Text / Action some kinda mini log maybe???
WHO: Sonic!! And whoever feels like also being at the volcano for some crazy reason??
WHERE: Volcano Zone
WHAT: WE'RE GOING ROCK HUNTIN'
WHEN: Late September, early October, something like that
WARNINGS: NONE, will update as needed
NETWORK
What's up kids, it's ya boi Sonic! I'm heading out to the volcano to check things out, see if there's anything weird up there. Not inside, don't worry. If any of you sciency types want any rock samples or whatever, maybe for sciencing out how this all happened, let me know. I can haul back as much as you need.
or maybe volcanoes are more your speed
[He doesn't really wait around for anyone to go with him the first time he makes the trek to the volcano (he's gotta go FAST OK), but Sonic is definitely in the area long enough for people to maybe catch up with him if they feel so inclined. He'll also travel to and from the area multiple times over the course of a few days, willing to show down should anyone want to head that way with him. He's not completely rude.
He may spend a significant amount of time running around in the wilderness before stopping to stuff a bunch of rocks into a bag, or scooping ash or dirt into some kind of container. Maybe it isn't super exciting, but even Sonic can't be EXTREEEEME all the time. Sometimes a hedgehog's gotta just chill and do a little sight seeing!
He's nuts enough to go up as high as he can of course, but he can also be found near the base of the volcano checking out the damage there.]

[TEXT FOR NOW]
[Look it's been like a week and he hasn't found a place that meets his very high level of standards and specific criteria and he needs to lash out at something.]
You wouldn't even know what to bring back. I sincerely doubt you know the difference between igneous and sedimentary on sight alone.
[TEXT FOR NOW]
Actually that sounds way cooler than you deserve, scrap that.
[he'll vernacular you upside the head in a minute.]
Sedimentary are full of sediment, igneous
aren't metamorphic
Look rocks have never been at the top of my educational list okay, I've been too busy fighting you my whole life
Re: [TEXT FOR NOW]
[Yes, he's going to correct Sonic every chance he gets.]
And look where that's gotten you. You're no closer to defeating me and you have nothing to show for it. Whereas I have learned and will continue to learn after each defeat.
Re: [TEXT FOR NOW]
[This is how Sonic secretly tricks geniuses into teaching him shit.]
If that's what you have to tell yourself to make yourself feel better. Now focus up, we're talking about rocks.
Re: [TEXT FOR NOW]
Fine, but I don't trust you not to screw it up and bring me back a sack of useless samples.
Re: [TEXT FOR NOW]
Okay? How do you suggest we remedy this, then? You gonna make me a nice little check list?
Re: [TEXT FOR NOW]
I'll accompany you myself. I'd rather see this volcano that everyone talks about up close and with my own two eyes. And since I'm without my Eggmobile, you'll have to escort me.
Re: [TEXT FOR NOW]
[He's about to leave it at that, BUT, Eggman IS a genius. If anyone can spot some scientific weirdness, it's probably him. UUUUGHHHH
Okay Sonic sends a follow up reply]
Fine, but if you fall in I'm not coming after you.
TEXT FOR NOW]
Now, Sonic, where shall we rendezvous?
Re: TEXT FOR NOW]
Unless you have any objections, I say by the fountain.
[TEXT FOR NOW]|[ACTION]
[By which he means he's going to take his time because he knows waiting around drives Sonic absolutely battynuggets.]
[But he finally does arrive.]
I can see you waited for me. How magnanimous.
[ACTION]
Just given the nature of who I am and what I do, I usually end up waiting for most people. It's nothing special.
[He'd been sitting on the edge of the fountain, and now that Eggman is here FINALLY, he hops off and collects a couple of bags off the ground. One is empty and for rock and shit, the other is SNACKS for HIM and ONLY HIM.]
no subject
Do you have an intended route in mind or do you plan to charge ahead and 'figure it out' like always.
no subject
[Surge specifically comes to mind.]
That was my plan, but now that I'm going to be babysitting, I guess a little preplanning's in order. I haven't been out that way yet though, so we should probably get out there see what we're working with first.
no subject
Then at least tell me you've got a map. Someone must have been there before!
Or must I do everything myself?
no subject
[Just sayin'.]
We have maps of this town and the other one, but as far as I know, nobody's mapped out the volcano specifically yet. The volcano's still a pretty new feature, after all. It formed real fast, so any maps we would have made would be completely obsolete by now anyway.
no subject
[Fortunately for Sonic, Eggman's brought some rudimentary gear. It's analogue, but it'll at least help him map the area.]
What else are you hiding, rodent?
no subject
If I was hiding it, I wouldn't be telling you about it, genius. The other city's called Sk'Ka, so far the only way to get there is by train. It goes through a tunnel which is, of course, blocked by a forcefield that only the train can go through.
[Why yes he had run face first into it trying to get there on foot.]
Anyway, the next time I need to go out that way, I'm gonna try to find an alternate foot path. It's pretty much the mirror image of this town in terms of layout, just smaller in scale. Nobody actually lives there as far as I know.
no subject
[The solitude might be beneficial. He could work and not be bothered but it seemed most of the primary resources were found here.]
[Something to ponder.]
Very well. Let's get this little excursion underway. I've taken considerable time out of my schedule for this.
no subject
[Which, let's face it, isn't the strangest thing either of them have ever dealt with. ANYWAY, Sonic slings his bags over his shoulder and starts
walking
ugh this is going to take a million years. At least it's easy to determine which direction to go, y'know, on account of the GIANT VOLCANO being very large and very visible.]
Speaking of your oh so important schedule, any luck scraping equipment together yet?
no subject
[He waves Sonic off dismissively and starts to also head in the direction of the volcano.]
[He's had some success in scrounging for parts and whatnot but not so much in finding a suitable place to set up a base of operations. There's too much...cohabitation for his liking.]
no subject
[Sonic doesn't doubt that Eggman's been busting his ass to get settled, ol' Eggster isn't the kind of guy to just sit on his ass and do fuckall. Never let it be said that Eggman doesn't have drive, buuut Sonic's gonna give him shit anyway. Buut also maybe try to be semi-helpful if only because he also wants to get off this rock.]
Have you heard about the Replicator, yet?
no subject
And yes, I've heard plenty about it and its limitations.
[He'd prefer to say less about that subject for now. Five items a month is not ideal and he needs to consider long and hard on how to optimize his requests.]
No doubt you've used it for some frivolity.
no subject
Didn't really get a chance to. I used it to make some cleaning supplies for the hospital, aaand then the next month we were underground.
[Doctor lady already scolded him for wanting to use it to replicate chili dogs. He was responsible and did not 8(]
no subject
[Or someone with more sense barred him from doing something stupid with it. Regardless, he still needs to mess with the replicator himself.]
You say you spent a month underground in that bunker. Are large events like this volcano a common occurrence?
