[As the video starts, Lark is clearly seated by a warm fire, the communicator pointed toward her, and her hands are busy with what is clearly a pair of knitting needles. She looks insanely comfortable doing this, even with the head of her dog in her lap, just barely on screen.]

Good afternoon all. I was hoping to request some assistance in assisting you. I'm trying to make mittens to help keep us warm when outside this winter. But I need hand sizes. Anyone who would like a pair is welcome to come visit me in the hotel so I can take measurements.

[Then she smiles, shaking her head. Chances were people might find that weird, but she moves on.]

Where I'm from, it's very common to work on projects like this in the winter, and it makes me feel at home to do such things. So I would like to do this, not only to pass the time, but to help you all keep your fingers warm and comfortable this winter.

Yeah, it's harder to come by here. I wonder if someday things will be different.

[He had hoped that maybe eventually they would restore this place, but after several conversations with people he wondered if that was really an obtainable goal.]

It would be nice, but I believe it would mean needing more people here. Though I did stock up on quite a bit in Eorzea. It helps me provide even now.

Probably, but if we're just going in circles and not completing the goal, what's even the point of being here?

I wish I'd been around for that trip. It sounds like it was nice.

[What was the point? Lark sighed.]

I suppose the point is to find the why. This place it is a mystery, and there are so many ‘why’s that we do not know.

[crystalmaster]

Yeah. But can we find the why? There never seem to be any really helpful answers.

[He sighed too.]

Not having found answers does not mean that answers are unfindable. It is the nature of nature itself to be able to be understood.

[crystalmaster]

Hmm. Well, let's hope it is in this case. What people have told me is that it seems like there's actual beings behind our troubles, instead of it just being nature. But who knows, right?

[stitch_witch]

Even beings can present mysteries. In fact, they can present still more than humans, because they intend that.

[crystalmaster]

[Radley laughs dryly.]

You are so right. Somebody I knew back home, he was a walking mystery. I still haven't figured him out. He seemed like he was indifferent to everything and everybody. I think he hated me, though.

[stitch_witch]

Why do you think he hates you if he was indifference to everyone?

[crystalmaster]

[Radley sighs.]

I kept trying to reach out to him and he'd always say something cold and storm off. Maybe he blamed me for what was going wrong in town when me and my rival were fighting over it. But if he did, he was a hypocrite since he chose to work for me.

Ironic that in the end, he was the one who saved the town. I wanted to, but ... in the end, I just wasn't good enough.

We’re you responsible for what was going wrong? Or did he just perceive you as such?

[crystalmaster]

That's a tough question to answer. Did I make things worse by fighting my rival instead of just letting him have the town? When he got control of it, he made it even worse than when we'd been fighting for it. I try to think I was doing all I could, but so many people suffered because of him.

Ah. That is a complicated thing. I am sorry for the suffering that came to be.

[crystalmaster]

Yeah.

[Radley sighs.]

I'll probably always wonder if I could have done things differently, even though wondering doesn't do any good.

[stitch_witch]

[That is a common enough thing to suffer, the doubt of what you could have changed in the past.]

No, it does not. The Circle teaches that the best way to make up for the pain caused in the past is to bring relief in the future.

Yeah. That's what I was trying to do before I ended up here. I was rebuilding the town.... They wanted me to be the mayor.

[stitch_witch]

Mayor? That is quite the responsibility for one so young.

[crystalmaster]

I'm 25, but I feel a lot older sometimes. It's a small mining town, kind of like the Old West in modern times. There aren't as many hoops to go through there as there'd be in a bigger place.

[stitch_witch]

I’m not sure if I understand the context of ‘old west’. I fear the west in my world would be quite different from yours after all.

What would be a ‘hoop’?

[crystalmaster]

Ah. Hmm. It's like ... old wooden buildings, dirt roads, that kinda thing, instead of more modern stuff like paved roads. The town hearse is even still an old carriage instead of a car. We have cars too, though, and motorcycles. Those are engine-powered vehicles.

[Radley rubs the back of his neck.]

That's just an expression. I meant that it's not so hard to get a position of power in a small place like that. In the Old West, people would often just give the jobs to whoever they felt fit them best.

Engine powered? What does that mean?

[crystalmaster]

Have you been on the spaceships? They use engines to run.

[stitch_witch]

I was on them for a trip. And I didn't know how they worked.
