WHO: Link and you!
WHERE: The Hangar, the Hotel, and various places across Temba
WHAT: Link searches for scientists, looks at ships, and moves into a new home
WHEN: After Link's arrival & the blizzard event
WARNINGS: None expected

The new ponty-eared arrival in Temba isn't exactly looking like a style icon as he runs around Temba, wearing the slightly oversized sweatshirt and pants that Gladio gave him. In deference to the cold, on top of that he's also tied an old ratty blanket around his neck, as if it were a cloak.

And of course, on top of that, there is the Master Sword, slung on his back.

But Link certainly doesn't let the fact that he arrived wholly unprepared for the winter cold stop him from exploring this new location.

I. Searching for quest-givers scientists
So, Link is here. He knows he's here because the Agrii want heroes to help save them from the storms. He knows, at this point, absolutely nothing about said storms, or how to stop them.

But Gladio mentioned 'smart science types'. People like Purah, or Robbie. People who might have the knowledge and intelligence to figure out what's going on. If Link's going to figure out how he's going to help...they seem like a good place to start.

So he goes looking. Maybe he manages to track someone down by name. Maybe he finds a place that looks suitably...sciency, and just figures that whoever is in there is probably a scientist. Or knows where to find one.

Either way, wherever they are, Link will find them. And then just kind of look at them, with an odd, intense yet strangely blank-faced expression.

"...Hi," he says, still staring.

II. Hangar & the ships
The ships Link found partly while looking for scientists, partly while just exploring.

When he first sees them, he just...stares. He has no frame of reference for what these massive things are. But he can't help but be reminded - at least in some way - of the Divine Beasts. But while the Divine Beasts were similarly colossal in scale, they weren't spread out across Hyrule. Not all clustered together, in one place.

Link definitely wants to see what's inside these.

Though it takes a while, before he can get into one. The first few he tries, for whatever reason, he just...can't get in. But then he comes to the one that looks a bit scrappy - the Bloodsport - and the door just opens at a touch.

He peers in. What will he find in here?

III. The hotel
In the days and weeks after Link moves into one of the Hotel rooms, a few themes will soon emerge to anyone who pays attention.

Firstly, Link clearly pays absolutely no attention to any kind of schedule; he is just as likely to leave or arrive in the middle of the night, as he is any time during the day. Though he doesn't spend all that much time in the room itself, usually spending his time elsewhere.

Secondly, he keeps bringing back things. A armfull of baconrooms. Several bunches of Chicken Daisies. Pieces of wood. Rocks. Assorted debris. Even a few small lizards, one time. Although Link soon learned - to his disappointment - that lizards don't always stay where you put them.

He also has a habit of not always taking the stairs. There's a perfectly good window, after all. Why walk down, when you can climb?

Could she? The look of surprise and then briefly of pleasure on her face is not to be denied. Lark offered him a nod at that.

"I've an abundance of wool at the moment, that should do well for this weather. Once we deliver this wood of yours, might I borrow you briefly for some quick measurements? I fear I haven't much dyed right now, but I have some workable soft oranges at the moment."

They could talk about what the magic on the cloth should be after. It's possible she will not be able to give him quite what he wants, but clothing that is extra durable, warm, and perhaps resists staining will help to start with.

"I'd offer spidersilk garments, but I'm dreadfully low on material. And of course I can't have the seeds from Eorzea planted until spring..."

Actually, if he's truly excited, she did have a few bolts left from Eorzea. Maybe that green she had gotten to make another poncho for Bruno...

Well now wasn't he a spirited young man? She chuckled under her breath, thinking fondly of Briar being told he could work in Rosethorn's garden that day, and bit her lip to stop her chuckles.

"If you're that eager, then when you're ready I'll not only tell you where to go for it, but how it needs gathered. I believe I still have a pot of the salve Moonshade and I brewed to keep the spiders off of you. They are fascinating creatures, and without them we would have no silk, so we used the salve to keep them from attacking and anyone getting hurt. It works out well enough for us both. We get some of their silk, and they can string new webs to catch new food for them."

Oh, and there would of course need to be an offering of giant spider appropriate food as thanks, because that was only fair.

"I would fetch it myself but I'm quite busy with what work I must do."

Plus the webbing seemed as excitable as wool sometimes, and Lark worried if it reacted too eagerly to her magic it would tear down all the webs of the spiders and that would be horrible. So she would not go herself.

"Moonshade was a friend, an elf of considerable hunting skill and knowledge," she says.

What she doesn't say is 'like you', because it's very clear to her that this young man and the woman she had known were not the same people. His ears were so much smaller, and his eyes not nearly as large. He didn't even have the same sorts of facial features as Lerith, who was a whole other sort of elf.

"But the balm, I can teach you that. I have it written down, seeing as I don't have the agricultural datapoint."

It became so much harder to remember things from the datapoints otherwise. And this one she had lots of trouble with. It's almost as if the knowledge was hard to hold onto, without someone with the datapoint to guide her in using it. How frustrating.

"Of course," she says as she follows him to the room. This is far higher than she normally goes, to a point where she has to wonder if the surviving stairs even go much further than this.

"Yes. There are a number of those things through the city, and they give us skills."

And that's about as much explanation as he's going to get because Lark needs to boggle at this all.

"Your storage room?"

Enchanted pack? She looks around, her eyes widening. This is so much.

"And all of this could fit in one pack?"

That defied all laws of magic and physics she knew. It was mind blowing. Magic to even a magic user.

Little Bear meanwhile was considering Link and whether or not to allow him to take the piece of wood. With the other approaching the dog decides this clearly an attempt to play, and he dances back a few steps, bouncing in a little play bow, letting Link know he's not being serious.

Lark was a mage of great power and skill, and even she could do no similar thing to the feat he was talking of. She doubted even Sandry in the height of the circle fueled power could have done the like.

"Oh my, that's quite a bit. I'm sorry to say I cannot provide such a thing."

She isn't paying attention to Little Bear and Link, still trying to process what sort of magic could do such a thing. This meant Little Bear felt free to frolic. And when Link grabbed the wood, Little Bear set his feet and tried to tug it away.

Yes, that is correct, so far as she knew. She finally turns back to Link and sees him and Little Bear fighting over the wood.

"Little Bear, drop it."

And with the word given, he releases the wood. That's just how it was.

"Forgive me, he's eager to play."

Yes, that's a true statement, and she smiles.

"Indeed he is. My children found and raised him, and now he is mine to care for. And not many people here play with him."

No, one couldn't ride a dog, but they were still good animals.

"He would appreciate that. But don't feel obligated. I'm thinking I will see if he will take to training as a herding animals."

It would help with the glownies.

"We'll have to go to my room. I carry some supplies on me, but not enough to measure you for a full set of clothing. And I want you to touch the fabrics I'm going to use. It's possible you may have a reaction to one or the other, and it's better to know before we put you in them."

It would be horrid to make him a full outfit only to then find he's allergic to glownie wool.

"I'm down on the second floor," she says, moving slowly back out of the room. TIme to go downstairs.

For now Lark had taken him into her work room, where there are shelves with bolts of cloth, large spindles of different sorts of thread, and plenty of baskets of fibers to be spun. All around there are other tools of her trade as well, tidied away in neat areas because she needed things to be neat. Sadly she was lacking a proper, full sized loom.

For now she went to the work table and took up her knotted measuring rope, and moved to Link, even as she considers things.

"Hold your arms out to your sides so I can do this."
