Network post: Video

[fatedsacrifice]

[The scene is of water and Noctis is visible, working on perfecting his craft of fishing here in this strange new land. He casts the line with his right hand and it goes out pretty smoothly. And as he talks to the camera, the bobber is bobbing along pretty well at first and only the side of him is seen since he's not looking directly at it.]

I'm studying agriculture, but it seems I wasn't able to get a lot of information on the different fish here. I know they got pretty big back where I'm from so I was kinda hoping someone could tell me how big they get here if anyone knows.

[And then the bobber goes down quick and Noct pulls back with the rod. And the next thing that's heard is splash and the camera falls off its perch to reveal a pale hand coming up out of the water and onto the deck after a moment or two. Next heard is spluttering accompanied with slight swearing but there's no one on camera.]

What the hell was that?

New stuff at the greenhouse? I'm in.

[It would give him more to do and hands on studying was the best kind. But as for the whale..]

I don't know..but he's still there I think.

Awesome.

Huh. Cool. So, uh, you need a hand there?

[fatedsacrifice]

[He shrugged.]

You feel like coming down? I did promise fishing with you.

[kyley_b]

Yeah, totally! Give me like, twenty minutes. You want me to bring anything?

[fatedsacrifice]

[Well that reply made him happy so he nodded.]

Might want to bring a chair and eat before you show up, 'cuz I'm not sure how long we'll be here.

[kyley_b]

I'll bring you some snacks too.

[Which he will - as always, Kyle is really easy to see approach. It'll get him into trouble some day.]

Uh..ok.

[He wasn't about to argue though he'd specifically told Kyle to eat first. A sigh came out along with a smile and a shake of the head.]

Just don't get lost.

[kyley_b]

[He does eat before he sets out, but he also brings snacks. He waves before trotting up to Noctis.]

You know, I've been living here longer than you. I should tell YOU not to get lost.

[fatedsacrifice]

[Noctis had to half laugh as Kyle came up with his answer.]

You never know.

[And he gestured with his head to one of the green lobsters.]

One of them might come up and drag you away.

[kyley_b]

I know not to get close to them. Not kosher.

[A joke probably lost on most of the people on the planet. Ah, well.]

Okay, refresh my memory, I haven't been fishing in years.

[fatedsacrifice]

[Kosher was a word Prompto used from time to time so it was nice to hear something familiar like that. But then he had to really smile.]

You remember how to cast a line and string it?

[Granted he didn't have his heavier fishing line here, he had spider webbing which was what he used at home at first.]

[kyley_b]

I remember how to cast. Think you're gonna have to walk me through stringing it though, sorry.

[fatedsacrifice]

[He shook his head.]

No reason to be sorry, more than happy to help.

[kyley_b]

Okay, dope.

[He sidles up so he can be taught, watching very carefully. It's obvious that Kyle takes learning very seriously.]

[fatedsacrifice]

[The 'dope' word got a look but Noctis just smiled. This kid reminded him of Prompto for sure in that way. So he went slowly in order to show Kyle how he cast the line.]

Just like that.

[And then he offered the other the pole.]

Want to see if you can catch something?

[kyley_b]

Okay. That's no so bad.

[He takes the pole and nods.] Tell me if I do something stupid. [He casts the line well enough, although he is a bit rusty.]

[fatedsacrifice]

There's really not much to it until you hook something. Then you'll see if you have the skill to bring it in.

[And Noct just stands back.]

[kyley_b]

Okay.

[He waits. And waits. Aaaaand waits.]

I forgot how boring this is.

[fatedsacrifice]

You might want to move the lure through the water to alert the fish and give yourself something to do.

[Now he knew how the guys felt when he was the one fishing.]

[kyley_b]

Oh! Duh, obviously, you're right. [He does as instructed, eventually drawing it back in and then recasting.]

[fatedsacrifice]

[He had to smile.]

You said it's been awhile right? It's easy to forget basic stuff if enough time's passed.

[kyley_b]

Yeah, like... six years or something, probably. I appreciate you re-teaching me.

[fatedsacrifice]

Well it's definitely a skill worth having.

[The king folded his arms over his chest.]

It's definitely kept me pretty busy here.

[kyley_b]

Which is good though, right? I mean, before I started helping out I felt really useless.

[fatedsacrifice]

He nodded. "Ya I know the feeling."

But even though that was true, they had to save the world, right? Sure feeding people was definitely important, but Noct was pretty sure he didn't come back just to fish and hunt.
