[He can indeed drink, which he demonstrates as soon as the tea is ready. It's easier to process than eating, and his sense of taste is entirely different than a human's, but it's an important social ritual and so he doesn't mind participating.

Also, hopefully the hot beverage will help Garak.]

Or that they are so alien in their thought processes that they could not tell the difference, or why those differences might matter to us. Much like with the 'hero supplies' request box.

[He exhales in a huff.] I'd like to think they're not simply toying with us, but that would be the simplest explanation. And those are so much more often correct than complex theories.

I admit, I've yet to try the communicator function that would let us speak directly to them--or to their inbox, as seems more likely. Somehow I do not know if I am quite up to it.

[Oh, he could complain, certainly, but in his experience that doesn't tend to be very productive.

He takes another sip of tea.]

A reality show, if you have those where you're from. We were never certain if there were actually any viewers or if that part was all a fabrication, but it seems the Agrii were watching after all. I can't say it's a comfort.
unbearablynaive: (does that make sense)

It's probably for the best that your society is not in the late-stage capitalist phase of profiting off voyeurism, especially without the subjects' consent.

Even so, I'm inclined to believe the Agrii are what they say they are until we learn otherwise. This does all seem like an act of ignorance rather than malice.

[His eyes widen, interested.] Have they? Good for them. One of my fathers was convinced they'd destroy themselves long before that point.

[And then he shakes his head to clear it.] That's a good attitude as well. that way, we can be prepared either way, can't we?
