♤ Net Work - [Video]

Hey my dudes!

[Here's everyone's favorite Exo- okay, so for most here he's likely the only Exo anyone's ever met- strolling about within one of the many abandoned structures of the city. This one's got some strange gears and machinery of some sort along the back. There are a few cracks in the walls that have given way completely, offering a glimpse of the rest of the city beyond. He must be somewhere fairly high up, given the view.]

So. Important questions. ...well all right, maybe not important but anyway-

One, do we have like...a bar or a tavern, or whatever people like to call 'em nowadays- a pub? We back to that? Yeah- local hangout- we got one of those? Now I realize we don't seem to be a whole lotta people here, but having a watering hole to just enjoy a drink and sit or something in between our trying to solve world problems doesn't sound like a bad thing to have.

Two...

[He's wandered over to some makeshift shelving unit where he's got a few bottles of whatever drinks had been served at that last Agrii-sponsored party. It seemed a shame to let them go to waste, after all! He picks one of the bottles up, watching the red liquid as he turns it from side to side.]

Drinks. Obviously they're available. In connection to question one, a bar's gotta have drinks. So did the Agrii just make these pop out of nowhere or is there a better way to go about making this stuff?

[ Aaaaand another bout of silence. Tony... Dammit. Like Jon needs to worry about that guy now! And what is this madness about improvement of humanity? But... okay. One burning trash pile at a time. ]

Is... Is he alright, though? I mean- He didn't get hurt during this?

[ No one was brought to the hospital as far as he knows, but he could have just missed it as well. It's not like there is much record keeping being done at the moment. ]
beholding_archivist: (This is nonsense)

...Good Lord...

[ Does he sound relieved to hear that? Well, he is. ]

It's like he's actively trying to get himself killed. Doesn't he know that wild animals can be dangerous?
beholding_archivist: (May I ask...?)

[personal profile] beholding_archivist 2020-04-29 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Locking an animal up and domesticating it are two entirely different things. I admit, the idea isn't entirely foolish, but-!

...no wonder he thinks that improving humans via technology is a good idea. No offense to you, Cayde. You may have uploaded your mind into a machine, but you didn't slowly turn your body into one piece by piece.

I am not asking you to have regrets, Cayde. You will have your reasons for that decision - Also the technology obviously exists already on your world. What I'm dreading more are the experimental states in between.

[ That's too much of the Stranger for his liking. ]

You know, Cayde, I'm equally intrigued and terrified about ever learning the full history of your world.
beholding_archivist: (Mighty Frown)

[personal profile] beholding_archivist 2020-04-29 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Very reassuring. I will refrain from any too imploring questions, however.
beholding_archivist: Do not take. Thanks. (Well if you say so...)

[personal profile] beholding_archivist 2020-04-30 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I... Guess I wouldn't mind?

Once we manage to make something les dreadful than the drinks they offered at the party.

[ He has more favorable memories of being intoxicated on other substances. ]
beholding_archivist: (u sure.)

[personal profile] beholding_archivist 2020-04-30 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
...the last time someone thought that was a good idea I got into quite a bit of trouble with most of my professors.

[ He may not seem like it these days, but growing up Jon wasn't the most easy person to be around. ]
beholding_archivist: (Could you just not?)

[personal profile] beholding_archivist 2020-04-30 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
A lot of it came down to boredom, really. As a kid I would wander off and the police had to deliver me back to my grandmother. School added classmates to that boredom and later, university, access to a lot of things usually kept out of children's reach.

[ There's a verbal shrug here. ]

My grades were good and no one ever got seriously hurt. I guess I was more frustrating to deal with than destructive, so they couldn't kick me out?

Just... Very easily bored. I don't envy my grandmother for having to raise me. She did what she could. But as you can probably imagine she wasn't the sort of person to consider a computer or video games a valid distraction - Nor an easily affordable one. So there you go.
beholding_archivist: (This again.)

[personal profile] beholding_archivist 2020-04-30 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
University. Having grown up reading away a lot of my time after my grandmother got tired of me causing trouble, there just... Classes bored me. Studying felt like a waste of time and as any other student I had little money on my hand. So I had time, was bored, had hardly any money... But I had far too much theoretical knowledge about making alcohol and access to a school lab.

The stuff was terrible, but very potent and as a student that serves you just right. My idiot of a roommate had the brilliant idea to try and sell it at the university. That's when the trouble started.

It's been a decade, Cayde. Please don't think I haven't learned from those days.
