Party at the Blue Bantha!

WHO: Everyone!
WHERE: The Blue Bantha in Coruscant's entertainment district
WHAT: A party!
WHEN: The last day before they leave.
WARNINGS: Fun times? Probably drunkenness.

After having found this place on an outing with Echo, Obi-Wan had decided he rather liked this one particular establishment they stopped at. So for their last evening on Coruscant, the Jedi had the place rented out. A network post also going up inviting everyone for one last hurrah before they have to go back to Temba.

Welcome to the Blue Bantha Bar and Grill!

Everything is very blue. A bright blue neon sign advertises the joint in the entertainment district. Its letters in Aurebesh with a little bantha head shaped neon light next to it as well. The lighting inside is distinctly blue as well. There is a mounted bantha head placed on the far wall above the bar, its fur having been dyed blue. Clearly it is the mascot of this place.

There are tables and booths in varying locations for people to sit. With the tables having bantha hide rugs under them that look reminiscent of shag carpet, while the booth seats have bantha hide upholstery as well. There's a band playing in one corner with space for people to dance. While on another side there are screens broadcasting sporting events from across the galaxy. Feel free to place bets on who you think will win!

Even the staff are either blue, or are wearing blue. It won't be uncommon to have a blue scantily clad Twi'lek waitress serving you. The long bar also has blue neon lighting with several stools to sit at, in which you can order whatever drink your heart desires on their menu.

Speaking of the menu, everything is made with bantha products. That is what they specialize in. Several types of Jawa Juice, a kind of beer made from fermented grains mashed in bantha hides, can be found here. As well as Bantha Blood Fizz, a sparkling drink made from purified bantha blood in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties. And of course they serve several drinks featuring blue milk, from just the plain stuff to several alcoholic concoctions. There is also food of course! Bantha steak, bantha burgers, bantha stew, and other meat dishes are served as it's pretty much this galaxy's equivalent of beef. You can even get desserts made from blue milk such as cheesecake and ice cream.

Have fun! The Temba group have this establishment all to themselves for the night!

((OOC: This is a mingle log so go nuts!))

Her taking time to put things away inevitably brought the Exo to droop exaggeratedly, but he was quick to straighten up with a hop. "Ain't no gunsmith as good as Banshee within several parsecs of here." Beat. "That's part of the lingo around here," he explained, clearly having no idea what all's out that far despite having a vague idea of what a parsec even is, but he still stood by his opinion.

"Anyway, hope you like energy weapons. That's the most common stock. Buuut I've scouted out a few dealers down below. Oh wait, wait- I gotta go get- Hang on."

The Exo darted off towards another ship, presumably the one he'd been assigned to. Sundance lingered behind, watching her Guardian go off.

"A parsec amounts to about 3.26 light-years, or about 19.2 trillion miles/30.9 trillion kilometers," Ophiuchus offered. "I scanned it at the Jedi temple."

Where the ghost had downloaded as much data as possible from the archives. They hadn't gotten to the closed off section but the temptation was still there. She hoped to go back before they left this planet.

While she waited for Cayde Ikora folded her arms behind her back watching him go with a fond little smile. She didn't like that Sundance stayed behind but she could protect the ghost. Nothing would happen to her while Ikora was there.

"Of course you did," Sundance said quietly.

She didn't seem particularly concerned about joining Cayde for his jaunt back to the Starduck. Knowing his intent and that it wouldn't be long, she simply waited. And sure enough, the Exo came bounding back, a helmet tucked under his arm. He held it up for Ikora's inspection once he reached them.

"I'm so handsome I make their droids jealous so they won't let me do business without something to cover up," he said by way of explanation, giving a shrug.

[personal profile] cannot_flinch 2021-04-05 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
Ikora took a moment to study the helmet. It looked like something a Warlock would wear back home, very reflective and round. It didn't suit Cayde at all.

"I believe we read something of a philosophical debate about droids," Ikora said when she was done with her examination. "They gave them just enough sentience to be useful but not enough to demand rights."

Exos were just as complicated in their early days but she saw them as human because that was the truth behind them. "Show me this gun show you like."
deal_me_in: (Don't know don't care)

It wasn't a design Cayde was crazy about either, but there were only so many sorts and the main objective had been to contain the horn on his forehead. For that, it did the job.

