I am currently looking for someone who has interfaced with the Communications data point for a project I am working on. Commute to Sh'Ka is mandatory though you don't need to stay. Frankly, it's better for me if you don't.

Don't bother inquiring if you can't take things seriously, can't take direction, or aren't willing to work.

If interested, get in touch with me as soon as conceivably possible. Preferably within the next day or two.

And, on that note, who here has interfaced with the Engineering data point?

Honestly, this data point system is the most infuriating and non-efficient system I've ever encountered. Did nobody beta test this?!

Yes, the lack of data points here is honestly surprising. But I prefer to sequester myself away from the hustle and bustle.

[Waiting for trains suck, especially when they don't run nearly as frequently as subways in New York. But EVENTUALLY Donnie does make it out to Sh'Ka. He carefully navigates away from the creeping blood vines, although not without studying them as he seeks where the best place to get cuttings would be. ...later. That's going to be a mess to propagate and he'd rather not look like he'd just murdered someone. He'd already gotten one hoodie messed up, he's not getting this one bloodied!]

[Sure enough, here comes Eggman, huffing and puffing. He's not used to traveling without his precious Eggmobile.]

[When he arrives, he leans over and places his hands on his knees, wheezing.]

Blasted...hah...overgrown...! Jungle!

Oh, I really need to design and construct a proper Eggmobile or this world will be the death of me.

[Ooh... That mustache is definitely a lot bigger in person.

Donnie blinks and fixes the strap of his bag over his shoulder as he starts over towards the poor guy.]

Doctor Robotnik? You all right there?

Yes, Donatello! Hello!

[Eggman, looks Donnie up and down. He's...a little surprised at his size. He's used to the furries he deals with being about the size of children. People he can easily throw around. Donatello, however, seems much more physically imposing...]

[Interesting.]

Eh...apologies. I'm not exactly used to such a...lush environment. I prefer something more...sterile. Metallic.

[If only Eggy could see Raph..!

Donnie smiles crookedly at that admission.]

Yeah, unfortunately things just go all to pieces once people are out of the picture I guess. At least they got the power and water running here, otherwise it'd be unbearable.

Yes, finding a source of power was tantamount to my establishing a base of operations.

I'm surprised no one has really chosen to settle this city.

Eh, guess people would rather be with other people, at least for the most part.

Or maybe one city's already enough for most to be worrying about.

[Well, he supposes it's fine for Donatello to know where his command center is. He'll have to set up precautions in the event that he decides to be more a hindrance than a help but...]

Come, it's in a building near the power plant. Luckily, no one else claimed such a vital location for themselves.

I don't know! I'm just theorizing. Asking about it would probably just make people wonder that maybe they should make better use of a secondary resource, and there goes your peace and quiet!

[Donnie nods then. Seems perfectly reasonable for someone planning on tinkering with machinery to set up close to the power plant.]

Maybe whatever lives around there's kept them away? I wonder if any of the wildlife's come back since the volcano blew all its ash in this direction.

Hrm. You have a point. Best to leave well enough alone.

[Eggman picks his path carefully, doing his best to follow the route he came from and avoiding as much difficult terrain and overgrowth as possible.]

I've not noticed any but my scope is limited. Part of the reason I'd like to set up these sentry bots. There's a surprising number of underutilized bots here in Sh'Ka that I'm converting into something more tailored to my own preferences. You'll see.

Once they're built, I'll need someone synced with the communications data point to help me tether them to the network. Perhaps design an app for these communication devices that will allow users to tap into the feed.

[Something he can piggyback off of himself.]

There's some pretty big footprints around the wooded area heading out towards that side of the city, but I haven't seen what's made them. But sentry bots would definitely come in handy. Ah, you found the ones at the...what was it, a manor of some kind..?

Not too keen on hopping back and forth between points? Or is it just the impracticality of switching between things for one project- which I can totally understand. Have you tried one of them yet?

Yes, you wouldn't happen to know their origins, would you?

I've interfaced with the engineering data point, if only to see what knowledge it affords me that I didn't already have. Considering I don't have the means of personal conveyance, I'm fine with sticking with the one for now until such a time I need to change.

[He doesn't do a lot of walking, Donnie.]

