Here and back again
WHO: Mando, TheChild™, open
WHERE: Fountain, around Tembra
WHAT: Arrival in the city
WHEN: Couple days before event start, cause let's give these guys a chance to settle in first
WARNINGS: Season 2 spoilers for kid's name and events, just to be safe. Will update if needed
Rude awakening - Closed to Grogu
Last thing Mando remembers, is him and the kid--no. it was Grogu now--aboard the Razor Crest, leaving the planet Corvus. They'd found a Jedi, Ahsoka Tano, who'd refused to train Grogu in the end. Insisting the kid was too attached to him. Mando had been a mix of both frustration and, oddly, relief. But she did give them a lead to the planet Tython, one more attempt to try and find a Jedi to train Grogu. A last chance to finish the quest. Or at least that's where they were SUPPOSED to be headed.
Mando didn't remember blacking out, but suddenly he's waking up to rough uneven ground underneath him, instead of the pilot seat of his ship. It's only a moment, before he becomes fully aware again with a start and quickly climbs to his feet. Pistol automatically drawn from it's holster, in the ready as his visored gaze took in his surroundings. Somewhere in the back of his mind, the ruined city looked familiar, but he couldn't place why. His gaze eventually fell on the orb, and he found himself drawn to it. Touching the surface with his free hand and the information, and memories, came flooding into his mind.
He stumbles back from it, free hand coming up to grasp at the helmet for a moment, as he shakes it to clear his head. Agra-10, this maker-forsaken planet and the damn Agrii. What the hell was he doing back here? Then he drops the hand, and looks up with a start.
"Kid?" Had Grogu come with him once again? He tried to keep calm, as he looked around frantically for a sign of the small green child.
Exploration - OTA
Eventually father and son will move out to take in the city and see what, or who, they can find. Mando has Grogu tucked in one arm, or if not, the kid might mot be too far away. Just expect a pistol drawn on you, if you startle Mando. He's tense and on alert. One of the stops is to the hangar, the fact that the First Breath refused to open for him making him frown under the helmet. Eventually finding that the Twin Roses and the Starduck open when they get near them. He tilts his helm to the side and down to look at the kid.
"Want to check them out?"
And being the mischievous kid he is, Grogu of course is prone to wandering off on his own to explore. Fortunately for the kid, Mando's usually not too far behind in looking for him.

"I assume you're in charge of the ship?" Din had raised an eyebrow at Tommy's comment...complaint? When before he'd been taking in the plants. Certainly wasn't very welcoming.
"A Mandalorian." He responds, frowning under the helmet at being called a tin can, and the kid being called a doll. Outwardly he stays neutral, however, outside of the fingers of his right hand rolling inward. He glances down at Grogu, at the kid's raspberry response. Yes son he did. He looks back up to address Tommy.
"No. He's a friend of mine." The tone is disapproving
no subject
"No one is in charge of anything. You're just the second new guy. Third I guess, since that isn't... Wait."
Tommy's there right by them in the blink of an eye. Super speed was pretty intense, though the kid might have a better ability to track him, given Tommy kept running into people with the Force that did.
"You look familiar. Both of you. Didn't Billy babysit you and Baby James when the whole shit with the Agrii ship went down?"
Sorry Mando, you're not nearly as interesting as the kid.
no subject
But still... He doesn't know who this guy is, sorry.
I'm sorry xD
Tommy going from a fair distance away, to right there in the blink of an eye startles Din. His first reaction is to quickly put distance between them, and drawing his pistol. Pointing it at the man, as his stance puts himself between Grogu and Tommy. Nevermind that Tommy can easily dodge any shots. But Din's not the brightest out there. At least he hasn't fired.
"Jedi?" Can Jedi even move that fast? He doesn't know, but the only people he knows of that use, what seemed like, 'magic' are Jedi. Tommy mentioning a familiar name, however, does get him slowly lowering the pistol once again.
"Billy..." Right, the kid that liked to watch Grogu. His helm tilts. "You know him?"
no subject
Fuck this ship he had to think to himself. Why couldn't there be people on the Twin Roses who can't see through his speed? Hates it, thanks.
But he has to react, because he actually does have an instinctual reaction to someone getting a gun out. He moves even faster. He ducks under the outstretched arm, grabs the fun out of it and puts it on the floor, kicking it aside. He knew better than to just drop the gun.
"Geez man, you could hurt someone like that," Tommy snaps at the armored man. "Definitely not a Jedi if they're like what I've been told about them before. Just fast. And Billy's my twin brother."
Who is currently a few years younger than him. Hilarious, right?
no subject
Normally Din doesn't draw his gun on a stranger, unless they're attacking first. But after months of being hunted by the Empire, bounty hunters and others. Having somebody move like a ship in hyperspace on him without warning, has him on edge and highly suspicious.
