I. Rescued In Time | Closed to Noctis
Earth trembles weren't so strange a thing that they immediately roused Lark from sleep when they were so... limited. She's survived a great earthquake in recent memory, so he wasn't shocked to have slept through whatever was going on now. That she'd managed to slip to the pens where the glownies were kept, where the creatures whickered with distress with something else.

Apparently she'd been lucky enough to make her way over when the Bearger was wandering elsewhere, but now she could see the thing looming in the distance.

"Oh dear," she said, her voice a touch concerned. That was... a bit larger than most things she'd had to defend herself against in the past. What was she to do?


II. What Are You Wearing? | Closed to Link
Truly this had been quite the experience, hadn't it? Monsters terrorizing the city on quite this scale was a new one for her, and Lark was a bit emotionally shaken. But she had been gotten out of the main area of risk and sent off to find her own shelter. Something she was coming out of now that the power was back and people seemed to be reporting success on the network.

"What a dreadful thing that was," she said with a sigh as she straightened herself a bit and stepped out onto the street. She needed to check in on people, be certain they were okay. And make more bandages if needed.

If only she knew where to find them.

"Soup," she says. The consistency is good for it. "I tried baking it like a meat loaf too. It didn't work."

Link nods, thoughtfully. He can see soup.

For now, though, Link just practically inhales the rest of it. Sure, it's not the best meal. But Link still likes to eat, and so he wolfs down the rest pretty quickly.

Well, he's definitely more intrigued by it than she expected.

"Would you be willing to help me figure it out?"

Well, Link does like cooking - and figuring out a recipe with someone else isn't something he's done before. Usually he just figured it out himself. Or someone gave him their recipe.

So he nods his head eagerly.

"Well then, I look forward to working with you," she says with a smile. "I think the secret might be finding a way to make it solid. Like a meat ball."

"Like meaty rice balls?" He hadn't made just meat balls before. But with rice? That he knew how to make.

Meaty rice balls? Lark looks confused.

"I'm sorry, I may require a bit more explanation here."

"Rice balls. Wrapped in meat."

So maybe the name didn't make perfect sense.

"What is a rice ball?"

Sorry, she's lost. And how would you wrap them in meat?

"...Rice?" Link says, blinking. "In a ball?"

The name's pretty explanatory, really.

"Yes, but... why?"

Yep, that's just not part of his culture.

"Why not?"

[stitch_witch]

That's a really fair response and she has to chuckle at it.

"I see your point. I would like to try one sometime."

"I'll make them," Link promises. Or...he will. As soon as he figures out how to find some rice. Or something like rice.

"I will be delighted to try them then. Message me when you have achieved one?"

She doesn't want to miss it.

Oh, right. Their communicators - they could message people with them.

Link always forgets that.

But he nods, all the same.

Then he looks at the door that leads back to the laundry mode. Would his clothes be washed now?

"It will take a bit longer," she says with a soft smile. So it's time to give a chance for the things to happen. "I'm sorry. I bring work with me too. I've got spinning to do."

Link nods, accepting the answer. And then he gets up, and starts exploring through Lark's ship.

Which is something that he appears to have no shame about doing, even with Lark right there. Does she mind him rifling through any of the drawers and cupboards? Hope not, because he's doing so.

As if she would mind. This is a communal space for her crew, and so she presumes people go through it frequently enough.

When the time comes she rises and goes to find him.

"It is time to move t hings to the dryer," she says with a smile.

Link pauses, in his blatant rummaging through of everything on Lark's ship. Nods. And then follows her back to the washing machine.

He opens the door, and reaches out to see what the clothes inside are like. Amazingly, they are clean - certainly much cleaner then when he put them in. But they are still very much damp, so this 'dryer' might be in order.

"Here," she says, opening the door for the dryer. "You put the wet clothes in here."

Link nods, and puts the clothes inside. Then looks back at Lark, the question clear on his face...

...What does this machine do?

She smiles and shows him the knobs here, tells him the most commonly useful ones, and sets it to 'optimal'.

"This setting lets you trust the machine. It senses the humidity. When it senses that it's low, it will buzz to tell you that it's all done. And that's it. Once it's done they will be warm, they will smell pleasant, and they will be ready to use or fold.

Link nods, taking note of the setting.

"How long?" he asks. Will he need to keep exploring the ship for a while longer?

"This takes longer. With how little is in there I think it should not be so bad. But feel free to continue investigating our space here."
