July catch-all
WHO: Link and you!
WHERE: The diner, various locations
WHAT: Link watches a mountain, and catches up with a few people
WHEN: After Calibrations
WARNINGS: Violence for Wesker's thread
i. Food glorious food [open]
There's a few things Link does right after getting out of Calibrations. Run around in a circle bigger than the waiting room. Climb a building, and then jump off of it. Jump into the lake, just for the hell of it.
But there's two things of real note he does. The first is change from the cozy winter clothes Lark made him into the light, breezy Gerudo Outfit he arrived in. With this much warmer weather, it's a lot more suitable. But it's a much more feminine look than what Link's been wearing before now.
The second thing he does - after doing a little hunting and gathering a few ingredients - is head straight for the diner and start cooking.
He makes fish pie. Apple pie. Meat stew. Sausages and creamy mashed potatoes. Glazed meat and pepper steaks. All the meals he made in the Calibrations dreams - except this time, they're real.
He brings them out into the diner. Sets them all out on a table, for others to share if they would like. Then grabs a bit of everything for his own plate - and settles down to eat with a happy sigh.
ii. Hylian dressup simulator [closed to Lark and Zelda]
Link does, of course, like wearing his Gerudo Outfit. It's nice being pretty, nice to wear shiny things that glitter and jangle musically. It's nice, for when he feels like being a vai.
But Link doesn't always want to be a vai. And he doesn't want to wear the Gerudo Outfit all the time. So he was already planning to ask Lark to make him something else that he can wear in this kind of weather.
And then, Zelda arrived. With only one outfit, and one not suited to this heat at all. And suddenly talking to Lark wasn't just something he should get around to at some point, but something he needed to do right now.
In his usual fashion, Link does not bother to knock on Lark's door. He just arrives with Zelda in tow, opens the door, and walks right in.
iii. Gotta shield them all [closed to Ash]
With this heat, Link decides that later in the afternoon - when the sun's gone down enough to take at least a bit of an edge of the heat - is the best time to start teaching Ash to use a shield.
He brings Ash to dunes just south of Temba. There's space to move - and dunes that they can use later, for shield-surfing.
Once there, he holds out his left arm - once which has the bracer Tony made attached to it. On his back he has a second shield - one made by Dustin - but it's the bracer which Ash will be using.
"Watch," Link tells Ash, as he balls his left hand into a fist. Brings it back up against his chest, in an emphasized flick. A soft hum, and the bracer actives - creating a hard light shield, in the shape of slightly squat oval with a ridge down the centre.
This is what Link wants Ash to learn how to use.
iv. Rocks fall, everybody...does not die? [locked to Wesker]
Link had just been hanging around on the top of a building when he spot the man, just down below. The one from the Calibrations dream, right before they'd been released.
The dream had been more than enough to show Link that this man was dangerous. Not just because he'd immediately moved to kill Link in the dream. Because also because of the memories he'd seen - ones that showed that this man was a killer.
He's right below. Just next to the building Link's on. And there's a few loose pieces of stonework up here.
He grabs one. It's large - bigger than Link's own torso. But not so large that Link can't lift it up, and drop it down below.
Down where it should land right on the man's head.
v. Wildcard!

He's even more surprised to see Link as the only one there at the moment. "Did you make all this?"
It's certainly not what he'd expect from someone who makes frog potions.
no subject
He did make all of this. And he is going to eat so much of it.

"Fnk-oo," he says, the words muffled from a mouth half-full.
Being able to share his cooking with other people wasn't something he got to do that often, back in Hyrule. Usually he only got the chance on occasion, when he was staying at a stable. But here, in Temba, he gets to do this more often.

It's not as simple to answer as you might think. Because there's what Link remembers learning about how to cook...and there's what he doesn't.
"Muscle memory?" he says, eventually. And after he swallows his current bite of food. "And guessing, mostly. Unless someone gave me a recipe."
no subject
Well, it can't all be guesswork. Everything tastes too good.

