do we have any functioning computers in temba?

i'm realizing i've gone a rather long time without a backup and it'd ease my programming to have it backuped up somewhere

it'll need a lot of space though

it takes a lot of room to fit everything that goes into programming a person

[Dustin's feelings are Complicated. Less so about the people York's chosen to help - Peter seems harmless, albeit naïve, and Tae is...well, okay, his feelings are pretty complicated about Tae right now too, bad example. The point is, he's expecting York to twist the knife again and he doesn't, and Dustin isn't sure if he should be worried or relieved about this. He settles for an attempt at levity instead.]

Did she agree to help because you actually call her "Dr. Tae?"
You might be the only one who does that.
I think she's messing with you.

Agreed.
Makes me sound like I'm thirty or something.
Disgusting.
I think it's an old person flex, then.
Makes sense why Tae prefers it.

I'll take it over being a 30-year-old that acts like a seventeen-year-old.

I know the requirements for becoming a medical professional.
Going through twice as much schooling for a job doesn't mean that you automatically deserve respect for it.
Doctors are still capable of being idiots, or assholes, or both.

[A pause.]

Tae at least doesn't seem like either of those.
Clearing the absolute minimum bar doesn't make someone deserving of respect, either.

[There's a significant pause before Dustin sends anything; he's pointedly choosing not to react to most of what York has said, because he agrees with a lot of it. Yes, Dustin has met many assholes that do many things, and he recognizes that he's one of them. Yes, he recognizes that he's been a pretty big failure as far as York's concerned recently. Yes, he has to admit that Tae has been surprisingly willing to compromise, and even more so once she actually learned a bit about why Dustin was so stingy with her in the first place.

[But all of these are Big Feelings that Dustin doesn't want to dwell on, so he goes with something simple and vague instead.]

sure

I wasn't talking about you, you know.
I don't even know how old you are.
Or how old you were originally programmed to be.
