July catch-all

WHO: Link and you!
WHERE: The diner, various locations
WHAT: Link watches a mountain, and catches up with a few people
WHEN: After Calibrations
WARNINGS: Violence for Wesker's thread

i. Food glorious food [open]

There's a few things Link does right after getting out of Calibrations. Run around in a circle bigger than the waiting room. Climb a building, and then jump off of it. Jump into the lake, just for the hell of it.

But there's two things of real note he does. The first is change from the cozy winter clothes Lark made him into the light, breezy Gerudo Outfit he arrived in. With this much warmer weather, it's a lot more suitable. But it's a much more feminine look than what Link's been wearing before now.

The second thing he does - after doing a little hunting and gathering a few ingredients - is head straight for the diner and start cooking.

He makes fish pie. Apple pie. Meat stew. Sausages and creamy mashed potatoes. Glazed meat and pepper steaks. All the meals he made in the Calibrations dreams - except this time, they're real.

He brings them out into the diner. Sets them all out on a table, for others to share if they would like. Then grabs a bit of everything for his own plate - and settles down to eat with a happy sigh.

ii. Hylian dressup simulator [closed to Lark and Zelda]

Link does, of course, like wearing his Gerudo Outfit. It's nice being pretty, nice to wear shiny things that glitter and jangle musically. It's nice, for when he feels like being a vai.

But Link doesn't always want to be a vai. And he doesn't want to wear the Gerudo Outfit all the time. So he was already planning to ask Lark to make him something else that he can wear in this kind of weather.

And then, Zelda arrived. With only one outfit, and one not suited to this heat at all. And suddenly talking to Lark wasn't just something he should get around to at some point, but something he needed to do right now.

In his usual fashion, Link does not bother to knock on Lark's door. He just arrives with Zelda in tow, opens the door, and walks right in.

iii. Gotta shield them all [closed to Ash]

With this heat, Link decides that later in the afternoon - when the sun's gone down enough to take at least a bit of an edge of the heat - is the best time to start teaching Ash to use a shield.

He brings Ash to dunes just south of Temba. There's space to move - and dunes that they can use later, for shield-surfing.

Once there, he holds out his left arm - once which has the bracer Tony made attached to it. On his back he has a second shield - one made by Dustin - but it's the bracer which Ash will be using.

"Watch," Link tells Ash, as he balls his left hand into a fist. Brings it back up against his chest, in an emphasized flick. A soft hum, and the bracer actives - creating a hard light shield, in the shape of slightly squat oval with a ridge down the centre.

This is what Link wants Ash to learn how to use.

iv. Rocks fall, everybody...does not die? [locked to Wesker]

Link had just been hanging around on the top of a building when he spot the man, just down below. The one from the Calibrations dream, right before they'd been released.

The dream had been more than enough to show Link that this man was dangerous. Not just because he'd immediately moved to kill Link in the dream. Because also because of the memories he'd seen - ones that showed that this man was a killer.

He's right below. Just next to the building Link's on. And there's a few loose pieces of stonework up here.

He grabs one. It's large - bigger than Link's own torso. But not so large that Link can't lift it up, and drop it down below.

Down where it should land right on the man's head.

v. Wildcard!

While Peter complaints, Wesker takes a page out of Link's book and refuses to answer any further. As far as he's concerned, this conversation is over and there isn't any point in continuing it. The only thing Wesker feels he is achieving at this point is a headache and a reminder of why he despises dealing with people. It's much easier if he can simply kill whoever disagrees with him.

When he reaches Link, the older man raises a gloved hand to take a hold of the Hylians upper arm and guide him along, fully prepared for Link to either pull away or outright resist him.

Something about this doesn't feel right and he's unable to say if it's the spider-sense or just something that's not adding up.

"But wait." Peter speaks up. "Doesn't you being Victim, Officer, Judge, and Jury create a major conflict of interest? Besides, you attacked him too, if was fleeing and you attacked that's assault-not self defense so as far as I'm concerned your both guilty." Peter says firmly, still standing watch.

"And something about this doesn't sit right with me. I think we need another opinion."

Haven't they been over this already? That there is no way to establish a juristic system in this place given the small amount of constantly changing people existing here? They have bigger issues to deal with than playing court among their own.

But this is the hubris everyone wastes their time on apparently.

Wesker may stop, but the way his grip around Links arm tightens is a clear sign that he is nearing the end of his patience. He has to let go before he snaps the Hylians bone.

He doesn't turn back to Peter, though. "Do you even listen to yourself?" He states instead, forcing himself to remain calm. "According to your logic, if you get hit by a hit and run and chase down the fleeing car before it can escape, you are the guilty person. By your logic, if a pickpocket steals an eldery lady's purse and you pursue the fleeing thief to stop him, you are guilty for assaulting that man." Now he turns around just enough to look at Peter. "I worked with the police and still hold the rank of Captain. Had what happened here happened back on Earth, you would get arrested for interfering with and hindering police work."

