♤ Cause and Effect
WHO: Cayde-6, OTA
WHERE: The Library, the Hangar, the Clocktower
WHAT: A bored Hunter is a restless Hunter
WHEN: Now throughout the week
WARNINGS: N/A
NOTES: Will match tagging preference!
The Library (Closed to Jon and Tony)
If there's one thing a Hunter's good at, it's sneaking around. He's scoped out his destination, made sure key parties were present. It would be a wasted effort if he went through so much trouble and found himself without his intended audience, after all.
And so it is that Cayde hauls along a couch, of all things, which might be an odd sight in itself considering he's seen pulling it out from the Whale Comb Sent Her. He has it resting over his back part of the way, and by the time he gets to the library itself, he's simply dragging it by one end, rather noisily once its feet leave the weed-ridden, patchy earth and start to screech across the smoother floors. But his intention is not stealth, not now. Now? He's clearly asking for attention.
He pulls that couch right up into the most open space of the library, looks around, and then sets it right down. Then picks it up and turns it about to adjust it just so after consulting his hidden Ghost for something or another. And just like that, he walks right back out.
The Hangar (Open)
Some time later in the week one might find the Exo skulking about the hangar. Mainly he's prowling around the Starduck if not ineffectually pawing at the door hatch. His Ghost hovers nearby, watching.
If no one comes around to open the thing up for him, then he'll be wandering around the other ships, holding his tablet as he squints between the screen and each ship he passes as he looks for a certain one.
The Clocktower (Openish?)
Cayde's been seen with a giant coil of rope slung over an arm, fresh from the replicator. He's made a beeline for his tower (not the nest of buildings the bar's in), humming along. If Ikora's about the lower levels that she's claimed, then he wouldn't be surprised if she'd try to hold him up for questioning. Which is why he goes up to his own levels the usual way- jumping. Dare someone brave the Warlock's domain to head up those stupidly tall stairs to find him? -it's fine, she won't bite.
If you catch up to him at the top floor of the clocktower, you'll find him setting the rope down as he looks on out of one of the gaping holes that face the neighboring tower by the flood plains, stroking his chin thoughtfully. After a moment he turns to you, grinning as he picks up the rope and starts pulling half of it loose before tossing the rest over. "Hey, do me a solid and hold onto that. -and make sure to keep feedin' me some line!" And then without further explanation he leaps out the hole, somehow jumping again in midair just before he can hit the ground and break his ankles, rope winding out in his wake.

What the other was trying to accomplish, Terra couldn't say. But he did know for sure that he wanted to help and if he could use some of his own skills in order to get this done, he could at least do that much.

He walked over to the larger hole in the wall, one that had eaten a small portion of the ceiling with it. It made it easier to jump up to the roof, and he used the uneven edges of the wall as footholds to leap up. It wouldn't be impossible for Terra to find a way up, the outer wall pocked with plenty of places to use as handholds if he didn't want to attempt following Cayde's example.
no subject
Following Cayde over, he looked at the space that his companion was. And since he the other was having no trouble with the hand holds and spaces, he figured it would be good practice to get into to see if he could do the same things the same way.
It didn't hurt to try new things.

There were a few twisted bits of metal here and there that might have been the support for some sort of structure to top the clocktower, but most of the material that had been covering it had eroded away. Leaning against one of those remnants was a crude wooden sign, the message carved into it reading: I charge by the hour.
no subject
He then turned to look and saw the sign and then looked at his companion. "Did you make that sign?" Charge by the hour for what?
no subject
The Exo looked out across to the other tower he'd gone jumping over to, folding his arms thoughtfully as he considered the setup.
no subject
He turned and watched the other curiously and then gave the other a nod at the rope. "So you're just jumping from high place to high place?"
no subject
Cayde shook his head, looking around at what he had to work with on his side of things. "Not jumping- jumping was just for the initial set-up. Once I get the other end of the rope tied up over here, just need something that won't cause too much friction to hang on to, loop it over the rope and just-" He gestured with his hand, dipping it forward and down into a slight curve as he pushed it outward. "-slide on down to the other end."
no subject
This was just a puzzle in Terra's mind but he was interested in whatever this was all the same.
no subject
Maybe people might think him crazy, or if they knew Cayde well enough, probably not even be all that surprised. But really, that was all there was to it, just following a thought on a whim and no one objecting or otherwise. Well maybe Echo might object, but so far, he didn't know.
no subject
Besides, everyone did their own thing here pretty much and he wasn't going to judge it.

He went to retrieve the rope, then pointed at some of the bare rebar. "Think that'll hold?"
no subject
The smile faded quickly as Cayde started getting the rope and pointed. Terra nodded. "It looks like it should. I can tie it if you want."

So after a moment or two, he looked up at his companion. "Should be all set."
no subject
"Perfect! Now I just needa... Hm..." He held a finger up to inform Terra to stay put for a second while he hopped back down a floor. He came back not too long after, wielding a short piece of what might've been a thin pipe, bent in the middle as though it had been struck against something. He stood up on the bit of wall and hooked the bar over the rope, grasping onto the opposite end.
"Well, here goes nothing!" he said before hopping off the ledge, hanging onto the makeshift handle as it slid along down the rope. "Woohoooooooooo!"
no subject
Soon enough though the other reappeared and seemed pleased enough about the hook so he had to laugh as it seemed the other was having one heck of a time sliding down the rope. It didn't seem to break so that was a good sign. And since he himself didn't have a hook, he wasn't about to repeat the other's antics.
So he shook his head with a smile, and looked around to see what other places he might be able to tie a rope to before heading down to meet with the other.
no subject
It was a lot of energy to expend but Cayde was obviously hyped about the whole thing as he hopped down from the other tower to head back and meet up with Terra. "Worked like a charm!"
no subject
They weren't, but the thought still kept the smile on his face.
"So we're just gonna have to find other places to do that with, and more rope." That might be a challenge.
no subject
He looked at the metal bar he had in his hand. "Might have to drop by Tony's forge and see if he can figure out something better, but on the fly, I'd say this worked pretty well."
no subject
But the unfamiliar name got his attention. "What can Tony do?"
no subject
Cayde flicked the end of the bent bar with his other hand. "So, I'm bettin' he can polish out a cleaner design for hooking over a rope. Hey, maybe he can figure out some kinda mini-system that can make it run up the rope in reverse! Now that would be something."
no subject
But as he listened to Cayde, it made him smile. "So you're going to go to him and see how much more he can help you get around." That had him nod. "Wonder if he knows of something that would be rope like too."
no subject
He twirled the bar around in his hand before gripping one end and holding the other pointed outward as though it were a gun as he aimed off into the distance. "Guess that's all for scienceing today for me though. Thanks for helping out with the rope."
no subject
"Guess I should get back home and see what I can do about creating more space." More workable space that was. Sure he had plenty, but he was still trying to turn it into some semblance of a home.
So he turned away and looked back at the other. "I'll see you around."
