He's seen what Wesker can do. Seen him murder an older man, been murdered by him in Wesker's Calibrations dream. This isn't an opponent Link can defeat without a weapon.
So instead, right as the static would be about to wear off, he kicks out at Wesker in an attempt to push him down the stairs. And then bolts towards the edge of the rooftop.
no subject
Pushing through the stun has still been strenuous especially with the virus racing and boiling through his veins to force his body into action. Therefore what follows isn't his greatest move and more a furious reflex as he jerks Link towards and past himself without ever standing back up properly and just hurling the younger man's body down those very stairs that Link had aimed to kick Wesker down mere moments earlier.
no subject
Not the first time Link's been flung around like a rag-doll. He'll have a few nasty bruises from this, but nothing he hasn't suffered before.
A quick glance, back towards Wesker. Then he grabs the shield from his back, hops, slides the it under his feet - and shield-surfs it down the stairs. With the anti-grav generators Dustin affixed to the front of the shield, he doesn't so much shield-surf on the stairs as hover just above them - letting him careen down at extreme speeds, as if the stairs were one big slippery slope.
no subject
Though it's not the direct path down the stairs as well he choses. It's him now that darts over to the edge of the roof, the spot where Link must have been waiting for him earlier and he casts his eyes around for the entrance of the building he has used himself. That's where the Hylian is bound to come out from.
So Wesker simply jumps down from a height certain to at the very least break a normal persons legs on impact. And yet despite his body mass, he will land with the elegance of a cat, ready to charge at Link the moment he sets sight on him.
no subject
With an opponent like Wesker, the ground isn’t where Link wants to be. Then Link could be the one having rocks dropped on him.
So instead he exits the stairs a few floors up, running to one of the windows - and then leaping out into the air, gliding towards the next closest building with his paraglider.
no subject
He isn't aiming for Link himself, though, though for the glider the Hylian is using to try and escape. As an expert marksman it's not a difficult aim for him and he fires his weapon with a loud bang, the projectile leaving a soft trail of colorful particle behind as it races to tear through Link's glider.
no subject
Oh, he's definitely surprised just not by his webs. More by the fact he seems to have walked in on something. That something being Wesker aiming a... gun? He glances up to see what he's aiming at and his face pales.
"Oh-! Not good!" Peter voices before he takes off running and then leaps up, grabbing the nearest building. "Oh god, please work." He hisses before firing his webs at the paraglider, once it connects, he yanks back to pull it out of the way from the line of power.
The webs disintegrate after about eight seconds.
"Yeah, that figures." Peter says to himself before using the building as a spring board and then flipping down and land in his classic spider crouch.
"Hey, watch where you're aiming that thing." He demands.
no subject
He really, really likes his paraglider, okay.
But Link never gets the chance to take a bullet for his paraglider, because he's suddenly yanked back in the air. He yelps, and there's a moment where surprise nearly has him collapsing the paraglider. But he holds on for dear life, now willing to let whatever has a hold of his paraglider take it from him.
And then it stops. He regains control. And only now can he look around - and sees Peter on the ground, confronting Wesker.
There's no hesitation. Link is not willing to allow someone else to face this enemy alone. He starts to move towards them.
no subject
Or whatever.
"Stay out of this, Peter!" Wesker snarls in the kid's direction, but his attention doesn't leave the fleeing menace. Fine. He will tear him down with his own hands.
So Wesker moves. Faster than a normal eye can perceive, making it look as if he simply vanished. When he reappears less than a second later, he is in the air, just above and in front of Link, fuming and with one leg raised high to slam a booted heel down hard on the Hylian's shoulder.
no subject
But man, that guy's fast. He'll have to be careful.
"Okay, they don't last long but it's what I've got." He says to himself before firing the web prototype again. This time, he aims for Wesker's boot and since he's up in the air it shouldn't take long to pull him off course. Once again, the webs only last about eight seconds.
At the same time, Pete leaps back up up-grabbing onto the wall and then firing another shot of webs to pull Link further away from danger.
no subject
So as Link and his paraglider are unceremoniously pulled backwards - again - Link lets out a huff of irritation.
Being in the air is meant to be his friend.
Right now though, it's just getting him yanked around. He could use his bow, but - will it disappear? He doesn't know. Maybe just the arrows would - but that still wouldn't get him anywhere. The bow will have to be a last resort.
So he collapses the paraglider. Drops down to the ground, only opening it briefly to slow his fall, before landing on the ground.
Then Link pulls out his shield - as a red, translucent sphere shimmers into existence around him.
no subject
He still lands on the ground in a crouch not too dissimilar to Peter's and not far from Link either. Though the man's attention snaps back to Peter while Link pulls up some sort of energy shield.