"Oh yeah. They've got personalities but they're expected to do what they're asked and not much else. And if they don't then they put these little things called restraining bolts on 'em. Okay, I'm putting this on- don't laugh."

He slipped the helmet over his head, making sure it was snug in place before holding his hands out. Ta-daaa. "It's awful, I know. Let's just get going," he said, gesturing then to Sundance for her to decompile. Having her out in more private areas was fine, but there was way too much going on out in the city.

Ikora didn't laugh but she did cover her mouth with a hand for a moment hiding her grin which was entirely too fond and too amused.

He looked ridiculous in the helmet. Completely out of character. A helmet didn't suit Cayde.

She inclined her head towards Ophiuchus who also vanished a second later. They had traveled together through the city and gotten many strange looks. It seemed smarter to hide him for now.

"I hope we're not going to traverse this city in your usual style."
deal_me_in: (If I don't see you out there...)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-04-05 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
The Exo pointed at her despite the hidden grin. You couldn't hide the eyes!

Already starting back towards the hangar entrance, Cayde turned to walk backwards as he looked back at Ikora, hands held out. "What, I thought you Warlocks liked floating across chasms and bottomless drops."

He spun around again, his tattered cloak like a worn banner fluttering after him. "I'll grab us a cab. There are not many decent places to hop down from and to, otherwise."

[personal profile] cannot_flinch 2021-04-05 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
And she didn't want to. It was good to laugh with Cayde again. His gentle teasing and sense of humor were missed in the Tower.

"I prefer to Blink instead of glide." And that sort of Light manipulation drained her. She hoped whatever planet they were on next it wasn't so severe. The presence of the Light was so distant and yet warm in her chest.

She followed behind him at a more respectful pace. "How much have you explored?" she asked when she caught up to Cayde.

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-04-05 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Honestly, there's so much of anything that I haven't gone more than several towers over in any given direction. It just keeps going down! And this planet is all city, I think it'd take years to actually cover any considerable ground."

It didn't much appeal to Cayde, to explore a cityscape for that long. While cities could hold some interesting places and sights, it was much of the same thing, not too mention too busy and crowded. It wasn't that he didn't like that buzz of life, especially after being in an empty place for so long, but the Exo still preferred the wide open spaces and the vast unknown.

"Won't go too far down- best places are about mid-level for general sightseeing. But of course the blackmarket's where you find the better weapons, and that's some ways just below."

[personal profile] cannot_flinch 2021-04-05 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Ikora could imagine her Hidden trying to explore this place and never finding all its secrets. The city wouldn't hold too much appeal to anyone but Titans. They'd have something to defend.

If this was a planet of city ruins? It would be a playground for Cayde, she imagined. Empty and wild and full of endless twists and turns to discover. He would be long gone if that was the case.

"I've been rather low in the city," she commented with a tilt of her head in his direction. "The fighting pits are low."

But perhaps not as low as he meant.
deal_me_in: (I got this!)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-04-05 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Ruins had less people getting mad at you for poking around, that was to be sure. It was free reign and finders-keepers all around. Maybe if he went deep enough down, sure there'd have to be some levels long forgotten, but the problem was there was just so much of it that there wasn't much idea of where to start, and that would easily have taken more than the time they'd been alotted here to explore.

The gleeful chortle that came from him did not match up with the helmet he wore. "And you say I go looking for trouble!" Getting himself stolen was completely by accident, but he'd never found his way into a fighting pit. From what he'd heard and figured would happen given his appearance, he'd rather not be pitted against some poor unsuspecting droids.

Once they were out by the taxi landing pad he waved at the droid directing the services. "Hey there m'good man, taking a jaunt down to platform ...E-twenty-three."

The droid seemed to stare at him for a long moment before replying, "Oh- it's you again. Yes, one moment please." The two Guardians were pointed over to an awaiting vehicle in no time. Cayde didn't expect much of an adventure for a weapons-run but who knew when they'd be due back to Temba? And anyway, when was the last time he'd ever gone window shopping with Ikora?

"I see you've made friends."

Even the locals remembered Cayde. Not always fondly but he had made an impression on those around this hangar. Maybe it was especially memorable for a droid who was advanced but not the same as an Exo. Ikora could spot the differences.

She thanked the droid before she got into the cab and settled in. She did wish she could fly this herself. Ikora had never liked trusting other pilots. Only Hawthrone had earned her trust in that capacity.

