Rude awakening - Closed to Grogu

Last thing Mando remembers, is him and the kid--no. it was Grogu now--aboard the Razor Crest, leaving the planet Corvus. They'd found a Jedi, Ahsoka Tano, who'd refused to train Grogu in the end. Insisting the kid was too attached to him. Mando had been a mix of both frustration and, oddly, relief. But she did give them a lead to the planet Tython, one more attempt to try and find a Jedi to train Grogu. A last chance to finish the quest. Or at least that's where they were SUPPOSED to be headed.

Mando didn't remember blacking out, but suddenly he's waking up to rough uneven ground underneath him, instead of the pilot seat of his ship. It's only a moment, before he becomes fully aware again with a start and quickly climbs to his feet. Pistol automatically drawn from it's holster, in the ready as his visored gaze took in his surroundings. Somewhere in the back of his mind, the ruined city looked familiar, but he couldn't place why. His gaze eventually fell on the orb, and he found himself drawn to it. Touching the surface with his free hand and the information, and memories, came flooding into his mind.

He stumbles back from it, free hand coming up to grasp at the helmet for a moment, as he shakes it to clear his head. Agra-10, this maker-forsaken planet and the damn Agrii. What the hell was he doing back here? Then he drops the hand, and looks up with a start.

"Kid?" Had Grogu come with him once again? He tried to keep calm, as he looked around frantically for a sign of the small green child.

Exploration - OTA

Eventually father and son will move out to take in the city and see what, or who, they can find. Mando has Grogu tucked in one arm, or if not, the kid might mot be too far away. Just expect a pistol drawn on you, if you startle Mando. He's tense and on alert. One of the stops is to the hangar, the fact that the First Breath refused to open for him making him frown under the helmet. Eventually finding that the Twin Roses and the Starduck open when they get near them. He tilts his helm to the side and down to look at the kid.

"Want to check them out?"

And being the mischievous kid he is, Grogu of course is prone to wandering off on his own to explore. Fortunately for the kid, Mando's usually not too far behind in looking for him.

Obi-wan underestimates Din's powerstubbornness. There's conflict going on within him. Part of him is happy to hear this, certainly doesn't want to end the bond between them. A bond he's tried his best to deny to himself. He'd have to let the kid go, if they ever did find a Jedi.

But this place is definitely throwing a wrench into that conflict. As Obi-wan had said, they were all stuck together here. There's an annoyed sigh that escapes him, as he listens to Obi-wan's words.

"Even if we're stuck here." No, part of him really doesn't want it to end. "I can't train him." He says with another small sigh. "I barely know his powers."

Search your feelings, Din, you know it to be true.

Grogu won't deny the bond. He'd been alone for so long and Din showed him such kindness and took care of him in a way no one had in a long time. He'd been without guidance and didn't think he'd ever find his way back to the Jedi so it was easy to forget the lesson about not making attachments. He likes Din... is it wrong to not want to lose that?

“No, you can’t,” Obi-Wan confirms with a sigh. “Only a Jedi can do that.”

He looked at Grogu, sensing his feelings and feeling a bit conflicted himself. The Jedi had their ways, and they were there for good reason. While Grogu’s feelings are understandable and not necessarily wrong, it did pose a risk. One that Obi-Wan had faced before. Though they were in rather extenuating circumstances here.

“If he’s not trained, he will be vulnerable.”

They were in a survival situation here and Grogu needed to learn to defend himself. There might not always be someone there to keep him safe. Yet even so, Obi-Wan sighed and shook his head.

“I’m sorry, but I can’t give you an answer right now. I need to meditate on this.”

It was a difficult decision for him, and he needed to think. Hopefully the Force would guide him.

It certainly doesn't hurt, that Obi-wan basically told him that Grogu wanted to stay with him. His loyalty to the creed is telling him this is his duty. A creed he's found himself questioning a lot lately. Maybe this was to make him question more. Din nods in affirmation of Obi-wan's words.

"Ahsoka said he'd had training before. I don't know to what extent." Because he can't read minds unlike you Jedi, and Ahsoka apparently didn't feel like elaborating. He's only seen the kid do a few powers, and all but one were in extreme circumstances.

He tilts the helm to look down at Grogu again. Although He can't help the small frown under the helmet at the man's words. He lifts his helm again to look at Obi-wan again. Not completely straightened, but enough to see his face, giving another nod.

"Fair enough." Denial again, but at least it wasn't out right refusal like with Ahsoka. There's that twist of relief and disappointment within him again. "Thank you."

That's because he'd had to hide his powers for so long, Din. He barely did that Jedi stuff anymore. It wasn't safe... right?

What's the rush, Din? They aren't going anywhere, right? There's no need to rush into things...

Obi-Wan nodded quietly at what Mando says of Ahsoka. “A Jedi begins training at a very young age. The moment we were first brought to the temple our training began. For me, I was three years old.”

He looked at Grogu again, a fond smile on his face. “I actually knew of our young friend. He was in the early stages of training as an initiate. He has much to learn yet.”

His expression them grew a bit somber again. “As for whether I will continue that, I will let you know of my answer once I have decided.” It was then he gave a bow to them. “Until then, may the Force be with you both.”

No, there is no need to rush. Din just needs to get that in his stubborn head. Ahsoka had told him Grogu had hidden his powers...abilities over the years. To keep safe himself safe. Din can definitely relate to the hiding to be safe part. His helmet tilts as he listens, there's at least some interest there, in what he's told. Wow, you Jedi started them young, didn't you?

"From the Jedi temple." He remembers that much from what Ahsoka had said, what he was told Grogu had gone through. Between Ahsoka, and this. It's left a lot for him to think about. A lot to process, and so it was probably good that Obi-wan needed time, cause it gave Din time too, to let the information sink in, and maybe consider what comes next.

He shifts his weight at the bow, giving a nod in return. He almost doesn't give a response back. He didn't to Ahsoka, with so much on his mind then, too. But it was best to keep relations good with this Jedi...right? Tus afer a momentary hesitation:

"....and to you."

Whoa. Master Kenobi had heard of him?! To say that was a surprise was an understatement. He felt humbled and honored at that.

Smiling, he waved at Master Kenobi as he left.

Those returned words brings a smile to the Jedi's face, just before he looks to Grogu and waves to him. It's then that he went further into the ship. He would get something to eat and then go get some rest. He had some thinking and later some more meditation to do.
