do we have any functioning computers in temba?
i'm realizing i've gone a rather long time without a backup and it'd ease my programming to have it backuped up somewhere
it'll need a lot of space though
it takes a lot of room to fit everything that goes into programming a person

but after a second time through calibrations i'm starting to get worried about what our captors could really do to me.
i feel like there's no much other choices right now

I have enough replicator rations to help with this, I think.
But we need to seriously consider security before you mirror all of your shit to some drive somewhere.
Now that you've made this post, everyone is going to know that there's a copy of your programming somewhere on the planet.
I don't think I need to explain to you why that's a problem.

in exchange he gets to look at the blueprints i got the holiday. which is fair, since you've seen them, and i think cal did too.
speaking of the blueprints, everyone already knows i have them, and that the agrii can apparently get a hold of them from my timeline. i was told i need to trust humans a little more and if you trusted tony enough to try and help fix me with you, why shouldn't i give him a chance? i can't just keep shutting myself off and hope for the best - it didn't work in detroit like that. i had to get others and we kept each other as safe as we could
[He thinks of those two Jerries that Dustin saw in his memory. Of all the other androids from the attack. He had a community there and it was demolished, leaving him so angry, York refused a new one when being brought here. It wouldn't bode well for him in the long run if something did happen.]

Saying that I "trust Tony" is a strong way to put it.
I thought he would be able to help in ways that I couldn't, and that the promise of getting to see what your code looked like would be enough to keep him from doing any extra shady shit.
Seeing as it didn't, can't say I trust him at all anymore.
I'm not sure you should, either.

what would you propose i do then?

[...Still typing...]
Point taken.
I wouldn't trust me, either.
Just be careful, okay?
Don't let him manipulate you into something you didn't agree to.

What he gets catches him off guard. He wonders if Dustin spent all that time typing just to have that little bit sent.]
i'll be careful
and i've got you and tae to contact if i need help. peter too
[Another text comes through, as though 'fixing' what he said.]
dr tae i should say. she likes her title

Did she agree to help because you actually call her "Dr. Tae?"
You might be the only one who does that.
I think she's messing with you.
no subject
she asked/told me to call her by her title when she was in my dreamscape. makes sense i guess; we're not friends or that socially close. like if we weren't friends or some shit and you told me to call you by your last night i might call you mr silver
oh god that was weird don't ever ask me to call you that
EVER
it was weird just typing it

Makes me sound like I'm thirty or something.
Disgusting.
I think it's an old person flex, then.
Makes sense why Tae prefers it.

you act like you are sometimes
(:
also takes a lot of studying and work to be a doctor
she's earned the title and the respect that comes with it
no subject
I know the requirements for becoming a medical professional.
Going through twice as much schooling for a job doesn't mean that you automatically deserve respect for it.
Doctors are still capable of being idiots, or assholes, or both.
[A pause.]
Tae at least doesn't seem like either of those.
Clearing the absolute minimum bar doesn't make someone deserving of respect, either.
no subject
either you deal with it when you talk to me or you don't talk to me
humans in general are capable of being assholes no matter what job they do or hobby they have. i could make a dig about you with that and that 'absolute minimum' thing but i won't. i think i've rubbed enough salt in that wound rn
she's blunt but she's seems okay
she doesn't even know me and she's looking out for me
that's gotta count for something

[But all of these are Big Feelings that Dustin doesn't want to dwell on, so he goes with something simple and vague instead.]
sure
I wasn't talking about you, you know.
I don't even know how old you are.
Or how old you were originally programmed to be.
