Attention! This is Dr. Ivo Robotnik speaking and, as I assume I'm not the only one stranded on this wretched world, I am opening up communications for some proper answers. It appears my abductors can't be reached at the moment and I've already spent enough time familiarizing myself with what little information that is available.
If you have received this transmission, make yourselves known. Rest assured, if there is a way off of this world, then I will be the one to find it!
[And he may even let you tag along. Maybe.]

Does that mean you're going to try to build a ship out of here?

A ship would be ineffective unless I can find some method of navigating space back to my original world. Seeing as how I have no bearings on where that might be or where we are in relation I would likely be better off fashioning a portal or a dimensional warp.
no subject
unless someone has a map, I suppose. do you mean like a comic book 'rip through time and space' kind of portal, or is there another kind?
no subject
In layman's yes. All portals circumvent time and apace to some degree as they remove the line from point A to point B by virtue of being instantaneous. The difference being whether the destination is in the same spatial plane or across dimensions.

serious question - how exactly is that less risky than getting a map and building a ship?
no subject
Space is vast. Even with faster than light travel there's a distinct possibility that our own respective worlds lie too far away. We could spend our entire lifetimes traveling and not even get a fraction of the way. Not to mention that everything in space is constantly moving. A map would be useless because the destination will have long since moved by the time we got there.
So unless our abductors have the technology to project where their destination will be and calculate when and where to intercept it, cutting out the travel portion would be a far better solution.

I'm just saying, they might have it. They're aliens, this is alien space, and do normal rules even apply here. just please do not accidentally make a black hole of space horror.
no subject
I make no promises. Discovery and progress always carry inherent risk!
no subject
Well, at least let me know how far away to be if a black hole of space horrors does appear?
no subject
And black holes do not function as portals! Honestly, I would consider educating the lot of you if I weren't so busy and also despised teaching!

Sorry we're not all super geniuses, it's gotta be a buzz kill :c
