♤ Cause and Effect

WHO: Cayde-6, OTA
WHERE: The Library, the Hangar, the Clocktower
WHAT: A bored Hunter is a restless Hunter
WHEN: Now throughout the week
WARNINGS: N/A
NOTES: Will match tagging preference!

The Library (Closed to Jon and Tony)
If there's one thing a Hunter's good at, it's sneaking around. He's scoped out his destination, made sure key parties were present. It would be a wasted effort if he went through so much trouble and found himself without his intended audience, after all.

And so it is that Cayde hauls along a couch, of all things, which might be an odd sight in itself considering he's seen pulling it out from the Whale Comb Sent Her. He has it resting over his back part of the way, and by the time he gets to the library itself, he's simply dragging it by one end, rather noisily once its feet leave the weed-ridden, patchy earth and start to screech across the smoother floors. But his intention is not stealth, not now. Now? He's clearly asking for attention.

He pulls that couch right up into the most open space of the library, looks around, and then sets it right down. Then picks it up and turns it about to adjust it just so after consulting his hidden Ghost for something or another. And just like that, he walks right back out.

The Hangar (Open)
Some time later in the week one might find the Exo skulking about the hangar. Mainly he's prowling around the Starduck if not ineffectually pawing at the door hatch. His Ghost hovers nearby, watching.

If no one comes around to open the thing up for him, then he'll be wandering around the other ships, holding his tablet as he squints between the screen and each ship he passes as he looks for a certain one.

The Clocktower (Openish?)
Cayde's been seen with a giant coil of rope slung over an arm, fresh from the replicator. He's made a beeline for his tower (not the nest of buildings the bar's in), humming along. If Ikora's about the lower levels that she's claimed, then he wouldn't be surprised if she'd try to hold him up for questioning. Which is why he goes up to his own levels the usual way- jumping. Dare someone brave the Warlock's domain to head up those stupidly tall stairs to find him? -it's fine, she won't bite.

If you catch up to him at the top floor of the clocktower, you'll find him setting the rope down as he looks on out of one of the gaping holes that face the neighboring tower by the flood plains, stroking his chin thoughtfully. After a moment he turns to you, grinning as he picks up the rope and starts pulling half of it loose before tossing the rest over. "Hey, do me a solid and hold onto that. -and make sure to keep feedin' me some line!" And then without further explanation he leaps out the hole, somehow jumping again in midair just before he can hit the ground and break his ankles, rope winding out in his wake.

Clocktower

Terra is out scouting. He knows he needs to find Lauri-Ell at some point and talk to her, but right now he's just out and about. It isn't long before he finds himself at the clocktower and he started looking at it. Sure it wasn't the first time he'd seen it, but he hesitated before moving.

Sure it wasn't the first time just going in to see a place, but in the end he went inside anyway. As he went inside and looked up well it was a long way up but Terra wasn't afraid. So he diligently went up the stairs one at a time and made his way up to the top. There he saw Cayde who seemed to be picking up a huge rope.

And suddenly the other is asking him to hold on which he nodded to. "Where are you going?" Surely he didn't mean...but then he was gone and he held onto the rope, trying to do as he'd been asked which was to feed the rope a little bit at a time.

He had no idea why Cayde was waving at him, but it half amused Terra. And of course he kept feeding the rope so that the other could land safely. He had no idea what the other was doing or what he hoped to accomplish, but he would help on his end to the best of his ability.

But then he couldn't see Cayde as the man moved upwards, but he could feel the tension on the line, and Terra continued to carefully feed the rope. And he just hoped that the other was being careful.

He was really trying his best and just hoped somehow he was helping..whatever project Cayde was working on. Though what one could involve jumping around with rope, Terra couldn't even begin to guess.

So he was a little startled when the other called to him and he wasn't sure what to do with or about the rope. Holding onto it though as if it were his own lifeline seemed to be the best option.

Hearing the other's voice, Terra nodded as he checked how much was left. And he raised his own voice just a little. "We're good, come on back!"

It's the noisy arrival of the couch that draws out both Jon and Tony from whichever corner of the library they have been hiding in, caught up in conversation about odd little earth quakes, vanishing trees and simply the urge to share some space.

"A couch." Jon is the first to point out the obvious, coming to a halt and crossing his arms to underline a frown. Two of the younger mothcats are already inspecting the unexpected gift with both their noses and their claws. Obviously this isn't Tony's doing. Tony has been with him this entire time, so all Jon can do is cast the other man a genuinely confused look and a frown.

