WHO: Link and you!
WHERE: The Hangar, the Hotel, and various places across Temba
WHAT: Link searches for scientists, looks at ships, and moves into a new home
WHEN: After Link's arrival & the blizzard event
WARNINGS: None expected
The new ponty-eared arrival in Temba isn't exactly looking like a style icon as he runs around Temba, wearing the slightly oversized sweatshirt and pants that Gladio gave him. In deference to the cold, on top of that he's also tied an old ratty blanket around his neck, as if it were a cloak.
And of course, on top of that, there is the Master Sword, slung on his back.
But Link certainly doesn't let the fact that he arrived wholly unprepared for the winter cold stop him from exploring this new location.
I. Searching forquest-givers scientists
So, Link is here. He knows he's here because the Agrii want heroes to help save them from the storms. He knows, at this point, absolutely nothing about said storms, or how to stop them.
But Gladio mentioned 'smart science types'. People like Purah, or Robbie. People who might have the knowledge and intelligence to figure out what's going on. If Link's going to figure out how he's going to help...they seem like a good place to start.
So he goes looking. Maybe he manages to track someone down by name. Maybe he finds a place that looks suitably...sciency, and just figures that whoever is in there is probably a scientist. Or knows where to find one.
Either way, wherever they are, Link will find them. And then just kind of look at them, with an odd, intense yet strangely blank-faced expression.
"...Hi," he says, still staring.
II. Hangar & the ships
The ships Link found partly while looking for scientists, partly while just exploring.
When he first sees them, he just...stares. He has no frame of reference for what these massive things are. But he can't help but be reminded - at least in some way - of the Divine Beasts. But while the Divine Beasts were similarly colossal in scale, they weren't spread out across Hyrule. Not all clustered together, in one place.
Link definitely wants to see what's inside these.
Though it takes a while, before he can get into one. The first few he tries, for whatever reason, he just...can't get in. But then he comes to the one that looks a bit scrappy - the Bloodsport - and the door just opens at a touch.
He peers in. What will he find in here?
III. The hotel
In the days and weeks after Link moves into one of the Hotel rooms, a few themes will soon emerge to anyone who pays attention.
Firstly, Link clearly pays absolutely no attention to any kind of schedule; he is just as likely to leave or arrive in the middle of the night, as he is any time during the day. Though he doesn't spend all that much time in the room itself, usually spending his time elsewhere.
Secondly, he keeps bringing back things. A armfull of baconrooms. Several bunches of Chicken Daisies. Pieces of wood. Rocks. Assorted debris. Even a few small lizards, one time. Although Link soon learned - to his disappointment - that lizards don't always stay where you put them.
He also has a habit of not always taking the stairs. There's a perfectly good window, after all. Why walk down, when you can climb?
IV. Wildcard

But then he looks at Tony. Link does want to get home, yes. But he knows enough now to know that the getting back won't be easy. And that it's not just about getting home - it's about helping the Agrii.
"Can I help?" he asks.
no subject
"Thing is, I'm supposed to be getting better at asking for help, it's something I'm supposed to be working on. Isn't that funny?" His flick this time was toward Link, like he happened to be a perfect piece to a puzzle that just showed up at Tony's door. Only, he still didn't really answer, because at some point while his mouth was moving he must have realized it was his turn again, and he proposed, "You're not used to people."
no subject
Which was...effectively a 'yes', really. Ever since waking up, most of Link's time had been spent out in the wilderness, alone. Sometimes he'd meet someone on the road, or go to a stable or town. But most of the time, it was just...Link. And only Link.
"And you do need help, but you don't want to ask for it?"
Usually, this is the part of dealing with other people that isn't so difficult. Link shows up, someone expresses a desire for something they need or want, and then Link goes off and helps them with whatever it is.
That getting someone to give him a task in the first place might be difficult...wasn't something Link had expected.
no subject
Tony cleared his throat when he was presented with the question instead, hand up to stall that thought because he, on the other hand, had a lot to prove about how very normal he was, and how remarkably not-vulnerable he was, thank you: "No one likes to ask for help." A confident declaration, for someone who didn't know what Link's experience was. "So you can't come in with that upfront, centre stage, 'can I help?', that's not going to get you the results that you want, sweetheart. Let them think that you're not actually asking. Better yet, hack their e-mail and find our for yourself, avoid the conversation entirely."
no subject
Defeat the primal force of evil that destroyed the kingdom. Et cetera, et cetera.
"Do you know people?" Then, after a pause, he adds: "...What's an email?"