"He picked this fight. It's not yours to fight!" He growls and stands back up to full height and pushes his sunglasses back before repeating. "Stay out of this!"
no subject
"Look. I-wait really?" He derails and looks at Link a moment. Wesker really didn't seem like the kind of person to attack out in the open and he really doesn't know Link aside from one singular conversation he's had with the guy.
What would make him want to attack Wesker-oh. He can't keep an eye on both though and that might be a problem.
"Oh no, don't look now but it's the consequences of your own actions." Peter quips, trying to stay between both Link and Wesker so they can't resume trying to kill each other. "I told you this would happen but did you listen? No, you brushed me off because I'm a kid."
no subject
That's Link's job.
"Stay away," Link says softly. This is, as it turns out, the first thing he's ever said in Wesker's presence. Odd that it turns out to be in agreement with Wesker. It seems neither of them desire Peter's involvement. "He's an enemy. He'll hurt you."
no subject
He then turns to Peter. "If you're his accomplice in this, I will take you both down."
no subject
"Yeah, I know. He threatened to kill me if I bothered him again and-" Peter pauses a moment because it might have just hit him that this could be construed as bothering him again. "-Well- YOLO, I guess." He toss his arms up.
"But I'm not gonna allow anyone to kill anyone else if I can help it."
no subject
Link hadn't seen anything from Wesker other than unrestrained violence. Violence which had first been initiated by him, unprovoked. Of course Wesker views Link as an enemy - that had been all too clear from the very start.
Which was what made this situation so dangerous. Link had been attempting to leave - being pragmatic enough to know when to bail on a fight that won't go well for him. But now Peter's here, and Wesker's threatening him too. Which meant leaving wasn't an option, not if Link couldn't find a way to get Peter out alive as well.
no subject
He doesn't take his attention away from Link, but his next words were clearly directed at Peter. "I won't kill him. But I will lock him up because he will try again to go after my life. Get in my way and you two share a cell." Though the way this is dragging out, Wesker isn't sure how long his patience will last.
no subject
"No. Wait. Just- hold on." Peter says, clearly a little exasperated before he does finally turn his attention to Link. If what Wesker says is true then he does have a point and Peter is a big enough person to acknowledge that.
"I gotta say, I agree with him-It was just a dream-I'm sure it wasn't pleasant but the bottom line is that it wasn't real. Even if he's done some hella shady shi-uh.." He glances back over at Wesker. "-Stuff back in his world, until he's done something here that goes beyond threatening people, there's no reason to start a fight. It's not gonna solve anything." He tries to reason.
no subject
Like Peter. How long until Wesker decides to make him a target as well? Impales him with that hand of his? Link can't let that happen.
He glances at Peter, frowning. How can he get the other teenager to leave? Or...maybe he needs to try something else.
Link steps back. Then another step, and another - moving backwards and away from Peter. And as he does so, he watches Wesker closely.
If Link is still the one he's focused on, then perhaps Link could lead him away from Peter.
no subject
"I killed people." He states the obvious and looks back over to Peter. He has no reason to be worried about Link. If he choses to break into a run again, Wesker is well capable to catch him. "I killed those that tried to kill me. Or believed they can use me because of what I am. Your world may celebrate mutants as heroes, but I am used to fully armed idiots like him firing shotguns and grenade launchers into my face until I crush their empty skulls."
no subject
He sucks in a breath and lets out a sigh at Link's reasoning. "Cool motive, still attempted murder." He says flatly. How did he get to be a referee in this? There isn't really anyone else around so now he gets to play mediator. "Just because you don't trust someone, doesn't give you the right to murder."
He turns and makes a face at Wesker for that statement, his head reeling but a little. "Don't try to justify your murder escapade to me. Do you know how many people I've killed? Zero." He holds up his hand to indicate the number to emphasize the point.
"You-Stay." He twists his wrists back and presses the down on his webshooters once he notices Link is slowly trying to flee.
Now Peter's left with a choice. He can either back out and let them handle it themselves or he can actively choose to help Wesker as Peter does understand that attempted murder is a pretty serious offense regardless of the reason.
"Do we even have a functioning prison system?"
no subject
No, this isn't what Link wants. He's trying to keep Peter safe, to draw the danger away. But Wesker wasn't following him, and Peter keeps staying in harms way.
"I'll stay, he's says abruptly, interrupting their discussion. But it's Wesker he's looking at, not Peter. "I'll stay. You let Peter go."
The webbing will soon wear off. But Link doesn't move.
If Wesker kills Link...so be it. As long as no one else gets hurt.
