[ Garak's voice is quieter, but he can't speak much for that, lacking in any extraordinary abilities himself. At least abilities of that sort, of course.
He helps the Vision prepare them both drinks, watching him curiously all the while. Parts of him seem to be machinery, but Garak wouldn't say that he is a machine. And he is preparing two cups, so that must mean he can drink and eat just like other organic species. Curious, indeed. ]
It might be that their power is limited, or that they only had access to the schematics of the basic ship models.
[ He raises his eyebrows. ] Or they simply enjoy playing with us. Giving us more limited resources and poorer conditions just to see how we will fare.

Also, hopefully the hot beverage will help Garak.]
Or that they are so alien in their thought processes that they could not tell the difference, or why those differences might matter to us. Much like with the 'hero supplies' request box.
[He exhales in a huff.] I'd like to think they're not simply toying with us, but that would be the simplest explanation. And those are so much more often correct than complex theories.

That could be it, as well. I guess we might never know for sure, unless we ever get to meet the Agrii. Even then, I highly doubt it we will be able to establish communication with them.
[ They don't seem to be able to decipher even their simplest words and requests, after all. ]
Hmm, unfortunately. I have heard that the Fleet that so many have come from started by being some kind of entertainment show? So it's not that improbable if that's what's happening here as well.

[Oh, he could complain, certainly, but in his experience that doesn't tend to be very productive.
He takes another sip of tea.]
A reality show, if you have those where you're from. We were never certain if there were actually any viewers or if that part was all a fabrication, but it seems the Agrii were watching after all. I can't say it's a comfort.

[ Things would get lost in translation, quite literally in this case. Garak has a feeling that there are much better things to spend their time on. ]
We don't. Some have tried to explain it to me, but I confess I have a difficult time imagining it. Regardless, the concept isn't very unlike what we are dealing with here. We can't really know for certain that all this wasn't engineered by them to the last detail.

Even so, I'm inclined to believe the Agrii are what they say they are until we learn otherwise. This does all seem like an act of ignorance rather than malice.

[ The need to own, to consume and to profit, ah... that will always remind him more of the Ferengi. It's a wonder how they haven't sold each other out to extinction. ]
I think I will remain the skeptical of the two. If nothing else I'll be pleasantly surprised if and when I'm proven wrong.

[And then he shakes his head to clear it.] That's a good attitude as well. that way, we can be prepared either way, can't we?