Sure, they weren't great. Not for trudging around in the snow. But they were warmer than his sandals, at least.
Then he looks back at Tony - but there's a glint in his eyes, now.
"I need help," he says, staring at Tony dead on, unblinking, and ignoring his question. "I need boots, please."
See? Link can do it. It's not that hard.
no subject
"I've got just the thing. Maybe. You don't look very big," he called over the racket he was making, only to pause there and lift his head to apologize, "You know, for shoes--," shake his head, and go back to digging. "I made these for a kid, not long ago--might be a little small, he had big feet, though--wasn't here much longer after that, practically brand new. Ah." Eventually, he produced a pair of leather-looking trainers, with the shape of shark teeth burned into the fabric. He dropped them onto the workbench to perch his hands on his hips, looking skeptical of them now that he had them out.
no subject
Then there's a pair of shoes on the workbench. Link leans over, curiously inspecting the odd teeth marks. Then he grabs them, kicks off his slippers, and puts them on.
Not the best pair of shoes Link's had. They are just a tiny bit too small. But better than the slippers and the sandals for this weather. He wriggles his toes in them.

"Boots. Ones you can run and climb in. A lot." The slippers might have been warm, but - as Link had soon found - they weren't all that great for most of the things Link spend his time doing. "Show shoes."
Tony's addendum, however, Link's not so sure he understands. "Adaptive?" he says, frowning slightly. Adaptive to what?
no subject
"You know..." he started, gesturing vaguely to the sword this kid was carrying around like a fashion accessory. Not something the typical civilian kept on their person. "If you have powers. Mutations. Tend to wear things out fast, or need extra mobility, or they just have to come off easy in a crisis."
no subject
"Yes," he says, nodding. He does have powers. "But they don't affect my boots."
no subject
no subject
Link had been focused on looking for scientists and helping Tony, he hadn't stopped to actually think about thinks that he might want. Other than boots - but then that had been more of a spur-of-the-moment demand.
If he can make boots, he knows how to work. And - Link's eyes drift back to the Iron Man suit - other things, as well.
"Can you make a paraglider?" Link asks. Because if there's anything he really, really wishes he had...it was that.
"Also I need to help you." Because Link hadn't forgotten about that, and he was stubborn enough to not let it go. That determined, relentless stare was back. "To thank you."
no subject
The excited hands dropped for Tony to brace himself on the workbench, the other folded on his hip for a smirk back at that stubborn stare, clearly thinking he had wrangled himself out of having to figure out what he was prepared to ask for help with. After a beat of skeptically narrowed eyes as he considered the running and climbing (and...paragliding), he produced, "Okay. Here's this." It still didn't come out easily, hand talking more easily again as it leapt away from his hip to make the shape of the thing he was trying to form the words for. The gesture gave a good indication of the size of the problem in question when Tony figured out, "There's a book. I'm pretty sure it's here--I know it's here. Red, with a star on the front. It's not a normal--it's not in the library, not that easy. If I could suggest anywhere to start looking for it, it would be near the train station, between here and the hangar."
no subject
"I can go take it?" Link says, bouncing on his heels a little. Though he might be a little less excited later, when he actually sees it - and realises it's far too big for him to carry around.
Then Link focuses again, listening to the request. "Red book. With a star. One you lost?"
no subject
"Yeah, uh...sure," Tony replied, brow furrowing as he considered how to explain the book. It certainly was lost, that seemed like the simple explanation. "But it's--if anyone else reads it, they might be hurt." Which wasn't a lie, necessarily. Tony didn't really know how it worked, and had only held it briefly in a dream.
no subject
Must be; otherwise Link couldn't really understand how a book could hurt someone, just by reading it. Not anything more than a papercut, anyway.
no subject
no subject
"Books don't usually hurt," he says. "Unless they're very heavy. And you drop them on someone."
no subject
no subject
"Rocks are better," he says. "They roll."
He might be speaking from experience, there. Extensive experience. Although they weren't really rocks so much as giant boulders...

Now, though, Link was just...confused. And feeling like he missed something.
"Betting?" When were they betting? (And...with what? Link doesn't even have any rupies.)
