Time for Tending Plants [Open]

Oh What Insanity Is This
It was nice to be able to step off the ship and finally be back in Temba. While it wasn't actually home, it was nice to actually return to the place that had become sort of become home.

That's what he really would have liked to think. As he stepped out of the hangar and was able to survey Temba again, he was completely dumbstruck by everything that had happened. He just... stood there as he stared at it. The plants... there was just so much of it. It was everywhere...

"What the hell happened here? How long were we gone?"

Even though the urge to just stand and stare at the mess was really very tempting, it wouldn't do anything to make things better so finally, he went to find something that he could use to start cutting plants down. Dark that his new arm didn't have the same abilities as his old one and he couldn't just use THAT.

However, the metal arm did come in handy (ha) because he could use it to help push plants to the side with less worry about it actually hurting him. No feeling and very hard to damage helped like that.

But after working for a while, it didn't feel like they had really gotten anywhere. He grumbled before looking at the person next to him.

"How long have we been at this?"

Save the Glownie!
Shiro hadn't been planning on being out so late. He'd kind of lost track of time. One would say it was stupid for him to have been so careless as to forget about this part...

Shiro would call it a blessing though since as he was trying to find his way back, he stumbled upon a faint glowing light among the trees. Moving closer, he spotted one of the glownies that had wandered away from the its home in this mess. Maybe it smelled mint somewhere.

But that wasn't all he spotted. There was Thorntooth that was attempting to sneak up on it, ready for an easy target.

Shiro, of course, couldn't let that happen, charging to get to the Glownie first, having only a dinky weapon to try and delay it in his attempt to flee with the Glownie.

"Yeah, something like this," TOmmy said. "It covered just about anything outside. It was impressive."

"Really? I guess I hadn't realized how much mint there actually was. Sounds like it was something to see. Probably smelled pretty good though."

"Smelled like someone exploded a bag of christmas candy," he admitted with a smirk. "Almost thought it might grow over us too. Though I have to wonder if maybe whatever led to them going wrong isn't something of what's happening here."

And mint could be malicious too. Toward bugs, yes, but malicious.

He chuckled at that part. "Yeah, I bet that it did smell good at least. At the very least, mint is a bit easier to move than the stuff that is out here now. Could also use mint for other things like tea."

"Yeah, and it's great for keeping pests away," Tommy said. He had made SO much mint oil to protect his gardening. "Guess maybe it would make good hair care or soap too. Maybe I should learn how to do that."

"I can see that. There are probably a lot of things that don't like the smell of mint... and one surprising thing that did. It probably would be good for soap. You'd smell like mint all day too."

Tommy chuckled and shook his head. "Wouldn't that just mean that the glownies would want to nibble on me?"

Shiro couldn't help a laugh at that. "Well, yes, that is probably be true. You would probably have to try and evade them because they might want to follow you everywhere."

"I don't know that I want them stalking me, even if I smell nice. I'm not the greatest animal person. I prefer people."

But when it comes to it he really did like people, and wanted more of them around. Perhaps it was because he was just so bad at keeping people around at home, but he felt more alive when he was seen.

"Hmm... that is true. It can be rather... creepy when animals follow you for seemingly no reason. People at least can be reasoned with... or more likely to be reasoned with."

He did like people as well, but he preferred very select number of people more than others. He had had a rough time the past few years so friends were better.

"People being reasoned with? Well, I suppose that animals are nice, but people can be less reasonable at times."

ANd he doesn't know what to do with that.

He chuckled at that. "Okay, in theory, people can be reasoned with. Whether they can or not is another question. And in a lot of cases, they can't."

He didn't know what to do about it either even though he knew it was true.

"What, you find that the glownies don't listen to your rational arguments?" Tommy teased. ANd he didn't mean that was a bad thing, but he's amused at thinking the guy in that position.

"I mean... I try, but sometimes they just don't want to discuss the proper etiquette required for certain situations. They are rather stubborn like that."

He was joking, really.

"So just like people," Tommy laughs as he moves forward and blows up another plant in their way.

Shiro nodded. "Exactly." And he moved to cut through a vine that was starting to come there way. Amazing how these plants didn't really give up.

"If you ever need to discuss etiquette at me, I could listen," he says after a moment. "You know, if I'm ever that bad, right?"

"I'll definitely let you know if you are ever that bad. So far, haven't seen anything like that from you."

Well, Tommy liked to hear that, and even genuinely smiled to hear it.

"Thanks for that. I like the idea of being worth attention."

"Yeah. You are. I think that most people are... as long as they are decent people."

"And it's not always easy to tell who is and isn't decent," he said, with all the weariness of someone well familiar with that fact.

"Yeah. That is true. We were surprised by someone we thought was not trustworthy just because of his race and he ended up helping us more than we ever expected. Still is."

"Good to hear you got to know someone who was good," Tommy said. Because racism sucked, and it was even worse when the race you didn't know good examples of actually were out to get you.

"Yeah. We have found more of them who have helped us since then, but we didn't believe there were good examples until finding them." Yeah, he had thought they were all evil. Who knew that they weren't.

"What are they like? These aliens. I haven't heard much about them before, and they sound important to your experiences."
