Here and back again
WHO: Mando, TheChild™, open
WHERE: Fountain, around Tembra
WHAT: Arrival in the city
WHEN: Couple days before event start, cause let's give these guys a chance to settle in first
WARNINGS: Season 2 spoilers for kid's name and events, just to be safe. Will update if needed
Rude awakening - Closed to Grogu
Last thing Mando remembers, is him and the kid--no. it was Grogu now--aboard the Razor Crest, leaving the planet Corvus. They'd found a Jedi, Ahsoka Tano, who'd refused to train Grogu in the end. Insisting the kid was too attached to him. Mando had been a mix of both frustration and, oddly, relief. But she did give them a lead to the planet Tython, one more attempt to try and find a Jedi to train Grogu. A last chance to finish the quest. Or at least that's where they were SUPPOSED to be headed.
Mando didn't remember blacking out, but suddenly he's waking up to rough uneven ground underneath him, instead of the pilot seat of his ship. It's only a moment, before he becomes fully aware again with a start and quickly climbs to his feet. Pistol automatically drawn from it's holster, in the ready as his visored gaze took in his surroundings. Somewhere in the back of his mind, the ruined city looked familiar, but he couldn't place why. His gaze eventually fell on the orb, and he found himself drawn to it. Touching the surface with his free hand and the information, and memories, came flooding into his mind.
He stumbles back from it, free hand coming up to grasp at the helmet for a moment, as he shakes it to clear his head. Agra-10, this maker-forsaken planet and the damn Agrii. What the hell was he doing back here? Then he drops the hand, and looks up with a start.
"Kid?" Had Grogu come with him once again? He tried to keep calm, as he looked around frantically for a sign of the small green child.
Exploration - OTA
Eventually father and son will move out to take in the city and see what, or who, they can find. Mando has Grogu tucked in one arm, or if not, the kid might mot be too far away. Just expect a pistol drawn on you, if you startle Mando. He's tense and on alert. One of the stops is to the hangar, the fact that the First Breath refused to open for him making him frown under the helmet. Eventually finding that the Twin Roses and the Starduck open when they get near them. He tilts his helm to the side and down to look at the kid.
"Want to check them out?"
And being the mischievous kid he is, Grogu of course is prone to wandering off on his own to explore. Fortunately for the kid, Mando's usually not too far behind in looking for him.

"It's been about six months, since I remember being here." His helm tilts, at the amount of time thought to of passed here. "So about the same amount of time." He nods, and then Cal's asking about the kid, and his helm tilts down at the curious noise that answers.
"Yeah, he wasn't too far from me." He says, glancing up to Cal, then back to Grogu. "It's alright, kid. Cal's a friend." Did the kid even remember? How good was the memory of little kids? Din didn't know.

"There you are," Cal says. "Good to see he's been taking care of you." He glances from the child to the Mandalorian then. "That's interesting. It seems like the amount of time varies between people who might have been sent home and get pulled back- if that happens. Probably better you missed the storm at least. The last one was real bad."

The droid has his interest, though. His eyes get wide and he makes a curious mrring noise as he watches it move.

we'll just ignore the whole electrocuting part."He's been eating a lot more." Seriously, it's almost like he can't keep the kid fed. But that happens with growing kids. He tilts his helm up to look at Cal. "What happened with the storm?"

BD-1 chirps at the kid, perhaps only slightly shorter than the green one even when he's not fully extended on his birdlike legs. He ventures closer just a little before bouncing back, then inching forward again with a curious beep.
Cal watches the two, grinning a little as he straightens. He looks to the Mandalorian again. "Healthy appetite's good, I guess," he says. His brow furrows then as he thinks back on the storm. "It knocked out our shuttles on the way back to Temba. We all crashlanded out in the wilderness. Some of us stayed with the shuttles to wait out the storm. Others decided to chance it and try getting back to the city."
He frowns, shaking his head. "...it was worse than the first one I experienced. You'd see...people. Ghosts from the past, out in the storm. What made it dangerous was that we were out in the mountains trying to find the source of the storm and ended up chasing people that weren't there. BeeDee kept me from running off a cliff more than a few times. This storm though? ...you could hear them. The people you knew. But they'd never have anything nice to say..." His fingers curl into fists at his sides at the memory, but he forces them to relax with a sigh.