"Has your Ghost been able to store the weapons you've bought?" she asked, voice pitched a little lower for some privacy. Could they also, say, store a ship to take back? She hadn't tried for herself.

"Can't help getting to know some guys, 'specially when you're in and out on a daily basis and they're one of the first ones you see and among the last when you get back," Cayde said as they got themselves situated. "Told him a few stories- his job doesn't let him get around much but our hotel's practically privately reserved for the time being, which leaves him with a lot of downtime and nothin' to do. Heh, he thinks I'm some kinda bounty hunter. ...which I guess isn't too off."

In contrast to Ikora, Cayde looked like he was very close to just propping his feet up and kicking back for the ride. It wouldn't be very surprising to find out that he'd probably done so a few times before the pilot complained about him scuffing up the speeder.

"Ooh, that'd be a negative. No transmat relay," he replied. If he had the ability to store weapons that easily then he would have been tempted to bring a lot more than he had. "Was hoping Stark would be able to cobble something together when we gave him some specs, but I think it'll still be more limited than what we're used to working with. So we're stuck doing things the old fashioned way." He chuckled. "Oh the looks we got when Echo and I came back with a bandolier of detonators and a couple of blasters each."

"Hm." It reminded her of the bots from home. The ones that swept the tower and did other menial tasks. Of course, they didn't send them to be bounty hunters. They left that to Guardians and other agents. "I'm glad you've found something to keep you busy while you're here."

Ikora would probably spend the remaining days here in the Temple Archives and finding what knowledge she could. She had left some behind as well, warning of the Darkness and the Hive. She might consider warning of the Fallen and Cabal as well but she didn't think they had inter dimensional travel like the Hive.

"I did have hopes." But the answer was what she expected. Perhaps she could work with this Stark to get one set up. She roughly understood how they worked and Ophuichus could explain it better than her. "We should check in with him on that project. It would be useful to have even just a simple one."

Ikora hadn't met this Echo yet. She hadn't met many. "Only a single bandolier. Very restrained of you."

Of course he had to keep himself busy. There were different levels of busy, and when the world around you was literally busy day and night, you just had to tone down your own levels a bit to relax. But you were still doing things. It wasn't treasure hunting, but Cayde did like to spin some yarns, and the droid for what he could tell seemed to enjoy the entertainment.

He nodded, figuring to check in with Stark on his own time. The man seemed to be needing the space recently, and given his own missing crewmate Cayde could only guess at what was weighing on his friend's mind.

"Hey, there's no straight shots up to the surface levels that won't get us weird looks if we came out of the undercity overloaded with artillery," he laughed. "Besides, any explosives is an upgrade from nothing. I wasn't about to have all my hard work taken as contraband the moment I stepped off a speeder."

"Did you consider putting it in a crate or box?" she asked, her tone as dry as the surface of Mars. There were other ways to smuggle weapons besides on his person.

It would be an adjustment simply having one or two weapons instead of a whole arsenal. And it sounded like no grenades. That would be something worth testing somewhere safe. Her grenades relied on the Light a lot more than Cayde's. She might be able to manifest them still but not without draining herself.

She considered the city as they lowered through the levels. Engineering wise it was a marvel but... the cost of it and the utter destruction of the planet's natural ecosystems bothered her a bit. There's no balance in this.

"Oh like that wouldn't have been any less suspicious!" Cayde was digging his heels in it now and he knew it. He waved the argument off. "Believe it or not but I don't want to get too carried away unless the Agrii or whoever's watching figures out just how much I've been gathering. Bringing home a crate full of weapons will probably set 'em off for sure."

The taxi wove between the city blocks that formed towers with bases so far below that they couldn't be seen, eventually pulling onto a platform that had certainly seen better days. Cayde hopped out the moment they'd stopped, giving the driver a salute.

"They want us to save them but they won't let us have weapons?" Perhaps they had fought their wars too long but Ikora didn't think diplomacy was a valid solution in this situation. If these Agrii were so desperate that they were kidnapping people from multiple dimensions, weapons felt necessary.

She thanked the driver before she got out of the taxi and put herself shoulder to shoulder with Cayde, scanning the street.

"We've never found ourselves in a situation like this before have we?" She meant the kidnapped by multi-dimensional aliens. Not shopping together. They'd occasionally overlooked stocks and supplies together.

"Given that they believe the storms are the thing they need help with, they probably don't see any reason for anyone to have weapons. Of course, that changed once they found themselves in a pinch, but I think they're still on the wary side."