Now before Peter can argue, he goes on. "That doesn't make me the police here, of course. It's not a task I am interested in. Yet I still have the experience, knowledge and training." And unlike ranks and titles, those things actually hold value.

Peter has the audacity to roll his eyes as his own patience it waning though he's far less likely to get violent. The signs of violence in Wesker are just another reason this doesn't feel right.

"First of all, if I got arrested for interfering with police brutality or because I thought you were making a wrongful arrest? I wouldn't really care. I'm the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, I fight for the little guy not the establishment. Second of all - Yeah, If I tried hurt those people, I would also be guilty." He says firmly, watching Wesker's every move just incase.

"But since we're obviously forcing Earth's laws into things- even though this isn't Earth- what about bail? I know there's no money here but there has to be something I can do since you're so desperate to impose Earth's laws on someone that I'm betting is not from earth."

The one move Wesker makes is to raise up his hand, shove his thumb and index finger under his glasses and pinch the bridge of his nose in frustration. "Way to show that you weren't listening this entire time at all." And that's that. Wesker is done with Peter's juvenile nonsense.

He then turns back to Link, regarding the young man for a moment before letting out a sigh. "I guess." He says, not really answering the question but acception the interpretation. Wesker then instructs: "Keep your eyes and mouth closed."

Then he moves fast again. First he seems to disappear again, then reappears on Link's other side half a second later both are gone. This time he is prepared to dodge any webs fired his way in hopes to prevent this departure that is aimed to take both Wesker and Link to the city center.

"I was listening." Peter says exasperatedly. "You were the one that said you wanted to arrest-Oh, okay." Peter huffs when Wesker just vanishes. He probably should have expected that.

He growls to himself and tries to discern which direction Wesker would have taken Link but they're long gone now. He'll just have to hope he can catch back up with him later and make sure Wesker doesn't try to kill him again as Peter is about 98% certain that was the goal when the man was aiming to take the paraglider out.

Of course Link ignores any safety instructions given to him. Most of the idiots in this city would and Wesker isn't even surprised. Yet it's these people that cry the loudest should an insect or a speckle of dust slam into their eyeballs at high speed. Of course there are ways to grow new eyeballs, but in Wesker's experience those tend to grow in places one doesn't necessarily need them. He had seen the remains of Birkin...

The trip overall takes less than three seconds and ends not in the prison but in one of the new offices Billy and Wesker set up several months ago. It's nowhere near the lab of course. More the area Dr. Takemi and her patients frequent but it will do. Link is dropped off in a chair to keep him from simply falling over and allow his body to catch up.

The chair is located in front of a simple desk. When overhauling the hospital they were going for functional rather than fancy. Wesker remains standing, half leaning against that desk and crossing his arms lightly while his attention settles on the Hylian. "Now we can talk without someone arguing in circles." He states, then adds a question. "You aren't very concerned about safety when it comes to your actions, are you?"

Wesker didn't just try, he would have succeeded to shoot down Link's paraglider. And he is well capable to catch someone falling afterwards. Yes, he has a temper and is easily aggravated, but surprisingly enough he isn't entirely irresponsible. He's still a perfectionist and takes his tasks seriously. And he expects others to do the same. Though very few can meet those high standards Wesker sets in order to earn his approval. Back on Earth that would simply result in their death. But that solution unfortunately isn't as much of an option here as Wesker wished it would be.

He takes Links nonverbal response and simply nods. "Naturally." Just another reckless teenager believing himself immortal.

"What about the health and safety of others?"

"So you don't care." Wesker translates, clearly disapproving. Not that Wesker necessarily cares himself, but he is familiar with social norms and has spent years to learn how to pretent they matter.

"You already made it obvious that your usual way of dealing with someone you have labeled your enemy is to murder them, which has me assume that is standard procedure where you are from." Which obviously isn't Earth. "Is that true? Does everyone do that in your world?" Just casual murder behind every door as an accepted part of every day life.

"This isn't about me." Wesker returns factually. He wasn't the one trying to murder someone from their little group over a dream encounter.

"But what I want is to figure out why exactly we are all here and how to get back. But to achieve that it's not helpful if we fight one another for reasons that are irrelevant here. Neither is it helpful to hurt one of our group. Be it purposely, by accident or as the result of someone being reckless. Is that so difficult to understand?"

Of course Wesker is primarily acting in his own interest. Who else in this place could possibly hold any importance to him?

Whatever Link may or may not have offered earlier has been lost to that spider boy's excessive need to argue everything in circles while slowly dissolving Wesker's patience.

"Simply put, yes. We were all brought here for a common goal. And I plan to achieve that goal and be finished with this place."

In Wesker's eyes Link remains the maniac that wields too many strong weapons along with deadly magic. A young man that makes unreasonable decisions and can easily be dangerous especially to the unsuspecting around himself.

"I reserve the right to defend myself." Wesker points out. He is not going to have an act of self defense be twisted into harming anyone again.