The Hangar

[ Even after living here for almost two months, Alberto has never bothered visiting the Hangar. He knows he's been assigned a ship, and since the mystery of the mines is halfway figured out, it's time to explore other places.

He spots Cayde looking a bit frowning at a door that is obviously not opening for him, but what gets the kids' attention is the man's Ghost. He has never seen it before, and Ikora mentioned how Cayde doesn't really keep it visible all that often. ]

Cayde, ciao! And company...hi. [ He waves at Sundance, giving it a smile. ] Are you looking for something?

Kaz was on his way elsewhere when something, maybe a sound, or maybe a new shadow, made him look up. The something turned out to be Cayde swan-diving off the tower. That alone made Kaz startle a bit and flinch away from the new shadow made by a falling Cayde so that Cayde would be hitting the ground and not him. the question of why Cayde was throwing himself off a high roof was secondary to not being flattened by an incoming Exo.

At this point, Kaz had been in Temba long enough that seeing the law of physics being broken wasn't much of a surprise. But the relief of not being flattened by an Exo washed through him. At the moment he just leaned on his cane, voice as dry as dust;

"That's one hell of a hobby."

The noise had been disruptive enough that Tony had hissed after Jon going to investigate, then took up the first viable weapon within reach to sneak out after him. This turned out to be a broom, which he had been brandishing like a spear until it became clear that the threat was some mysterious furniture, leaving Tony leaning with the broom tucked against his armpit in both hands while he considered this riddle.

He met Jon's eye with a raised brow of his own, then pouted back at the couch. "It didn't just appear here," he offered, which was supposed to be reassuring; the noisy entrance had made that much clear, so Jon hadn't started producing couches like tape recorders. "Maybe someone is trying to tell you something." The kind of message a couch delivered was not obvious, but they were smart guys, they could figure it out. Where did someone use a couch? Very lightly, Tony ventured, "Therapy wouldn't hurt."

Since Cayde was apparently making this kind of traveling a habit, Kaz's tone was still as dry as dust.

"Like I just said."

He turned his frown onto the rope Cayde had tied around him.

"Which then begs the question what you were planning to do with that?"

The Clocktower - Another Angle

Not Too Long Ago:

"--could've killed somebody!"

Echo knew it was pointless to yell at the sky, but there was no other explanation for not one, but two crates dropping on him in the middle of a patrol. It was too close for comfort; had he not dodged, each crate would have landed on his head. And this was exactly why he kept wearing his armor.

"First a sinkhole, now this," he muttered under his breath as he pressed a hand against his shoulder, letting his gaze fall onto the contents that spilled out of each one. "I think I'm calling it in for the day."

NOW:

He's in the middle of sorting through the packs of spicy ramen when he feels like something's off.

Not immediately, but it eventually comes to a head. The noises that throw off the ambiance outside of the tower are punctuated and almost rhythmic the second he listens for it, sending him toward the nearest window (or lack thereof) to catch a glimpse of the Exo, with purpose and rope, flying upward past his line of sight.

There are questions. But first, there's a dash up the tall stairs to reach the next floor with the packs still in hand and a pause that speaks volumes before the approach. "All right -- what's going on here?"

Hangar

Shiro happened to be in the hangar as well. He was wandering to check on his ship. Not that there was much to do with it, but Keith had said that the ships looked like they wanted to go somewhere so he was trying to keep an eye on it. And he spotted Cayde there, practically pawing at the door of the Starduck. He was quiet for a moment as he watched before he walked over.

"Guess no one is home."

Terra nodded and let the one gloved hand take the brunt of the rope. He still had no idea what Cayde was up to, but soon enough he came into view. This of course gave him the time to ask what he had tried to before.

"What was all the jumping around for? Were you..looking for something?" Though really it was one heck of a way do go searching. And in the back of his mind he wondered why the other did all of that, and then it hit him. So he stayed quiet.
orangewayfinder: (Are you sure about that?)

[personal profile] orangewayfinder 2021-09-15 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Carefully he looped it into a small circle and handed everything back to Cayde. The man's words made him wonder some more until he watched the other mention having to fix the rope up higher.

"Do you need help to get the rope up higher?" Here Terra was just trying to be helpful and half of him wondered what would've happened had he not been there when he was.
on_repeat: (Yeah. So now what?)

[personal profile] on_repeat 2021-09-15 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah?"

Although Echo knew as much, he also looked down at his hands. "Spicy Ramen."
