What's up kids, it's ya boi Sonic! I'm heading out to the volcano to check things out, see if there's anything weird up there. Not inside, don't worry. If any of you sciency types want any rock samples or whatever, maybe for sciencing out how this all happened, let me know. I can haul back as much as you need.

[He doesn't really wait around for anyone to go with him the first time he makes the trek to the volcano (he's gotta go FAST OK), but Sonic is definitely in the area long enough for people to maybe catch up with him if they feel so inclined. He'll also travel to and from the area multiple times over the course of a few days, willing to show down should anyone want to head that way with him. He's not completely rude.

He may spend a significant amount of time running around in the wilderness before stopping to stuff a bunch of rocks into a bag, or scooping ash or dirt into some kind of container. Maybe it isn't super exciting, but even Sonic can't be EXTREEEEME all the time. Sometimes a hedgehog's gotta just chill and do a little sight seeing!

He's nuts enough to go up as high as he can of course, but he can also be found near the base of the volcano checking out the damage there.]

No, I was positing that if the Agrii are lost and are in search of 'He Rows' then my capture is antithetical to their cause. I, more than anyone, know what I am capable of and I fully intend to use their lapse in judgement to my advantage.

I've heard that the Agrii seem pretty naive, they probably just didn't know any better. I don't know how they managed to find any of us, though. I'd thought it was maybe random chance that we ended up here until Knuckles and you showed up.

Residual personal gravity. A theory I once read about a latent psychological phenomena. It posited that people of strong personalities have a 'gravity' about them. They have an ability to draw people to them.

In laymen's it means that people with strong and unique personalities have the ability to draw others from their orbit.

If the Agrii have those capabilities, then perhaps if we find something with enough residual Agrii-linked energy...

Hrm. No doubt we'd need a strong enough power source. Perhaps those energy storms...

The point I'm trying to make is that if there is a metaphysical energy present, perhaps it can be used to bring our abductors to us. Or, in the best case scenario, be redirected to send me back home!

I'd say that I'd be in favor of bringing them here in the interest of beating information out of them, but by the sounds of it the Agrii are totally clueless.

Wonderful. The fact that such an idiotic race of beings has the capacity to whisk us away from our world does not bode well for those of you with inferior brain power.

More specifically, I find their choices of who gets abducted perplexing. There can't be much this gaggling group of goons has to offer.

Nothing annoys me more than agreeing with you, and yet here I am. [Cue dramatic sigh. He doesn't necessarily jive with the exact wording, but the vibe is there.]

I dunno, man. There are plenty of other people with wild powers, and even a weird genius here and there. Some might even be evil, which is fun. Doctor Sunglasses comes to mind, but I don't know if Tommy just got on his nerves real bad or if the guy is genuinely bad news...

Then I can only assume he's as annoying as you are...which would certainly entitle him to some forceful retribution from the good doctor.

[Sonic just waves a hand dismissively, having had quite enough of Eggman in general, and pulls the bag off his back to start filing with cool volcano rocks.

This probably goes on for a while, Sonic zipping around every now and then to find new cool rocks and stuff while Eggman does whatever Eggman's doing. After a little while Sonic's made his way on top of a huge boulder and is using his elevation to look around for anything interesting, but it's clear that he's pretty bored by now. He's far enough away from Eggman that he needs to raise his voice, but not so far that they can't clearly see each other.]

Yo! You find anything ye-

[He's cut off suddenly as something falls from the goddamn sky and cracks him right in the skull, knocking him off of his boulder and onto the ground bellow. He might be dead, it's fine, and the thing that hit him lands a couple feet from his head. Nothing to worry about.]

[Eggman honestly doesn't do much. He fusses with his comms device while Sonic zips around. No sense getting worked up and sweaty when there was someone else willing to do all of the work.]

[He's scanning for broadcast signals. Energy signatures. Something. Anything. He needed data.]

[The sudden thwack and Sonic's cut-off response prompts him to look up in annoyance.]

What is it now, rodent? Honestly, can't you go more than two seconds without—

[Eggman is marching over and stops cold when he sees what laid Sonic out.]

Impossible.

[His surprise quickly shifts to elation as a wicked sneer creases his features. He picks up the object, making no move to help Sonic whatsoever.]

Impossible but incredibly fortuitous...

[How wonderful that a Chaos Emerald would simply drop into his lap.]

[yeah Sonic isn't at all surprised that Eggman would be a dick and ignore him in favor of the shiny thing. Dick.

He doesn't get up from where he's laying on his back just yet, mostly because the world is still spinning from that nice blow to the head he just took. He reaches up to rub the spot he'd just been clobbered, but even though he's seeing double Eggman right now he can still tell what he's holding in his grubby eggmitts]

Wh- no way, is that what I think it is!? Where did that come from!?

[Eggman quickly tries to hide it behind his back. As if that's going to help anything.]

Where did what come from?! What are you talking about?!

[IT'S NOT Sonic already SAW IT. He hops to his feet and plants his hands on his hips, aaand tries not to worry too much about probably getting yet another concussion. It's fine.]

I'd say "nice try", but I don't think you even tried at all. Just make this painless for yourself and hand it over, you know what'll happen if I have to take it from you.

[He holds a hand out expectantly, wiggle his fingers. Give it.]

[Eggman leans down and jabs jabs his finger into Sonic's nose.]

Without the other six it's useless to you! At least to me, I can run tests on it and use it to perhaps find a way off of this rock!

[ExCUSE YOU, Sonic swats Eggman's comically oversized yaoihand away!]

Because I don't trust you! The last time I tricked myself into thinking you could do the right thing, you made the whole world pay for it! I'm not making that mistake again, so cough it up!

So you'll make the same mistake again? Condemn everyone here because of your senseless pride rather than act in a way that would ensure actual, measurable progress?!

[Eggman sneers. They both know he's right. Sonic can't use the Chaos Emerald without the other six so keeping it to himself just means that he's depriving everyone else of a way forward. So, he tosses the gem to Sonic.]

For someone who fancies going fast you certainly seem to like retreading the same ground.

[He snatches that shit out of the air, glaring at the emerald before turning that glare to Eggman.

Man. Sonic really hates it when Eggman is right. Though, was it pride that encouraged Sonic to give Mr. Tinker a chance? Or was it simple naivety, wanting to believe that everyone has a little good in them somewhere? Was not letting Eggman just take a Chaos Emerald a matter of pride, or was this Sonic learning from his mistakes?

He has no idea, but he does know that right now, he doesn't trust Eggman with an emerald. He 'humphs' and stuffs it into his bag, slinging it over his shoulder.]

...I'm gonna consult the brain trust before I make any final decisions on the matter.