iii.
He's mostly interested in just taking in the scenery but he gives Link his attention when instructed to watch.
"Whoa..." Ash breaths, impressed by the shield. "Pikachu, check it out!" He tells the yellow Pokemon perched on his shoulder.
"Pika..." He says in awe.
no subject
"Hold like this," he says. "On your left arm, always. Even if left-handed. Left side guards your heart."
These were lessons that Link didn't really remember receiving. But the knowledge was still there, under the surface. Even though he always wanted to use his left hand to write with, he still knew that his sword couldn't go in the same hand. Because the shield always needed to be on the left.
Someone must have taught Link that, a long time ago.
no subject
He lifts his left arm in perfect imitation of Link, holding his forearm level with his own heart. "Like this?"
no subject
"Shield faces the threat." Link shifts, angling the shield to face Ash - as if Ash were his opponent. Then, to help drive the point home, Link starts to circle around Ash - but always keeping the shield facing towards him. As a pokemon trainer, Ash should easily be able to see how this creates an excellent defense.
"They hit the shield, not you."
no subject
"Pikachu?" Pikachu says, his tone sounding almost innocent. He briefly wonders if Pikachu had somehow red his mind.
"...Pikachu wants to know, if you want to battle him as a demonstration." Ash voices since other people have a difficult time understanding him.
no subject
But Link isn't teaching Ash to fight. Just the shield. But still, he considers Pikachu's request - and nods.
This might actually be a good way to show Ash one last technique, after all.
First, though - Link briefly walks off, away from the sand and the water and towards the nearest trees. He looks to the ground, glancing around until he finds...aha! There!
Victorious, he holds up his prize - a stick.
Then he returns to Ash and Pikachu. Before the mouse, he takes a ready stance - Shield held before him, stick held at the ready in his right hand.
There's a sword on Link's back. The one he always carries. But it remains undrawn.

IV
When he notices the large rock and looks up only to find himself faced with what would be impending death for most people, Wesker grimaces and darts away at the last second, only to see the massive rock dissipate before hitting the ground.
"What the-" The man hisses, his tone aggravated and he looks up.
no subject
What?
What happened to the rock?
Link frowns. It’s one thing if the rock had missed, but disappearing altogether is something else.
Link is not a scientist. But he knows a few. He’s been around them enough to know that when something doesn’t make sense, you should repeat the experiment.
So Wesker will soon see a pair of hands reaching out, and dropping another rock off the top of the building.
Once again, it’s aimed to land right on top of his head.
no subject
Swallong a curse, Wesker turns his attention to the source of that rock before calling up, challenging. "You missed!"
no subject
Was it because Wesker dodged too quickly this time? Or something else?
Link huffs, softly. The man is far too fast to hit with a thrown projectile when he knows it's coming; he's simply too fast. Link would have to catch him unaware, and the element of surprise is already lost.
He glances around the roof. There's a few broken pieces of metal railing up here as well. Link grabs one before shifting back to the edge of the roof, keeping himself low and out of sight as best as possible. He makes sure can still keep an eye on Wesker. And then he...waits.
And waits.
Will the man walk away? Or turn, giving Link an opening?
no subject
No. He enters the building and makes his way up the stairs and up to the roof to conftont this particular fool, of course. Needless to say, he is also fast when scaling buildings angrily.
no subject
He can make a good guess where the man plans to go.
A quick glance around - taking note of the nearest buildings, places where he can paraglide to quickly if need be - and then Link moves silently towards the doorway to the roof, where he knows the stairwell will lead. There, he waits.
And the moment the door opens, he snaps his fingers - releasing all around Link a sphere of crackling electricity. It bursts forth to stun Wesker, along with the brief ghostly visage of a tall, imposing Gerudo.
This, Link immediately follows up with a sharp stab of his stolen piece of rail towards Wesker's abdomen - although before it can connect, it disappears completely. As if it were never there.

So the woman has plenty of time to rise to her feet and greet her guest. That it was Link didn't shock her. But the young woman training after him earned a look of pleased shock.
"What do I owe the honor of the visit today my young friend?"
no subject
She follows Link into the room, now wearing the Gerudo top Link was wearing earlier. She knows Link isn't one for words so she steps up beside him.
"Please forgive the intrusion. Link said you were the person to come to if someone is need of clothes." She explains.
no subject
But to Lark, he nods along in agreement with Zelda.
“Zelda and me need more cool clothes,” he explains.
no subject
"I don't mind seeing to some new clothing for you both. It is my pleasure you meet you, Miss Zelda. I'm Lark. I suppose you will both be looking for something lighter for the summer. I can offer some Spider-silk. It's more breathable and cool than normal silk."
no subject
"Spider-silk? How fascinating." She doubts of anyone in Hyrule would have thought to use such a thing for clothes.
no subject
And speaking of dogs, he’s also going to give Little Bear as scratch behind the ears. Because he knows the not-so-little dog will definitely be wanting that.