Once Ikora was ready, Cayde started along through the dingier sector. "No we haven't," he replied with a dry chuckle. But it could have been worse, he figured. At least these aliens didn't outright want them dead like so many in their system.

"It is very hard to shoot a storm." Unless it was a Stormcaller, of course. Ikora made sure to cover Cayde's blindspot. The helmet had to limit his vision in some way though Sundance probably compensated with radar even hidden away.

It was her Warlock nature that made her hope to experience a storm sooner rather than later. She had braved the storm to be a Stormcaller, though she rarely used the spec. She could brave these strange storms as well, she imagined.

"'specially since there's no known core to it." It probably wouldn't be surprising to Ikora at all that Cayde had tried. His helmet hid the knowing smile as he noted where Ikora took up position as they went along. They'd known each other so long that looking out for each other this casually was just like breathing.

Light as the subject of the storm was kept, the phenomenon itself wasn't something that the Exo himself looked forward to experiencing again, especially not if it brought with it familiar faces. Taniks, he could probably weather again. Seeing Andal however had hurt, especially with the way his old friend had looked at him.

"No eye?" Ikora frowned. Every storm had an eye to it. A calm center to stand in while the world raged. It was fairly good proof that the storms were not natural beyond the mental manipulation.

Of course she would cover for Cayde's blindspot. It was natural instinct to protect her fireteam but especially Cayde. After everything that happened in his future where she couldn't protect him she needed to make sure.

There were plenty of phantoms that lurked in her past. Less with her reconciliation with Osiris. She still planned to stand in the storm and experience it even if it brought back painful memories. "It will be interesting to try and withstand a storm with no eye to catch your breath."

"Storm was pretty big, couldn't pinpoint one. We were coming in with the ships and then the power gutted out on all of 'em. We crash landed before we could try to get a better sense of anything. It was hard enough trying to find the city walking through it all."

Cayde was just glad Sundance was there when she was, not that her readouts made too much sense when he was the only one seeing the things he saw, but it saved him from wasting more bullets than he initially had with that phantom of Taniks. Didn't explain why he could still feel the warped Fallen's shots despite not being real.

"Heh. You are the only one that would probably ever look forward to that of our group," he said with a dry chuckle, weaving his way through the denser walkway as more people were about the market area they'd come upon. He casually turned down an alley off the main area.

A storm with no eye to catch your breath... He thought on those words, recalling the old radio tower-like thing he'd help scope out back in Temba.

"What Warlock doesn't want to walk into the storm?" They embraced it. As chaos swirled around them, they were the calm center. It was never a surprise when Warlocks were called crazy.

She dodged around an alien with large bug like eyes and thin, proboscis mouth. There was a lot more variety here than on Earth. Of course, their only allied race were the Awoken and only those who had left the fleet.

And then they were in an alley. With anyone else she might feel uneasy but Cayde wouldn't lead her anywhere they couldn't handle together.

"In our own ways we both walk into the unknown. My unknown happens to be a bit more esoteric than yours."

"True, but there's only one Warlock, and one Hunter to understand a Warlock's tendencies," Cayde pointed out with a grin that while unseen could definitely be heard.

The lights along the way flickered ineffectually here and there, the rest providing a dimly lit path to side doors marked by old, scratched up or stained plaques. "And my unknown hopefully holds some shiny goodies somewhere," the Exo said cheerfully as he came to a stop by an open door, giving a couple of knocks alongside the metal frame before stepping inside.

It was crowded inside with shelves of old equipment and crates, but along the walls were racks of a few firearms, most having had previous owners but still in good condition. It wasn't that well lit, casting most of the merchandise as silhouettes, and mixed in with the scent of grease and metal was something more pungent, almost incense-like. Behind a crowded counter a red-skinned Devaronian sat, the point of one of his two horns broken off, a cybernetic implant mounted where his right eye would be. Lifting his head and breathing a wisp of smoke out, he grinned sharp teeth as he caught sight of the two.

"<Cayde! And friend- always welcome, good business you bring!>"

"Hey now, none of that, Zarv. Let's keep it in English. Er, Basic."

"You know my Basic not good," Zarv almost pouted, straightening from behind his workspace.

"Good enough for business," Cayde countered, which the Devaronian conceded with a sly grin.

"Yes, good enough. What you look for? New friend for the lady?"