Having his gun taken and kicked across the hangar? Not helping either, though it is better than Tommy turning it on him. He'll give the kid that. The arm lowering, even if his fingers roll into a fist.
"Happens when you're suddenly two feet from somebody." He snaps back. You brought it on yourself, Tommy. "Jedi are the only magic users I know." Because what are super powered kids? "Billy still here?"
no subject
And that's just who he was. Deal with it, bitch.
"Yeah, B's still here. He's the magic one. And I've seen people using other powers too. Ben could use something like telekinesis. Cal has powers. My Aunt Lorna manipulates magnetic fields."
no subject
He could fix that.
Letting the adults talk about... whatever it was they were talking about... Grogu held out his hand in the direction of Din's blaster. It took a moment, but the blaster seemed to shudder and shake before lifting ever so slightly off the ground and flying over to land next to Din's foot.
no subject
Fine, he will deal with it.
"Wait...Cal and Billy have powers?" He honestly never saw them use them last time he was here.
But anything else he may have asked gets interrupted, when there's a clattering from across the cargo bay. He's quick to turn the helmet, just in time to see his blaster come flying, and land next to his boot with a clatter.
"No no no." His attention turns to Grogu, leaving the gun where it lies for the moment. "Not supposed to do that." The reprimand sounds gentle. More like a parent correcting his toddler for drawing on the walls, though, as he shakes a finger at him. Although Tommy's getting glances out of his peripherals, too. Wondering how the young man reacted.
no subject
"Yeah, they do," Tommy confirms. Not that he knows there is much he can tell Mando about Cal. "Cal's one of those Jedi people, or was going to be one? And I think that Ben guy who just joined our ship is too because he also used the word Force to describe what he did, and Cal seemed to imply it was something only they did. Well, them and Sith. As for Billy, he's just a witch."
no subject
"Huh, they didn't mention it before." He's going to have to ask them, when he sees them. But the mention of at least two Jedi here... "Good to know, I've...been looking for Jedi. I'll...have to ask them." The helm tilts a little "...Sith?" The confusion is genuine. He honestly has no clue what a 'Sith' is. "Are they like Jedi?"
no subject
"What do you need Jedi for?"
Because Tommy doesn't want this guy near Cal if the guy might hurt him. Because he looks dangerous. Which Tommy respected, but he liked his friends too.
"Sith are, like, the other end of the sew-saw I think. Most of what I know I saw in the memories of one of their leaders."
no subject
"You saw his powers." He motions with his free hand. Well, one of them anyway. He keeps his tone calm. "Back...in our world, I was quested to bring him to a Jedi." The answer's honest. He's got no reason to lie, when Tommy is offering information in return. So thanks for the info man, that'll be useful as hell. "I appreciate the information." He too, can appreciate Tommy's wanting to protect friends. If roles were reversed, he might be the same.
"...so basically evil Jedi." Din no.
no subject
And everyone had their own things that helped and harmed.
no subject
The conversation definitely had his interest, though. Sith? He'd never heard of a Sith before and he was a padawan! It just proves that the Jedi Masters didn't tell the younglings everything. Rude. But... it did sound a lot like what had happened at the Temple. A Jedi that had gone to the dark side who was willing to hurt him and his fellow younglings... it brought back terrible memories. He made a soft noise, looking down.
no subject
"Empire...yeah. I'm aware of at least one Empire." Did Gideon have any of these...Sith? He certainly didn't seem to have any. "Been protecting him from that Empire." The small noise has his arm almost instinctively tightening a little, in an attempt to comfort.
no subject
"Well, if the little guy is nice and gentle, I definitely suggest staying away. Meanwhile he might have some help here. Just, yanno, no using those powers of yours to hurt people, kid. It's not nice."
And Tommy would know. He's got powers that are absolutely not nice too. So he knows about holding back.
no subject
It does still make him smile, though. His ears raise and he looks up at Din. Thanks, Dad. Though, at the mention of the Empire, those ears lower again and his eyes widen. He makes a small noise. He knows about the Empire... and he definitely doesn't like those guys.
no subject
"Anyone from the empire here?" He tilts his head at Tommy. If there is, he'd appreciate the heads up warning. "I'll make sure he doesn't use them to hurt people." They're not going to have a repeat of them time Grogu choked Cara over arm wrestling.
"Thanks, for your information. You have a name?"
no subject
His friends he had made among the Imperials are gone now. Nothing he can do about that. Better not to think about it, though. So instead he forces a smile into place.
"Tommy Shepherd. King of Speed."
no subject
"Shepherd." He nods. Sorry Tommy, he calls people by their last names. He'll step closer, offering out his free hand to shake. "Name's Mando." He offers, giving what could be a soft snort of amusement. "I noticed the speed. How long have you been able o...speed like that?"