Moving out from behind Din's leg, Grogu makes a curious noise as he watches the droid. He takes a couple of small steps forward, reaching out towards it. What are you, strange thing?
He'll just let Din handle the serious talk. He seems to know what Val is talking about, after all.

Din watches Grogu and the small droid. He may or may not be smiling just a little under the helmet, as he watches the interaction. Fortunately he's more tolerant of droids now, so he's not going to stop the two from interacting.
His helm tilts back up to Cal as the boy straightens, helm tilting to the side as he starts his explanation of the storm. His previous hidden smile, turning into a frown as he listens. "Were there any injuries from the crashes?" He asks, but then his helm rolls to tilt the other way, frown only deepening aa the fingers on one hand grip into a loose fist.
"That doesn't sound pleasant to go through." He's...not sure what else to say, watching the boy's brief angry reaction. "I'm..sorry you had to go through that."
no subject
"It wasn't," Cal says, sighing before he rakes his fingers through his hair. "Heard it was a lot worse in the city itself. I didn't get out that far. Got a little lost out in the woods- not sure if that was for the better or worse." He snorts lightly at that. "On top of that, if you have any sort of unusual abilities, the storm cuts you off from them."

Speaking of Grogu, that happy squeal makes his gaze jerk down to where the kid and the droid are. The mention of 'unusual abilities' certainly makes him a little concerned for Grogu, for future storms. You two are ruining a serious discussion.
"No we can't keep it." He remarks to Grogu preemptively, in case the kid was even thinking it.

Cal can't help but smile a little at the two, glad for the break in the mood he'd had no intention of drawing down, but he feels it's important to warn the Mandalorian, and especially the kid if his hunches about the warrior's ward is correct. His eyes flick towards the little green child who reminds him so much of the wizened Jedi master he knew before looking again to the Mandalorian.
"That's about the gist of things that you've missed. The ships took a beating in the landing but we've been working on getting most of them up and running again. While we were aboard the Agrii ship I managed to get them upgraded for speed and shields with some help, so there's that."
no subject
Meh. He turns his attention back to the little droid. It's not often he gets to meet anyone around his size. And droid or not, BD-1 is great! He smiles at the happy titter, pleased to have something happy to do while Din has his serious conversation.

Honestly, part of him is glad for the bit of distraction, too. He might even be smiling a little under the helmet, as he watches the interaction. He and Grogu have had way too much serious stuff going on in their lives lately. Poor kid needs to have a good time for once.
"Thanks for the heads up." He lifts his helm to look at Cal, the thanks sounding genuine. He really is glad for the warning. So he's aware for future storms that might be coming. He turns away enough to look at said ships, giving a nod of approval. "Looks like you did a good job fixing them." He turns back to Cal "Good, from what I remember. The speed really needed upgraded." Those things were slow as hell.
no subject
"Heh! I think we've been spoiled by being able to travel through hyperspace." That last trip had been painfully long and uneventful, and he hopes that if they ever have to fly somewhere again, it won't be a repeat. "Oh yeah, I got the replicator up and running again too. Still no weapons, but it should be good for most other things."
no subject
Satisfied enough with the agreement that they could be friends, Grogu tried to figure out what he and his new friend could do together. Could they play? He reached out a hand to boop the droid. Tag!
no subject
"You can be friends." What harm could it be after all. Kid always seemed to like having somebody to play with. He watches the start of the tag game, before looking back at Cal.
"Probably." He nods, he remembers wishing they went faster. "Good about the replicator. Weapons, however...wasn't there a room found with guns?" He didn't wind up looking into it. But he vaguely remembers hearing about it.
