Oh What Insanity Is This
It was nice to be able to step off the ship and finally be back in Temba. While it wasn't actually home, it was nice to actually return to the place that had become sort of become home.

That's what he really would have liked to think. As he stepped out of the hangar and was able to survey Temba again, he was completely dumbstruck by everything that had happened. He just... stood there as he stared at it. The plants... there was just so much of it. It was everywhere...

"What the hell happened here? How long were we gone?"

Even though the urge to just stand and stare at the mess was really very tempting, it wouldn't do anything to make things better so finally, he went to find something that he could use to start cutting plants down. Dark that his new arm didn't have the same abilities as his old one and he couldn't just use THAT.

However, the metal arm did come in handy (ha) because he could use it to help push plants to the side with less worry about it actually hurting him. No feeling and very hard to damage helped like that.

But after working for a while, it didn't feel like they had really gotten anywhere. He grumbled before looking at the person next to him.

"How long have we been at this?"

Save the Glownie!
Shiro hadn't been planning on being out so late. He'd kind of lost track of time. One would say it was stupid for him to have been so careless as to forget about this part...

Shiro would call it a blessing though since as he was trying to find his way back, he stumbled upon a faint glowing light among the trees. Moving closer, he spotted one of the glownies that had wandered away from the its home in this mess. Maybe it smelled mint somewhere.

But that wasn't all he spotted. There was Thorntooth that was attempting to sneak up on it, ready for an easy target.

Shiro, of course, couldn't let that happen, charging to get to the Glownie first, having only a dinky weapon to try and delay it in his attempt to flee with the Glownie.

Sorry, crew of the Bishop or anyone else who would be there, there is temporarily a Glownie wandering around on the ship one night...

"Hmm... maybe. I think we tend to consider things from a more human perspective. Like, if a snake bites you, it had some ill-intention towards you. It could just be that you were too close and it was just doing what snakes do. And of course, we can do the same by assuming with others."

Did people think of it that way? The snake was just defending itself. Though maybe Tommy saw it that way first because he had caused problems for people before without meaning it.

“Like with the plants too?”

Well, if someone was having a particularly bad day, they could assign negative traits to just about anything, including a snake.

At the question, he considered that. "Well, I guess so. But we are also doing what we need to do to keep from being overwhelmed by the plants."

"And if the plants see that as attacking?"

So many moral questions. Tommy has to stop and sigh.

"What if we're in the wrong here?"

Too many deep questions.

"Well, unless it has a brain, I doubt the plant thinks like that or much at all. But also we were here first and the plant just took over."

“Fair enough,” Tommy agreed. Though the city had been way more overgrown before Shiro had arrived, he didn’t think that was the same as this.

This felt wrong. A storm, like the Agrii had said. Which was a bad thing.

“You know anything about weather?”

When he arrived, it had been fairly... not overgrown, but he had talked to enough people and no one had mentioned this.

He paused for a moment at the mention of the weather. He couldn't help, but glance up towards the sky even though it was harder to see with all the plants at the moment.

"I hadn't really thought about it, but it does feel a bit strange."

"All of this place is strange," he answered with a sigh. "Guess that is why I fit in here."

"I think that's why we all do. I can't say my life is very normal anymore."

Fair enough. Tommy nods and smiles.

"There's a movie like that back home. Around Christmas. Where some little stop motion weird ass toys all being misfits together. Guess that is what all of us are here."

"Really? Interesting. Sounds like something that we have. Been a while since I have seen it, but vaguely sounds familiar."

“I haven’t seen it since I was a little kid. I think there was a yeti or something too? Except no one called it a yeti?”

Fuck, as if he could remember much of it.

"Yeah, that sounds familiar too now that you mention it. Something about a snowman... like a man who lives in snow, not a man made of snow."

Yeah, Shiro didn't remember that much about it either.

Tommy laughs, because it's hilarious that Shiro's heard of something familiar with it.

"I think there was an elf that wanted to be a dentist."

"I don't seem to remember that part, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there. I mean, if the holidays really does involve eating that much sweets, why shouldn't there be a dentist?"

"Man!" Tommy laughs, shaking his head. "How can you make something so simple and silly make sense? Super power, right there!"

"It's a gift I have. Both being sensible and not at alternating times."

[doubled_speed]

Tommy snorts and shakes his head. What a thing to say.

"Come on, I can almost see our finish line. Let me escort you there, mister Sensible-But-Funny."

"I'd be a lot more boring if I was either one or the other."

He nodded, following along with Tommy as they headed back.

"You would," he laughs. "ANd that would be a fucking shame man."

"It would. I'm sure that was of the things that endeared me to the Garrison, that I was personable rather than just good at what I did. Let's face it, a lot of military types are not good at dealing with the public."

"And you'd make a good poster boy," Tommy pointed out. They've gone over the 'Shiro is hot' thing, so he's certain of that. "But yeah, I've never really known military types that are good at being people too."

"Yeah, they did that a lot. I went out to seek out new students, spoke at functions, you know, the PR sort of thing." Yeah, they've already discussed that he is hot and he has a card to prove it. "They certainly weren't very good at dealing with trainees."

Yes, very hot, nice card, Tommy doesn't need that low hanging fruit.

"You've got presence, so I'm not shocked. When I hang out with you, I sorta wanna be better. Which is impressive, given I'm a superhero."

Shiro smiled.

"I guess I have that effect on people. When Keith was younger, he never had anyone in his corner so he was written off by a lot of people. It was because of me that he began to believe in himself. So many of others as well."
