WHO: General Hux and Poe Dameron
WHERE: Hotel
WHAT: Discussing about possibly making a droid.
WHEN: Current
WARNINGS: None can update if necessary.

Warily Hux waited at the hotel for Poe to show up. He wasn't too fond of the idea of meeting with the Resistance member especially after their last confrontation. Hux had made a point to avoid him due to it. He had to admit he was surprised that Poe had asked to meet with him. Instead of arranging the meeting at the Power Plant where Hux was more comfortable being at, he agreed to the Hotel.

It left less room for another confrontation and Hux wasn't so sure he would hold back this time if the opportunity arose. So, he school his expression to neutral one and kept his own anger in check.

"I'm a little surprised you wanted such a meeting, Dameron." Hux greeted when he saw the pilot arrive. Millicent was at his feet and gave hiss toward the pilot before diving behind Hux's legs to hide. She could sense Hux's emotions toward the new comer and believed him not to be someone to trust like most of the others.

It was probably a stupid thing to do. Hux was the last person he should be trusting, or who should trust him, but he was also the only person Poe knew who might be able to do what he wanted. Well, could do what he wanted, Poe had seen proof enough of that, but whether he would for someone he wanted dead...that was the question.

Poe's gaze flit to the cat, lips giving a small quirk before it hissed at him, making him frown, before his attention shifted back to Hux. He shrugged a shoulder, not completely at ease, but he was making an attempt.

"Yeah, well...I didn't have a whole lot of choice in who to ask for this."

The quick pick up took Poe by surprise, but he nodded after a faint frown. It wasn't that much of a surprise. Pilots depended on their droids. They always tended to have particularly close relationships with them. It wasn't too much of a leap to guess that Poe would be missing his.

"The Agrii didn't seem to understand my request, and I don't know how to build one..." He really didn't like having to go to Hux for help.

"BB's one of kind, I know there's no getting one like him," Poe dismissed with a nod. Any astromech would be a stretch in a place like this, but...he missed the chatter, having someone to bounce ideas off of, and be there for him.

"Something like that, yeah." Admitting the want of companionship to Hux of all people was not something Poe felt thrilled about, but clearly there was very little other use he could have for one.

Honestly, he wasn't expecting the General to be so...amenable to the idea. He'd expected more of straight up rejection, a laugh in his face, or at the very least demanding a hell of a lot in return.

"...I never said I wanted you dead," Poe countered, mostly because he couldn't help but be contrary. The sentiment was certainly there, if not the words.

He frowned though, with that knowledge, trying to keep too much surprise from his face.

"... and I didn't. No. That was you that figured that out?" It was an impressive, and ultimately deadly innovation.

Eli's words had been weighing on him, and he couldn't help but think of them now, though it was harder to distance himself from everything the First Order had done, and see Hux as a person and not the living embodiment of all that suffering.

"I don't want to use you, Hux, I want your...help." That felt weird. Poe made a bit of face, not quite sure he was there yet. "Or...services. I can something for you to make up for it. Or...you can say no. Kind of expected you to lead with a 'no', if I'm being honest."

"What, really?" Poe looked genuinely surprised by the acceptance. Not ungrateful, just surprised. He'd gone into this sure Hux would say no, but knowing he needed to ask or it was going to eat away at him.

He nodded then. "Yeah, I can get you whatever you need," he promised, head tilting in slight suspicion, "You don't...want anything else?" Not that Poe had much to offer here, but even in his wildest imaginings of this meeting, where Hux accepted, he expected it to come at some great cost.

Poe snorted, not sure he was really worthy of that assessment.

"...Extenuating circumstances," he explained away, "And I think it might be more reckless than the rest, over anything else." Besides, he was sure if the two of them met up in their own world like this, only one of them would be walking away. Hux was dangerous, and Poe wasn't about to underestimate him.

But here, they didn't exactly have much choice. "I'll do my best, anyways. Depends who might show up."

