Night at the Museum (OTA)

WHO: Kyle Broflovski and YOU!
WHERE: The Underground of Coruscant (Level 4)
WHAT: A very wholesome field trip to the lost Galactic Museum.
WHEN: During the event. (Mid-ish?)
WARNINGS: The foulest of language. Injury extremely likely. More as needed.



Kyle's seen aliens before.

A group of them from the Jannex Galaxy, a spaceship full of greys, the Marklar, and Jeff Bezos. This is the first time he's seen quite so many different kinds in one place, but even so it doesn't take him long to feel comfortable enough to talk to a few of them at the Senate Tour that Obi-Wan had suggested he take. One of these friendly aliens had mentioned in passing that it was a pity that the Galactic Museum could no longer be toured, due to it having been lost and forgotten somewhere down on Level 4.

A lost museum seems to Kyle like exactly the sort of thing the Agrii would want them to find. And even if not, well. Kyle really likes museums.

Is it difficult to get to Level 4? Oh, yes. And extremely dangerous. This doesn't deter Kyle one bit, and so he puts out a call on the Network to let people know that hey, he's putting together a museum field trip and anybody is welcome to come! Provided, that is, that you don't mind finding your way down through huge portals/ventilation shafts into a world where sunlight is less than a memory and dangerous people and creatures lurk around every corner.

But hey, if you decide to come down, you'll find a too-tall ginger waiting for you with some flashlights and a notepad.

You bet your ass he's going to force you to use the Buddy System.

"Just examples, dude."

He shines his light over what sure looks to be a bunch of broken displays as they head downthe hall.

"He's really smart and handy, huh?"

"Yeah, Dr. Stark is pretty good. He's teaching me things. i don't know if he always intends it, but..."

Well, the guy doesn't think he's an idiot. And that's nice.

"What kind of things?" Kyle asks as he steps close to one of the broken displays. He peers in, seeing what looks like tools from the bronze age.

"A lot of electrical engineering, more than i had to learn for my job. Some other engineering stuff."

Though physics was what Tommy really understood, on an instinctive level.

[kyley_b]

"Dude, that's awesome," Kyle says with perfect honestly. "And we're gonna need it. Shit, I oughtta get him to teach ME some stuff. Most of my hard sciences are woefully lacking these days."

[doubled_speed]

“Dr Stark doesn’t teach so much as do stuff and you sorta watch or do stuff with him,” Tommy answers as he follows Kyle.

Okay maybe he is a bit possessive of someone who cares for him. A bit. Who knew if Tony cared. But the guy tolerated him.

"That's fine, I can learn by watching." Kyle glances at Tommy, eyebrows raised.

"I mean... if that's okay?"

[doubled_speed]

“You’d have to ask him,” Tommy answered.

Who knew. Maybe Tony would take to Kyle better. And then Tony could have a good student and helper. Which Tommy wouldn’t mind. Of course. Right. It’s fine.

"Dude, I meant with YOU."

Because he's not blind, and he's far from stupid - it's pretty clear a boundary exists here.

What?

“Dude, if you wanna learn I don’t suggest you do it from me.”

[kyley_b]

Kyle snorts in irritation. "I meant if it's OKAY with you," he explains. "You looked weird when I mentioned it, so obviously there's something up."

“I didn’t look weird,” Tommy insisted quickly, speeding up a step. Don’t do this, man. He can’t handle that.

[kyley_b]

"Yeah, you did," Kyle insists. "Whatever, man, I was just trying to say it's cool that you're learning shit. I wasn't making fun of you or something."

[doubled_speed]

Oh. Okay. Tommy still is a bit nervous to be spoken to like this, but he’s clearly going to live with it.

“I did not,” he insists again. “And learning is nice when I’ve got time for it. Which, with all I do, I don’t always have.”

[kyley_b]

"Did so."

Jesus, these two.

"Yeah, what exactly ARE you doing? You sound busy with handling food, but like, I barely had time to figure out what everyone was up to before we wound up here."

[doubled_speed]

“Managing the greenhouse, running the diner, preserving food, helping Stark, making sure Billy doesn’t break things, working on the island...”

Too many things.

[kyley_b]

Kyle looks at him, brow creased. "You need help," he states bluntly. "When we get back, I'll help you."

[doubled_speed]

Well that was interesting.

“Alright. I can live with that,” Tommy says. He really needs it, knows it, and will welcome the help.

[kyley_b]

"Great!" He's well pleased, because Kyle really does love to help people. He's not always good at it, but he tries.

[doubled_speed]

"Damn, man, stop smiling so much. You look like you're actually excited to do all of this."

This isn't even something Tommy's really excited to be doing, but the help... he's not going to turn it away.

[kyley_b]

Kyle feels his face heat up. "Sorry," he mutters. "But I am excited. It'll be cool."

[doubled_speed]

Awww, he's flustered. Tommy feels proud to have achieved that.

"Well, I'm always happy for help. There isn't a lot. People want other datapoints, cooler ones. Or they're like 'hey someone's doing it so it's fine.'. Like, yeah, I only need four hours of sleep and the day on Agra 10 is longer, but fuck man."

He's not saying he can't do it. He'll never say that. But help is appreciated.

"See, this is what I was saying about getting a list about who can do what and stuff," Kyle rambles on. "So nobody's left short. You need some you-time, dude."

[doubled_speed]

"Wow, organizing nerd," Tommy laughs, shaking his head as they keep walking. "Bet you'd like that. Just taking charge."

[kyley_b]

Kyle looks at his feet for a second.

"Well. Yeah. I'm good at it. For better or worse." He sighs.

"I'm good at organizing. I'm good at facts, and at presenting them to people. I'm not good at keeping people going just based on emotional appeal. I'm not that charismatic. And I learned a long time ago that charisma matters more than logic."
