Network post: Video

[The scene is of water and Noctis is visible, working on perfecting his craft of fishing here in this strange new land. He casts the line with his right hand and it goes out pretty smoothly. And as he talks to the camera, the bobber is bobbing along pretty well at first and only the side of him is seen since he's not looking directly at it.]

I'm studying agriculture, but it seems I wasn't able to get a lot of information on the different fish here. I know they got pretty big back where I'm from so I was kinda hoping someone could tell me how big they get here if anyone knows.

[And then the bobber goes down quick and Noct pulls back with the rod. And the next thing that's heard is splash and the camera falls off its perch to reveal a pale hand coming up out of the water and onto the deck after a moment or two. Next heard is spluttering accompanied with slight swearing but there's no one on camera.]

What the hell was that?

"What's back home like, for you?" Because everyone here seems to be from somewhere vastly more interesting than Kyle's earth.

Half of him froze to hear the question but it wasn't something he was ready to discuss. There was nothing to go back to, and it wasn't like the Six would let him ever go back to being alive and being king. The title of king meant nothing here and he had no kingdom to return to.

And even if it hurt him, it was the reason he was glad none of his guys had showed up here.

"We did errands for other people who were always pretty cool. The sights back there were beautiful and the fishing was always good."

Kyle gives him a weird look, but he doesn't say anything. It was pretty obvious the guy wasn't into talking about it for whatever reason.

"Okay," he says simply. "You love to fish, huh?"

Noctis nodded. "It gives you time alone with your thoughts and you can focus a lot better." And of course he realized that some people might not appreciate that sort of thing, but he did.

Kyle nods, thoughtful. "Doesn't that ever make you anxious? I kinda get anxious if I think about certain things too much."

"That's what staying out of the apartment is for." Noct replied with a small smile. He hated being cooped up there alone. And there wasn't enough going on. And it was times like that where he really wished Carbuncle was there with him.

He nods again, falling quiet. He's about to say something else when there's finally a tug on his line. Swearing - Kyle swears frequently and colourfully - starts trying to reel it in.

He looked up at Kyle in surprise once he started swearing. That's not the type of language that he would've expected out of the kid, but it's totally fine, he's heard worse.

But he saw the other paying more attention to reeling and the water, so he stood up. For a split second he grinned. "Now let's see you get this one for dinner tonight."

Kyle's swearing habit us terrible and goes all the way back to childhood.

"I'm trying! Fuck!" Frowning thunderously, tongue poking out the side of his mouth, Kyle reels in the fish until it comes winging out of the air. He hauls it into the boat and looks for something to whack it over the head with.

Noctis can't help but laugh good naturedly. Kyle had seemed so bored before, but when the fish came along, his whole demeanour changed and it was a delight.

The king then watched the fish go flying overhead only to land down. And as he watched it flopping around there was a grin on his face as the other looked to go in for the kill.

"You gonna bring that in to cook it?"

"I mean... yeah? It's big enough!" Or so he hopes. He grabs the nearest blunt object - which happens to just be an old fashioned rock - and whacks the fish on the head with a decisive stroke.

He nodded. "Looks like we might get a filet or two out of it. Either way we bring it back and it gets cooked up so someone gets to enjoy it."