"Yeah, well, the Resistance isn't exactly known for following the lead of the majority," Poe noted, lips briefly quirking upwards. "But off the battlefield, we don't execute people without due process, so...I'd say you're safe enough, so long as you don't start anything."

Assuming any Resistance members ever showed up. The deck seemed to be pretty stacked in Hux's favour just now, old friends, and various Imperials.

Poe eyed Hux uncertainly. A truce wasn't something he was eager to agree to, but in the end he gave a small nod. "No point in killing each other here, is there? That'll all be settled if they ever let us go back."

"There's not that many of us to start with, I think the chances of anyone else getting pulled here are pretty slim." Not something Poe was thrilled to admit, but it wasn't like Hux was unaware of how decimated their forces were.

He looked curious then. They might not remember any of this if they were sent home, but it was still worth learning as much as he could. "...Snoke's really gone, huh?" He wasn't sure how he felt about that. It might be a sort of victory, but if it's Kylo Ren whose replaced him...that kind of chaotic energy with the force of the First Order behind it would be just as dangerous, if not more.

Poe arched a brow. He hadn't met Rey yet, but he'd heard enough that the picture he was forming of her was an impressive one.

He noted the reflexive move with a faint frown, but so far as he knew no one in this place had a blaster or any sort of weapon.

"You didn't take the shot?" He hummed and shrugged a shoulder. Not that it would have done much good. Poe'd tried. He could practically still see that blaster bolt frozen in midair.

Interesting. Poe had no idea the First Order was so divided. If their leaders were at odds, that was a considerable weakness, one that might be exploited if he had any way of remembering this.

Poe offered a half smirk. "Yeah, I remember him not being a big fan of that." Look that, they have something in common.

"Mm," Poe nodded, posture purposefully casual. He could play friendly, and it seemed to work surprisingly well on Hux. He might have agreed this 'truce', but it didn't mean he trusted the man.

"I'm guessing that's how we escaped?" he probed, not really sure himself. Hux had given that much away when explaining before, but Poe still wasn't sure how they made it out. "Never thought I'd be grateful to see that mess in charge, but if it gets us off Crait..."

"Heh." His lips curled into a more genuine smirk. Well, couldn't blame him for trying. "However it happens, you all ready gave that much away." Which has been a considerable weight off Poe's mind. If they make it out of there then there's still hope.

"So do all the First Order officers know how to build droids, or is that just a personal hobby?"

"Hey, I'm just trying to make conversation," Poe defended, "You're free to ask all the questions you want, General."

It worried him a little how easy the banter was. He was used to serving it up, but not so used to it being returned. He was prepared to play nice, not to make friends.

If Poe's sudden frown was anything to go by, not well. It was like an itch he couldn't scratch, the more time that passed the worse it got.

"How does any pilot?" he grumbled, "I swear, they're taunting me dropping me in a place with ships I can't fly."

[personal profile] happybeeps 2019-12-07 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Well that's all the more frustrating, given Poe's been over them himself by now too, and can't manage to figure out what was wrong with them. His whole life Poe'd never met a ship he couldn't fly, and these ones, which should work just fine, refuse him.

He opts not to let Hux in on what the Agrii gifted him when he asked them for an X-Wing.

"The Fleet?" he prompted, because there's a whole lot of history he's missing out on there.

"Oh?" Poe arched a brow, and gave a surprised sort of laugh, "Well, don't wanna know what I'll have to do to earn that," he teased, almost out of habit before remembering who he was talking to.

"...Right, so...it's a deal then."

Poe looked almost amused, but then, whatever ground Hux may have been gaining was almost immediately lost at the mention of the Republic, a surprised and dark look on his face, smile dropping away.

"Would it?" His eyes narrowed sharply, but to his credit he didn't lash out.

Just because it was true didn't make the sting any less. The New Republic refused to see the First Order for the threat it was, and in leaving them to join the Resistance he was disavowed, same as the whole of the Resistance. But for Hux to toss their name about now?

"I've been handling you well enough up to now, Hux," he reminded, frowning after him, and he gave a tight nod.