Negative, I'm not sure if anyone's figured out who built all this. The only certainties we do have are that Agrii did not inhabit this particular city, but it was apparently made to house another people known as the Graq, and they were not nearly so technically savvy.

It's kind of a pain, the data points. You really can't be sure what all you know that is applicable to the specific technology here until you're trying to work it out or already have the data point, and by then you're already putting it to use. Kind of like a "you don't know what you've got until it's gone" sort of situation.

I've got engineering so I'll only be able to help so far as that goes. Buuuut...if you can't find anyone else to help with your project, I'll probably have to swap for comms eventually for some things, so I can help out with programming if you still need it then.

So, there's another alien race in play, is there?

[He continues the rest of the journey in relative silence save for the odd complaint. Finally, they reach a building within spitting distance of the power plant. And once inside, Eggman proceeds to head to one of the top floors.]

Ah, at last. Lab sweet lab! Come, Donatello, we've wasted precious time just hiking here.

[The 'lab' is spartan, but already Eggman seems to have set up a functioning space. A good half dozen of the native robots are disassembled and broken down by part and he seems to already have detailed schematics of the bots he's disassembled.]

Allow me to show you the designs for my sentry bot.

[On an old table, Eggman rolls out the blueprints to...a small, cute monkey.

It's an old design...outdated by several years, actually. But given our limited resources I decided it was best to start small.

Potentially more. There's for sure another group that may actually be responsible for the storms and driving the Agrii out themselves, and apparently some of the old equipment left lying around originates from them. They're called the Atroma.

[You really need to get out more, Eggman. Donnie's just glad they don't run into any of the local fauna but at least he's kept on the alert as they made way. But now they're here!

At least the turtle isn't expecting too much. He knows how little there is to work with so any progress is considered a plus. And he's not unfamiliar with the robots, given he and Sonic had stumbled across the manor and its strange housekeeping inhabitants not too long ago.]

[Eager to see what sort of cool designs someone specialized in robots has concocted, Donnie's a little...surprised to see something so adorable.]

That's...uh... An interesting design choice there.

Many of my earlier works drew inspiration from the anthropomorphic. After all, nature has seen fit to give them sizeable advantages.

This is Coconuts. His design will allow him to easily climb the trees here in Sh'Ka and provide an 'eye in the sky' throughout the remains of the city. Naturally, he's designed to be a part of a network. If I can build enough, I can monitor all of Sh'Ka...provided I can find someone to help me code an appropriate app...

[He...sounds a little sinister there. And he quickly pivots.]

Naturally, I'd make it available to everyone! We could deploy these in Temba too!

Truuue...

[Still questioning design choices. Donnie hadn't been expecting anything so organically inspired. He definitely has his own particular tastes and Robotnik's seem to be entirely in a different direction.

Donnie's a little amused that this is Robotnik's choice of how to monitor things, but he's not going to question the necessity. And if he helps with the programming then it'd be easier to gain access too...]

Apps are super easy, like I said- if you still need help with the programming whenever the time comes, just let me know.

Of course there's no point in having an app without something to connect to it. I brought my tools in anticipation of getting some work done.

Excellent! I was hoping we'd be able to get a prototype up and running so we could field test it!

It's nice to see someone so prepared for a change. Considering the rest of the dead weight around here.

Never hurts to be prepared! Especially when there's a lot of potential salvage to be uncovered.

[He pulls his bag from over him, setting it down on the table to pull out a roll of tools he's put together or dug up or replicated.]

[Eggman doesn't impress easily. That said, Donatello's foresight and preparation were certainly a boon. Memories of Dr. Starlight flash in his mind; memories which he quickly dismisses. Starline was a sycophant. His obsession for Eggman had been useful but exhausting and ultimately his adoration was self-serving. Starline didn't have a selfless atom in his entire molecular structure, but Donatello? Brilliant and magnanimous?]

[He could use a mind like Donatello's easily. And it was clear the turtle was younger; likely no older than Sonic was. He had a certain naivety about him. One that could be nurtured if Eggman tweaked the proper settings.]

[Starline craved validation because deep down, he wanted to be better than him. He wanted to be superior. Donatello? Well, he was likely after something more.]

[Eggman places a heavy hand on Donatello's shoulder.]

Of course, Donatello. It would be a privilege to watch such a talented young mind adapt my schematics. Please, be my guest~!
